Taejin's Tower continued[]

You've probably noticed that the elevator makes music when it goes up and down. I guess you could say this tower is a giant music box.

Head to the left and you'll find a Gale Ring. In the room next to that there are 2 Varcolaci, 2 Rainbow Anklets, and an elevator that goes up to the Sixth Tier. I'll talk more about the Sixth Tier later, but I'll just let you know that a Menhirrim on that tier allows you to access more of the tower.
Back on the 4th tier, if you go back onto the elevator and cross over to the other side, you'll get '2 Glass Orbs. In the room close to that, we have another elevator and 2 Yakshas. They can be a bit of a handful but Tridisaster one to stagger then Relentless Assault/Aggression to finish it off, then repeat for the 2nd one. Now we head up to the Fifth Tier.

If you exit on the left side of the elevator you'll get 9 Ancient Bones without having to fight the Yakshinis. You'll end up fightning them anyway because of the next mission.

Mission 24
We have to kill a Mushussu. The mushussu is going to be teaming up with those Yakshini to make things tougher. Get a preemptive strike on them. Kill off the Yakshinis first. When they're staggered, you can kill them with Relentless Assault in about 3 seconds. Debuff the Mushussu then Tridisaster to stagger it. Go with Relentless Assault/Aggression to finish it off. Heal when you need to. For finishing this mission, we get 6 Moonblossom Seeds.

There's not much else you can do up on the 5th tier so lets go back down to the 4th tier then go up to the 6th Tier.

Mission 25
We have to fight the godawful Vetala. On our way there, we'll find 4 Tears of Woe, and an Unsetting Sun for Snow. I guess it would also be a good time to tell you about Vampires. They have strong magical attacks and are capable of casting Aeroga and Deprotect. They can use Wail, which can cause Daze. Give it a few debuffs, then work on staggering it. It takes a while to stagger. When it is, go with Relentless Assault or Aggression.

Ok, now onto the beastly Vetala. Don't bother trying to get a preemptive strike on it. You're going to need some major buffing. If you don't use a Synergist, you'll definitely want to use a Fortisol and an Aegisol. You might want to use them anyway. Hopefully you still have a few of those.
Now that you're all sexy and Hasted, you'll be able to stagger it in seconds. You'll want to debuff it a lot. It can be poisoned so Vanille is very useful in this battle. It has ridiculous magic power so its Multicast will do major damage. Its Inertial Barrier makes it resistant to pretty much everything, unless it has Imperil on it. Once it's staggered, its Inertial Barrier will fall but after about half way through the stagger it will put up Inertial Barrier once more. If it's staggered, you're able to use Deprotect to do major physical damage (depending on who you use). Since you're buffed out, you can stagger it quickly and repeat the cycle easily. For finishing this mission, we get Cobaltite.

Now in this room there is a Librascope. In the next room is a Menhirrim and a Tyrant. Avoid the Tyrant unless you can get a preemptive strike on it, which is easier than it looks. Avoid it anyway since it's cheap as hell :|

Mission 26
We're off to fight a Penanggalan. Isn't that just the funkiest Cie'th you've ever seen? The funkiest Cie'th I've seen is the Seeker. Use a Fortisol and/or Aegisol. You might want to get Ruinga to make things better. It would be pretty difficult to get a preemptive strike on those things so just run into the swarm of Cie'th. Finish off the Chonchons first. They're weak against Ruin and should be easy to take out. The Penanggalan is much more challenging. It's immune to all debuffs. Build the Chain Gauge and use Ruin spells. Heal when someone goes into yellow HP. For finishing the mission, we get a Diamond Bangle

Finally, we are done with these missions. When we get to our destination, Dahaka rears its ugly head once more. The Menhirrim come to our aid again and make Dahaka a few feet shorter.

Talk to the Menhirrim and it will once more spin the tower. The elevator now has access to the 6th tier. Follow your party members. In the first room, there are 8 Tears of Remorse straight ahead and a Clay Ring in the top left corner. Continue and make your way to the elevator.

To the Top of the Tower[]

We are now on the top of Taejin's Tower at The Cloven Spire. You can find a vial of Ethersol and 2 Frostbane Brooches up here. After you're done looking around, go to the center. You're going to want to change your people too. If you've been neglecting these people, I suggest you work on them. This battle will go easier and quicker if you use a Fortisol to make your party sexy.

