Wii

The Wii (pronounced we), known during developement as Revolution, released in 2006, is the fifth video game console released by Nintendo, and the eleventh game system. The Wii is the successor to the GameCube. Nintendo states that its console targets a broader demographic than that of Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3, but it competes with both as the best selling part of the seventh generation of gaming systems.

A distinguishing feature of the console is its wireless controller, the Wii Remote, which can be used as a hand-held pointing device and can detect motion and rotation in three dimensions. Has of October 2009. No Final Fantasy games in the main series have been released on, or announced for the Wii.

WiiWare are downloadable games and applications specifically designed and developed for the Wii. The games and applications can only be purchased and downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel under the WiiWare and Channels sections. WiiWare is being touted as an avenue for developers with small budgets to release innovative, original, and smaller-scale games without the investment and risk of creating a title to be sold at retail.
