Along with the other crystals, it seals Exdeath on Bartz's world in a cave where the crystals power gathers. The essence of wind is said to be passion, which is a prominent trait of Bartz Klauser.

Thirty years after Exdeath is sealed, the Wind Crystal shatters and as Bartz, Lenna, Galuf, and Faris visit it, they are made Warriors of Light and granted the power of the Crystals. The shards of the broken Crystal grant them the Knight, the Monk, the Thief, the White Mage, the Black Mage, and the Blue Mage Jobs.

FFBE Heavenlord destroys Wind Crystal

Veritas of the Heavens attacks the Wind Crystal.

The Wind Crystal is located at the Wind Shrine's innermost chamber, and is part of the Dirnado government's jurisdiction. In the past, the crystals' power was a source of conflict between Dirnado and the other nations of Lapis. Currently, the crystal in its surroundings are used for the construction of airships at the Industrial City Dilmagia shipyards.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. (Skip section)

In Chapter II, Veritas of the Heavens enters the shrine intending to destroy the crystal. Although he is bested in battle by the game's protagonists, Rain, Lasswell, Fina and Lid, Heavenlord uses his remaining strength to destroy the crystal. In doing so, he releases Aldore's seal upon the Heart of Babel in order to power up the ancient ship Invincible.

Later on, the cast learns that the Wind Crystal and its counterparts originated in Paladia 700 years ago, during the civil war between Aldore and Hess. They were a key to imprisoning Hess' Eight Sages (in case of the Wind Crystal, it kept Babel sealed) while peace negotiations took place. Secretly, the eight crystals served as a seal upon the battlefield that the leaders of Aldore banished to Lapis in order to get rid of the Sages and the Sworn Eight of Paladia. Betrayed by their leaders, it is the reason why the Veritas seek revenge, and why they shatter the crystals, including the Wind Crystal: by breaking the seal, the land will return to Paladia through the dimensional gate, likely with catastrophic consequences for Aldore.

Spoilers end here.

Bravely series[]

Bravely Default Wind Crystal

Wind Crystal in Bravely Default.

IN Bravely Default, the Crystal of Wind is located on the continent of Harena, and is found in the Temple of Wind, just south of the city of Ancheim. It is tended to by Agnès Oblige, the current vestal of wind. Early on, it is corrupted by darkness, causing the wind to cease. This places a hardship on the city of Ancheim, which relies on the wind to power their city.

Agnès, with the help of her traveling companions, defeats the evil that has infected the crystal, and performs the Rite of Awakening to purify the crystal. It is later revealed that performing this rite overstimulated the Wind Crystal and is part of a process to link multiple parallel versions of Luxendarc.