Boss: Dahaka
Dahaka FFXIII
Paradigm Lightning Fang Vanille
♦Assassination Ravager Saboteur Saboteur
Relentless Assault Ravager Commando Ravager
Aggression Commando Commando Ravager
Tridisaster Ravager Ravager Ravager
Solidarity Commando Sentinel Medic
Combat Clinic Medic Sentinel Medic
Difficulty: Medium
HP: 2,314,800
Drops/Rewards: Tetradic Tiara
CP: 33,000

The only debuffs he can have are Deprotect, Slow, and Imperil. Once he has those, switch to Tridisaster and stagger him. Once he's staggered he'll fall to the ground and he won't be able to attack. Make sure he has all the debuffs when he's staggered. Stick with Tridisaster and build the percentage to about 900%, then switch to Aggression. Repeat.

His move, Foul Utterance can potentially cause Death to a party member. If he uses that, switch to Combat Clinic just to be safe. He also has some strong magic power. Over all, he's not very hard. Well actually this technique makes it seem that way...he's a pretty tough boss.

Soes now he's dead and we can move on now :D The Menhirrim shows up to thank us, then goes off to vanquish evil where it hides. We expected Oerba to be vibrant and full of color, but from the distance it's all but. Aww, Fang and Vanille sadness D: Hope is being hopeful and flirting with Vanille, and then Fang is having some attitude.

So now some feral creatures somehow end up here. We don't care about them since we're leaving.

Oerba[]

So this funky elevator thing takes us to a snowy looking mountain path. It's not snow though, it's crystals. I don't really get it either. On our way to town, we'll see some Vampires and Taxims.

As we make our way into town, we'll see a bunch of Cie'th. Yeah, this town is infested with Cie'th. I think the developers should've put more emotion into this place. It is Fang and Vanille's hometown and these Cie'th were most likely residence of this town. Like what if Fang and Vanille had to kill a friend turned Cie'th. That would be very interesting. Anyway...

Bhakti

Bhakti

The first turn you get to holds an item sphere that contains a nugget of Perovskite. When we get to the destination mark, we're lead to Fang and Vanille's house. "House" as in all of them because all of the houses are theirs because they all lived together. So now that we're here, let's make the most of it.

Fangvanillephoto

500-year-old picture of Fang and Vanille.

Alright. In the first house to your right, there is a big scary Vetala being fat and taking up most of the vicinity. Come back later. There is also a Vetala in the bottom of the house straight ahead. Ignore that too and just go into the house.

Now I realize that every house belongs to everyone, but this house in particular pretty much has Fang and Vanille all over it. Looking over by the beds, you can see a fur pelt that looks like the one Vanille is wearing. Over in the kitchen/dining area is Vanille's pet robot, Bhakti, and a picture of Fang and Vanille on the table, as well as a necklace that looks a lot like the one Vanille is wearing now. Let's just call this place Vanille's house.

What's amazing is that #1. there is a picture of Fang and Vanille in exceptional condition (and no one in the game comments on it.) #2. Vanille has a pet robot, and #3. that it is still around after 500 years. It's like WALL-E or something. Well those 500 years have done some major wear on poor little Bhakti. If we find the parts, Sazh will fix him up and we'll get a few rewards. Let's not miss our chance to get super rich now :D

Mission: Repair Bhakti[]

Take a look at your map and you'll see a few Object of Interest symbols. Those are where the parts needed to fix Bhakti are located.

So, the Battery Pack is located in the house with the fat Vetala. Go figure ¬_¬. You'll have to kill the party of funky looking Cie'th right infront of Vanille's house in order to get the Power Cable. Start out with some Commandos and a Medic. Stack 2 Ruins and a Ruinga and continue the combo. If you need to summon an Eidolon, do so. There is a Heavenly Axis for Vanille outside of her house. Keep walking down the path and kill the Vampire. It holds the Trochoid Gear. If you go up those stairs you'll find a Librascope. The next part, the Aspheric Lens, is in the school. We have to fight another Vetala. They are such a freaking nuiscance T-T. There are Chonchons with it, but those are easy to take care of. While you're at the school, you can head up to the rooftop to get a Moogle Puppet and a pair of Pleiades Hi-Powers for Sazh. The final item is on the Rust-eaten Bridge. In what looks like a warehouse are 3 Taxims. We can mess with them later. Head up the stairs and you'll end up at the Derelict Depot, right before the Rust-eaten Bridge. To the left you'll find a Flamebane Brooch. And now we have found the Metal Plate. Let's head back to Bhakti.

Now that we're safely inside Vanille's house, we shall repair Bhakti :D Isn't the robot adorable? Talk to it again to get your well deserved reward! How many of these rewards you get depends on how many steps you have taken on Gran Pulse. You have most likely taken over 10,000 steps (I don't know how you would get less than that...), in which you will obtain 10 Deceptisols, 2 Ultracompact Reactors, a Gold Nugget, 5 Perfumes, 3 Platinum Ingots, and a Pulsian Pioneer trophy/achievement. It's amazing isn't it? Don't go using all of those Deceptisols at once now.

