Template:Sideicon Template:IncompleteTable Template:FFI Enemies The Yamatano Orochi is an enemy in the Dawn of Souls and succeeding versions of the original Final Fantasy. It appears only in the deepest levels (30+) of the Whisperwind Cove, on the lava-filled levels resembling Mount Gulg and on the floating castle levels resembling Flying Fortress. They are quite rare but pack powerful multi-hit attacks due to their numerous heads. They appear in simple groups of four or six and have a chance of dropping a Braveheart sword, usable by Warriors, as well as a huge amount of Experience. Other than the sword and an extra page in the Bestiary, there is no other reason to pursue and hunt for this difficult enemy.
Etymology
Yamata no Orochi (八岐の大蛇?, lit. Eight-branched great serpent) was a legendary 8-headed and 8-tailed Japanese dragon that was slain by the Shintou storm-god Susano'o.
