A Scholar casting the White Magic spell, Regen.

White Magic is category of magic in Final Fantasy XI. White Magic is native to only 5 jobs, namely White Mage, Red Mage, Paladin, Scholar and Rune Fencer. A majority of White Magic spells specialize in healing, negative status removal as well as status enhancement, and can be used by its various jobs at differing levels. White Magic is further divided into 4 main categories of magic - Divine Magic, Healing Magic, Enhancing Magic and Enfeebling Magic. The effectiveness of White Magic is often tied to the player's skill level in the same 4 magic skill categories.

EtymologyEdit

White magic has traditionally referred to the use of supernatural powers or magic for good and selfless purposes. With respect to the philosophy of left-hand path and right-hand path, white magic is the benevolent counterpart of malicious black magic. Because of its ties to traditional pagan nature worship, white magic is often also referred to as "natural magic".