Time for some MATH! :D It's not the bad kind though, it's the kind to see how rich we're going to be. The Platinum Ingots sell for 150,000 Gil each. That is some wonderful 450,000 Gil you have right there. Add that Gold Nugget (60,000 Gil) and we have 510,000 Gil. Remember that Moogle Puppet we found earlier? That sells for 18,000 Gil which brings us to 528,000 Gil. If you sell the 5 Perfumes (I don't recommend that) that adds another 62,500 Gil to our total, making us extremely happy and rich. I already had some 42,000 Gil before this. For the ones aiming to get the Treasure Hunter trophy/achievement, I higly recommend you start buying the weapons and accessories that you don't have yet and just hold on to them. If you're not into the trophy/achievement then buy things you think are useful or save up.

On the Road to Freedom[]

Ha! More like the Price of Freedom. Enough of being rich. Head to the Rust-eaten Bridge again and continue further. Up ahead we have the super-nuiscance, Vetala, blocking the Taming Pole for Fang. A bit of a long walk away, we see the Save Station. Near that Save Station is a vial of Ethersol. We now approach the Destination Point and we hear...Serah's voice? Hmm, Ragnarok is playing, Serah appears and is speaking oddly. Is anyone else feeling weird? Snow's mind must be absolutely blown right now. Or not, he seems to be kind of unaffected by this. Then Snow and Serah embrace in an awkward hug. Yes it's awkward, very awkward >.> Snow gets the creeps and pushes her away. "Serah" then asks us to destroy Orphan. Lightning is creeped out so reaches for her gunblade but "Serah" is all "You can't do that. You love me too much. You do, don't you Claire." LIGHTNING'S REAL NAME HAS BEEN SPOKEN!!! Ripples of destiny have been triggered across Cocoon and there is now a hurricane in Eden. Yes, it is Claire Farron. There's a good chance you already know this. Snow intervenes this creepy little stare-down between siblings, then "Serah" cracks a wicked smile. And Snow continues to be stupid.

Serah starts to glow bright colors and it is revealed to us that it was actually Dysley in diguise. How freaking creepy. Dysley is so messed up. Snow, I can't believe you let that thing hug you >.> That is so gross. Snow tries to attack Dysley again but just gets thrown back. He'll never learn. Ever. Dysley keeps talking and whatever, then we find out he resigned and now Cid Raines is alive and is now Primarch of Cocoon. The old stupid creep also tells us his plan to use the Cavalry to take out Orphan. This guy is so twisted! Let's kick his ass.

Note: Your party should have over 3000 HP and you may want to equip accessories with resistance against Curse, Poison, and/or Daze.

Boss: Barthandelus
Barthandelus Second Form
Paradigm Lightning Fang Vanille
♦Dirty Fighting Commando Sentinel Saboteur
Relentless Assault Ravager Commando Ravager
Tri-disaster Ravager Ravager Ravager
Delta Attack Commando Sentinel Ravager
Solidarity Commando Sentinel Medic
Combat Clinic Medic Sentinel Medic
Difficulty: Very Hard
HP: 3,307,500
Drops/Rewards: Goddess's Favor
CP: 100,000

If you have a Fortisol and/or Aegisol I suggest you use them. He's capable of using Poison, Daze, and Curse. Once he changes his forms, he'll upgrade those debuffs to -ga level. You might want to be wary of those status effects. They can make a big difference.

Barty is vulnerable to Deprotect, Deshell, and Imperil. Once those are on him, switch to Tri-disaster and get him staggered. Switch to Relentless Assault or Delta Attack to bring the HP down. When your HP goes down to about 1/3, or you have debuffs, switch to Solidarity. You're going to probably be switching your Paradigms a lot through out this battle.

When he uses Apoptosis, his debuffs will be removed and so will your buffs. It will also cause some damage. Switch to Dirty Fighting when that happens. When he uses Thanatosian Laughter, you should switch to Combat Clinic. When in doubt, use Renew. Or summon if you want to.

If you take longer than 20 min. he will cast Doom.

Your Crystarium Expanded!

Ugly freak doesn't like to die. Examine the Cie'th Stone and magical stuff will happen. A hologram with Pulse Writing appears from the Stone and Vanille reads it out loud for us. Half of our group is starting to lose hope, but Hope lives up to his name and gives our happy people a burst of motivation and confidence. We're on our way!

Let's board the airship back to Cocoon!
