Priests who use white magic to heal and protect allies.
The White Mage (白魔道士, Shiro Madōshi?, lit. White Sorcerer) is a job in Final Fantasy V, obtained after the Wind Crystal shatters. The White Mage is the game's first job to focus primarily on healing and support. The White Mage has less Magic Power than the Black Mage and Summoner, nor can they use the power of elements outside of Holy with a rare staff as they are unable to equip rods or knives without equipment abilities. Nonetheless, White Mages are useful in keeping units alive and healthy during tough battles.
The White Mage attire is that of a traditional White Mage from the series: a white robe with a red trim. Bartz and Galuf wear their hoods down. Lenna and Faris wear their hoods up. Krile wears a white cloak with cat ears and red clothes.
- Job command - White Magic
- Innate abilities - None
- Equipment - Staves, Hats, Robes, Armlets.
White Magic abilities give characters the White Mage's base Magic based on the following formula:
- Magic = White Mage Base Magic - 2 * (6 - White Mage Job Level)
The value of the base Magic granted in this way is capped at the White Mage's base.
Thus the base Magic stat for a character with White Magic equipped would be as follows:
- Level 1 = 39 base Magic
- Level 2 = 41 base Magic
- Level 3 = 43 base Magic
- Level 4 = 45 base Magic
- Level 5 = 47 base Magic
- Level 6 = 49 base Magic
- Level 7 = 49 base Magic
The base stats for White Mages are:
- Strength: 17
- Agility: 25
- Stamina: 24
- Magic: 49
White Mage appears in Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade using White Magic spells from Final Fantasy V.
White Mage from Final Fantasy V appears in Final Fantasy Trading Card Game. Lenna as a White Mage has a Water-elemental card.
White Mage from Final Fantasy V appears on a Triple Triad card in the version available via Final Fantasy Portal App.
- The White Mage attire is an indication that Faris is female, before the party even finds out, as she wears her robes the same way Lenna does. This also applies to the Black Mage job.
