Water is a water-elemental spell which first appeared in Final Fantasy VII.

The Water spell cannot be cast from a Materia, but the spell can be used via the Dragon Scale item.

Water can be drawn or refined from items.

Vivi can cast Water by learning it from the N-Kai Armlet. As such, it can also be used in conjuction with Steiner's Sword Magic. Also, the Chaos Guardian Kraken will cast Waterga on the party when he is fought in Memoria.

This game includes three levels of the Water spell (Water, Watera and Waterga), putting it on the same level as the three key elemental magic spells, Fire, Thunder and Blizzard. Like most Black Magic, it is located in Lulu's section of the Sphere Grid.

Water is an ability that is already known by the Black Mage dressphere. It can also be used if certain accessories or Garment Grids are equipped. The Dragon Scale and Water Gem items also have the effect of a Water spell.

Water is a tier 1 elemental spell. In Final Fantasy XI, Water is generally one of the earlier learned spells in any tier, just after the earth-based Stone spells. This spell is purchasable by vendors for 162 gil or less depending on fame.

There is only one level of Water magick obtainable by the player in this game, and the Black Magick 2 license is required to use it. However, several enemies and the Esper Famfrit can cast Waterja during their battles. Famfrit's attacks are also Water-based.

In the International version, Water was renamed to Aqua.
