Ráán állim. Celestial Weapons are a pain in the ass, right? Paramina's weapon guide for Final Fantasy X International Walkthrough.

So why Celestials?[]

Because they are the best weapons in game. That should be enough. I'd even go as far as to say they are the best weapons in the entire FF series. They're insanely powerful, and a lot of optional bosses in game (Monster Arena, Dark Aeons etc.) basically expect you to have acquired these in order to defeat them. They give you all the awesome abilities like Break Damage Limit, Evade and Counter and One MP Cost without spending like, twenty composite hours farming items. They allow Aeons to Break the Damage Limit. If you need any further persuasion, they totally ignore Defense.

So in short, yes. Yes, you want them.

Celestial Mirror[]

In order to 'activate' our weapons, we first need the Celestial Mirror. The first part of this process is obtaining the Cloudy Mirror from Remiem Temple. I've already detailed how to get this in the main walkthrough in the Sidequest section. Check out the link below.

See: Remiem Temple Races Guide

So after you've acquired the mirror, we need to... de-cloud it. Hmm. Head to Macalania Wood. At the entrance, you'll find a woman wandering around. Speak to her, and she'll tell us she's lost her husband. Somehow, the task falls onto us to find him - head to the Camp Site to find the husband. Speak to him to send him back to the woman. Now head back to the woman. Apparently she can't keep her eye on anything, because now she's lost her son.

Head up the sparkled path (to their left). At the first fork, go North, and then you'll find the little guy just... randomly chilling up here. Talk to him and he'll finally get lost and return to his insanely bizarre family. This leaves you free at the altar. Remember this location, because you'll be coming back here - hit X-button, present the Cloudy Mirror and voila! Celestial Mirror

Tidus: the Caladbolg[]

Components
Caladbolg Sun Sigil Sun Crest
Calm Lands Calm Lands Zanarkand
Caladbolg FFX

Okay, so let's get the easiest out of the way: the Sun Crest is on the platform you fought Yunalesca on. Head down a set of ruined stairs and you'll get transported to the spot. I did tell you to do this in the main walkthrough, but I know some people will be stupid and not do it, which then means they have to fight Dark Bahamut to get it. Nice one.

Our next component is the Sun Sigil. Rule of thumb: Crests are easy to find. Sigils require tears of blood. God, some of them are so hard. This by far is the most frustrating, annoying thing in a video game ever, seriously. I'm getting angry just thinking about it. Remember back in the Calm Lands we briefly dallied in the Chocobo Races? Well, there's one more. And it's fucking nails. Seriously. It's harder than Penance. I wish I was kidding, but I'm not. I'm really not.

Training #4 Chocobo Race Prize: Sun Sigil Time Prize: WTF, I don't care

You have to complete all previous training games to unlock this race. Now, remember when we did Hyper Dodger Chocobo - birds and blitzballs inexplicably flying everywhere? This is just like that, except now we're racing. We start at the entrance to the Calm Lands and finish by the exit out to Gagazet. This wouldn't be so bad if the chocobo racer wasn't such a cheating shit. But whatever, anger issues aside...

You'll need to run this race a couple of times to get the hang of it. It'll take a lot of practice before you actually beat her. Sadly, that's not enough. See how the race track is littered with balloons? These take time off your overall time. You also contend with birds and blitzballs that add time to your overall time if you get hit. The time requirement for the Sun Sigil is... wait for it... -0:00:00. Yeah. You have to get less than zero timing for the sigil. 0:00:00 doesn't cut it. It has to be below it. Your best bet is to try for like, 12-5 balloons to detract your time, and hit zero obstacles. This will take you forever, or it'll take you three seconds. It's totally luck based. And if you cry, it's fine. I didn't cry, the eyes got a bit teary and I definitely screamed and broke a controller, but I didn't cry.

Just think, when it's done, nothing will ever be this hard again. I am yet to encounter something in my entire life that has frustrated or caused me more difficulty or anger than this. It is smooth sailing from here on out, amigos.

After the race, head to the North West of the Calm Lands. Run around the edge until you see a tiny little slope down the back. Follow this down to find a Treasure Chest. Use the Celestial Mirror, and you've got yourself a Caladbolg. Take all three components to the altar to fully activate it.

Yuna: Nirvana[]

Components
Nirvana Moon Sigil Moon Crest
Calm Lands Besaid Beach Remiem Temple
Nirvana FFX

We're already well on our way to completing Yuna's Nirvana. Remember way back in Part 4 I told you to pick up a Moon Crest from an alcove on the beach? "It's a useless item just now, but later in the game it becomes invaluable, and grabbing it now just saves you the trip back." Now is that "later in game". If you didn't listen, hitch a ride back to Besaid and go grab it.

The Moon Sigil isn't as tough as Tidus', thank baby Jesus, and we should already have it - back in Part 27, you retrieve it after Sending Belgemine. If you skipped those Sidequests, go do it now. Thank you. Sidequest skippers never prosper.

Lastly, the Nirvana itself. Head to the Monster Arena in the Calm Lands. After capturing all of the Calm Lands monsters, the old guy left a treasure chest out for us we couldn't open. Well, now you have the Celestial Mirror. Ta-da! Nirvana. Take all three components to the altar to fully activate it.

