Introduction[]

Hello, and welcome to Part 6 of MystRay's Final Fantasy XII Walkthrough. I'm so sick of Zodiark! I'll cover him later, but every time I try to defeat him, I lose on the last sliver of his health! Its so annoying! Oh well. On this part, we take a trip through the sewers, and steal some treasure. We also meet awesome characters. You can find it all, on the most exciting part of my Walkthrough here, at Part 6!

A Few Preperations[]

Actually, there's nothing to really do. Just go down to Lowtown, and in the North Sprawl, go to Storehouse 5. Its located in the northwest corner. There is a big X marking your destination anyway.

Descent into Madness[]

Dire Rat FFXII

A common enemy here. Needed an image to put here.

When you open the door to the storehouse, you're treated to a little cutscene with Kytes. Ugh. This is one of the last times we'll see him at least. He jokes around about having us do a little retrieving for him, but we're not doing that. He was just trying to be mean. He makes up for it by publicly embarassing himself when he does a horrendous job unlocking the door. My favorite thing he says there is "Hrooph". He he he he he... Sorry. Anyways, he gives us 2 Potions and 4 Phials of Eye Drops, which cure Blind/Darkness. From there, we are now free to enter the Garamsythe Waterway. We enter on the Central Spur Stairs. There's a Save Crystal directly to your left. Obviously, use it. If you go to the right, you'll enter into the No. 10 Channel. Just go around the loop, killing Dire Rats. At the end is a treasure chest. It contains some Gil. Go back to the Central Spur Stairs. Save again, just to be on the safe side, and go to the left. Now starts the beginning of a very long and linear story sequence. This includes the sewers, the palace, the sewers again, the dungeons, and the passage. You'll learn more about the other areas later. You open into the Northern Sluiceway. This area contains mostly Dire Rats. Kill them all for Loot, and EXP and LP. On the right side of the area, there is a new enemy called a Steeling. They're just stupid, and annoying bats. Really easy. There are chests scattered around here, but they don't conatain anything spectacular. There's nothing important in this room, so just kill all of the enemies and move on. The next room is the North Spur Sluiceway. Most of the branches contain treasure, so go check them out. There's a new enemy called the Ichthon. You could have fought these in the Estersand, but this is the first storyline sequence that they come in. They're pretty easy. They start out docile, just like the Wild Saurian. Once you have over 20 LP, get the Heavy Armor 1 License for Vaan. We're going to want to start looking for Quickenings for Vaan soon. Just follow my Licenses and you'll be okay. Go to the end of the room, and lo and behold, we're done! Just walk up through the blue beads, and tell Vaan to climb the stairs. Then say, its now or never. We then walk up the stairs, and into the palace.

Thief in the Night[]

Inside palace

The inside of the palace. It can get pretty annoying.

Welcome to the Royal Palace of Rabanastre! To introduce the palace, we are given an awesome cutscene! All is peaceful in the courtyard. Fireworks are going off, and the fete's at full swing inside. A cool hoverbike zooms through the coloumns. A dashing person jumps off, with his bunny sidekick at the wheel. We'll be seeing a lot more of them very soon. Back to Vaan (ugh), we open in the Cellar Stores. There's a Save Crystal, and you know my policy on saving. There is also a cool looking urn. These urns usually contain full maps of areas, or candles of areas, which open all of the secret areas on the map. This particular one gives you the full map of the Palace. Open the door and you'll be in the Cellars.

Forbidden Treasure!!!!!!! - Beware: Do not open any of the treasure chests in this area if you want the Ultimate Weapon. There's only one that's bugged, but just don't take any chances. The treasures are pretty pointless anyway.

Go up to the crowd. You'll be given a little cutscene of the guards being jerks and not letting anyone upstairs. To continue on with the story, go over and talk to the orange Seeq to your left. Then go over and try to go upstairs. The guards are jerks again, and the orange Seeq talks to you. Go over and talk to him again, and he'll think that we want to go upstairs because we're hungry. Just as long as we get upstairs, I'll be happy. He decides to help us out. He tells us to press Square-button to call over the guard. When the guard gets sort of close to you, go around him, and up the stairs. You'll open in the Lower Halls. Now here's where the fun begins! Just follow my instructions below, and you'll be fine.

MystRay's Instruction Manual - Part 1 - The Palace Puzzle

  1. Go straight forward, and use the stone on the Hawk Signet.
  2. Go back and around the bottom.
  3. Call the guards, guarding the right side of the second to the bottom row, to the left side of the same row.
  4. Walk up to the second row.
  5. Use the stone on the Lion Signet.
  6. Call the guards guarding the left side of the second to the bottom row, to the left side of the bottom row.
  7. Call the guards guarding the left side of the second to the top row, to the left side of the second to the bottom row.
  8. Call the guards gurading the left side of the top row, to the left side of the second to the top row.
  9. Go over to the far left side of the top row, and examine the light.

After examining the light, you are taken to the Secret Passage. Here, go along the left wall, until you see Switch above your head. Press X-button. After you hear the mechanical click, go over, and examine the golden wall. Part of the wall slides away, and we enter. Here we are in the treasury! Finally. Vaan's eyes instantly go to the half-naked, female statue. Figures. He's obviously not satisfied with Penelo hanging off him. I hate you Vaan! Her face opens up, and Vaan gets a chunk of rock. Good job Vaan. You're a real thief there. In walks the best character of the game. Balthier! His bunny buddy, Fran, is there as well. Since they won't be in our party in this part, I'll save their boxes for the next part. The suave duo, kindly asks for the "magicite", but Vaan being the whiner that he is, just says "it's mine!". This is the beginning of Balthier's nightmare. A ruckus disturbs the ruckus, and Vaan is gone. Balthier says some more awesome things, and the scene fades to black. We've obtained the Goddess's Magicite. An equipable item that I will be going over later. We open with Vaan trying to escape. This is the last area of the palace, called the Garden Stairs. Just go up the stairs, and to the most epic cutscene of the game so far.

A Dashing Escape[]

Vaan comes bursting through the doors, and apparently, a rebel force has attacked. Please tell me a Final Fantasy that didn't have some sort of force attacking a stronger and opposing force. Balthier comes chasing after Vaan, and Fran blocks off Vaan's escape route. Balthier does the cool finger thing that's my user picture, and throws Vaan off a cliff! Thank you Balth... oh seriously!?! You're saving him!?! At least your decent. Vaan's weight makes the hover thingy crash, and blackout. The bike has now crashed, and our heroes are dead. Or are they? The screen opens up with the crashed bike in the sewers. Balthier elects that we go through the sewers. Yay! Fighting with Balthier! Vaan is obviously checking Fran out, but Balthier cooly puts if off as being him not used to seeing Viera. Vaan is somewhat shocked that they're sky pirates. Vaan doesn't care about them, only their airship. Balthier then takes charge and puts Vaan under his control. The game is now good again. Balthier and Fran are here, and the way looks bright from here. Vaan becomes all protective over his rock, but we don't care anymore, because we have Balthier and we're happy. This part is now over. We have ended on a happy note, and the rest of the Walkthrough will be nice and cheery. Until we get to a giant dark tower of doom, that is.
