Part Deux of Paramina's Final Fantasy XII: Spoiler-Free Edition Walkthrough. What I do to keep you kids happy...

Mimic Queen[]

Boss Battle: Mimic Queen
Ffxii-mimicqueen

Level: 10
HP: 4073
Steal: Knot of Rust, Storm Magicite, Rose Corsage
Difficulty: Easy

Uh-oh, looks like the mother is not pleased with our rampant baby slaughter. In fact, she's really not pleased - she's raging. Hence the dramatic chorus soaring along with the boss music. Like her babies, the Queen is weak to Blizzard, so throw that out when you can. Of course, you'll want to reserve MP for the HP top-ups, but MP replenishes when you run-around, so just go for a jog when you're running low. I'd recommend focusing on the Queen and ignoring the little tykes for just now - they're not as dangerous and will disappear as soon as Mama's taken out. Keep Basch healed up because he's a total tank in this fight. Try and Steal that Rose Corsage if you can, it's a useful Accessory to have around for your mage. Uh... I think that's it. Yeah, Blizzard, Cure and Physicals. The end.

Ba'Gamnan and Crew (Optional)[]

Optional Boss Battle: Ba'Gamnan and Crew

Level: 12
HP: 3983 and 3 other enemies at around 1500 each
Steal: Potion, Hi-Potion, Round Shield, Water Mote, 30 gil
Difficulty: Hard for this stage in the game.

Note that it's not just Ba'Gamnan, but also his other three brown-nosers well-equipped with weapons and angry faces. If you don't want to fight this battle, hit R2 and follow Larsa out of the Mines, retracing your steps to the exit. You'll need to continuously hold down R2 because getting into battle with any random enemies slows you down and gives Ba'Gamnan ample time to lower his chainsaw (lunatic).

If you're up for trying to fight this, I wish you luck! With Protect already up, make sure your Mage has the Rose Corsage equipped because they may get Silenced, which is beyond annoying. You really do need to keep HP up in this fight, particularly Balthier's - maybe even swap your Gambits so Cure or Hi-Potions get thrown out at 70 or 60%. Try and Silence the henchmen to prevent them casting their supportive spells. You can also cast Blind or Disable if you can to impede the possé, if you've picked up any Motes I'd throw them out to deal some good area damage. Basically focus your physicals on the henchmen first to get them out of the way - you'll probably want to go for Ba'Gamnan last. If you've been levelling enough to grab some Quickenings, they're able to wipe out this team in like, a chain of two or three. If you run low on MP at any point, remember you can Flee, increasing your MP as you run and having the battle follow you. If you decide you don't want to try and fight anymore, then just leg it to the Shaft Entry.

Judges, Imperial Swordsmen and Imperial Magus (Maguses? Magi?)[]

Sort of Boss Battle: Judge (x2), Imperial Swordsman (x3), Imperial Magus
ImperialSoldier FFXII

Stats given are for the two leaders, the Judges
Level: 11
HP: 2245
Steal: No idea, working on it...
Difficulty: Easy

God, I had no idea what picture to use so I decided this rabble of armored people would do.

Righty, basically the premise of this battle is do as Vossler says: "Fear not their numbers! Take down their leaders and the others will follow!" Our strategy here is to eliminate the Judges first to end the battle quickly. The whole premise of me telling you to put Protect on before you entered was so you could bear the brunt of those Swordsmen's incessant hits. Firstly, take out the Imperial Magus. I know I just said we'd focus on the Judges, but by eliminating the Magus you eliminate those bloody annoying Black Magicks he sends our way. With that guy out of the way, focus on the Judges. Of course, Vossler will be going aggro-crazy in the foreground, whacking whatever approaches him the closest, but ignore him. I'd say if someone dies, then switch in your extra party member, only use Phoenix Down if someone else KOs, too.

Judge Ghis[]

Boss Battle: Judge Ghis
Ffxii-ghis

Level: 14
HP: 4120
Steal: Potion, Dark Mote, Jackboots
Difficulty: Easy

There are two strategies you can go with here: one is to set up a Quickening Chain, three will lead to a Concurrence and floor the fight. End of.

The other is to fight it out. He has an attack that will wipe out your party if your HP is below 50%, so MAKE SURE you have a Cure Gambit set-up for Ally: HP <60% or higher. Pick off Ghis' possé quickly to eliminate their annoying attacks and then focus on the big guy. Basically just keep your physicals whilst making sure your ranged fighters are staying out of the fray and quick to send a Cure when needed. The battle ends when Ghis' HP falls below 25% anyway, so 'tis no biggie.

Now I've got the rest of this box to fill. Hmm... Ghis should really keep his helmet on at all times, shouldn't he? That hair is really rough. Why did he curl that little fringey bit, I wonder? You know, on closer inspection his hair matches his helmet. Or, maybe, his helmet matches his hair. I wonder whether he styled his hair like that or had his helmet especially made? Who would I ask about this kind of thing?

Garuda[]

Boss Battle: Garuda
Ffxii-garudaegi

Level: 16
HP: 6754
Steal: Gold Needle, Giant Feather, White Fang
Difficulty: Easy

It's a pretty easy battle - first things first, have some throw those Eksir Berries out. I guess the Garuda really doesn't like fruit-to-skin contact considering it whaps off about 15% of his HP. From there on, you'll have to adapt your battle pattern. Any sword-users or the like are now useless, either switch them to ranged weapons or have them focus on magick slingling, particularly Water and Thunder to take a few extra HP off per hit. Vossler will run around, charging up Telekinesis, so don't worry about him, just make sure he's looking alright health wise. I mean, you can attempt to throw out Silence, but it might not stick. Garuda won't hesitate to throw out Sleep, which is rather irritating, so either Esuna or Alarm Clock. You can also attempt to hit it with a Sleep and then send out the Dark Magicks if you've got your Arcane licenses yet. If not, try Blind to throw it off a little. Obviously, Protect works as a decent buff here, too. There's so many battle plans you can take, pick and choose.