Auron: Masamune[]

Components
Masamune Mars Sigil Mars Crest
Mushroom Rock Calm Lands Mi'ihen Old Road
Auron's Masamune

Way back in Part 10 I told you to go to the bottom of the Mi'ihen Old Road and pick up the Mars Crest. Good for you if you did. If you didn't, get clicking.

The Mars Sigil is in the possession of the Monster Arena old guy. You have to unlock ten Area Conquests or Species Conquests. This seems like a massive effort, but you'll find yourself doing it in no time, and it actually helps you along your fully-unlocking-Monster-Arena quest pretty well.

The Masamune requires a bit of effort. Part 26, the first of the Sidequesting, told you to obtain the Rusty Sword on your way to Yojimbo. Take this to the entrance of Mushroom Rock Road. Follow the North-Eastern passage to find a rising glyph thing - take this baby up and you'll find yourself in front of a statue of Lord Mi'ihen. Place the sword in front of the statue, and a glyph will appear showing you where the Masamune is. Thumbs up. Take all three components to the altar to fully activate it.

Rikku: Godhand[]

Components
Godhand Mercury Sigil Mercury Crest
Mushroom Rock Bikanel Bikanel
Godhand FFX

The Mercury Crest is located in Bikanel Desert, Part 18 details where to find it. Grab it if you haven't already.

SInce we're in Bikanel, we might as well get the Mercury Sigil next. This requires a lot of patience (but it's fine, not nearly as much as that required for Tidus'). Remember, Bikanel's like, four areas: the one with the Oasis, the path with the tent we found Wakka skulking and being racist in, the huge open area you spend most of your time wandering through, and the smaller area just before Home, with the sandstorm raging at the East. Keep this in mind.

Head out to the area before Home. There's a "Cactuar Glyph' here, examine it. We have to go find 10 Cactuars in Bikanel, and I'm still not sure why. You have to sneak up on them without being seen (...), so approach the rear. This is so inane. After every Cactuar, you receive a stone to take back to the glyph - don't take them back until you have 9. Here are the locations of all ten (you'll probably want No Encounters for this):

  • In the Oasis, to the right of the Save Sphere.
  • In the North-Western alcove of the path with the tent, near its exit.
  • Behind a "20% off Sale" sign in the area before Home. Read the sign to find him.
  • In the ruins of the large open area.
  • In the ruins of the large open area.
  • Behind the Save Sphere in the tent. Examine it to find him.
  • In a Treasure Chest in the South West corner of the open area.
  • In an antlion pit in the area before Home.
  • In the Oasis. Then, somehow, on the deck of our airship.
  • Appears automatically after bringing the rest of the stones.

Ugh. Done. Now the sandstorm will finally clear, and you'll find a Treasure Chest with the Mercury Sigil in it. Sweet.

Finally, head back onto the airship and select the Password Input command. Type in "GODHAND" (yelled, all caps) to reveal a hidden location in Mushroom Rock. Fly out there and use the Celestial Mirror to find the Godhand. Take all three components to the altar to fully activate it.

Wakka: World Champion[]

Components
World Champion Jupiter Sigil Jupiter Crest
Luca Blitzball Tournaments Luca
World Champion FFX

This actually requires you to play Blitzball. I wish I was kidding, but I'm not, I'm not. Check out the Guide to Blitzball I wrote to try and make things a little easier. The Jupiter Sigil turns up as a random prize everynow and then in Blitzball Leagues after Wakka's won all three of his Overdrives.

The World Champion is given to you by the woman in the Luca Cafe. You have to have won a Blitzball tournament though, otherwise she won't give it to you. I still have no idea why she even has it in the first place.

The Jupiter Crest is found in the Besaid Auroch's Locker Room in Luca Stadium. Go for a little rummage and you'll find it.

Lulu: Onion Knight[]

Components
Onion Knight Venus Sigil Venus Crest
Baaj Temple Thunder Plains Farplane
Lulu onion knight

Check out Part 26 as to where to find the Onion Knight base weapon. You'll need to fight Geosgaeno to get it.

Venus Sigil. Actually kill me now. God. Remember back in the Thunder Plains, in Part 15, there was that Lightning Bolt Dodger table? I don't even know if you noticed "200 - Venus Sigil" at the bottom. Now you've got to go do it. Dodge 200 consecutive bolts, and you have to keep the tally going in your head. Go for around 210, just in case you spazzed up the counter. Go get your prize. Wipe your tears of blood.

Return to the Farplane entrance and you'll find the Treasure Chest with the Venus Crest inside. Take all three components to the altar to fully activate it.

Kimahri: Longinus[]

Components
Longinus Saturn Sigil Saturn Crest
Thunder Plains Macalania Mount Gagazet
Spirit Lance FFX

Or "Spirit Lance". You crazy Americans. The Longinus is acquired by praying to three Qactuar Stones in the Thunder Plains. After doing so, a little ghosty Qactuar will come and jump around the place. Follow it to the tower, and when you get there, hit Square-button. Voila. Longinus.

Saturn Sigil. Butterfly Hunt. I'm just going to link to the page, because seriously, this sidequest makes me grind my teeth to dust. Tears of blood, tears of blood.

The Saturn Crest is a lot easier to get. Go to Part 22 if you didn't pick it up when I told you do. Take all three components to the altar to fully activate it.

And so we now have an awesome team (debatable) armed with awesome weapons (indisputable). You can now cleave the tops off of mountains. Congrats.
