Hamfruitcake here. Hey, a little help with movin' the couch. We're makin' a fort

Species Conquests[]

So here we are again, this time facing Species Conquests, a bit more strategy here and a whole lot more fun to be had. You'll find yourself coming back to these fiends frequently to farm the spheres necessary to fill your sphere grid. A fight with these fiends will cost your 8,000 gil a pop, not really that much I know but who really cares? Money is important in this game oddly enough. To find all of the capture lists nice and neatly written out for you head to this page here.

Once again all of the Creations can easily be dealt with by using Aeons but then again, that does feel a bit like cheating no? Your general buffs are also useful to keep on your team but I'll let you know when some buffs are entirely essential, Hasteaga is always useful. This time there will be no questions asked, you will face all of these fiends with the Celestial Weapons, now go to this page and sort it out. It just takes far too long to kill everything with measly Limited 9999 hits so otherwise try for weaponry with Break Damage Limit; but it's best to remember that Celestial Weapons ignore defences, apart from against creatures that need Piercing (I know, it's ridiculous...).

So let's go eskimo!

Fenrir[]

You will recieve Chocobo Feather x99 for capturing all of the little doggie like creatures. I highly recommend you take armour with Confuseproof to make this battle much easier, and of course, as in most battles, Hasteaga is a must.

Species Conquest Creation : Fenrir
Fenrir-ffx-enemy
HP: 850,000 (99,999)
Attacks: Fangs of Chaos, Fangs of Hell, Fangs of Ruin
AP: 10,000 (10,000)
Steal: Chocobo Feather /Chocobo Wing

The main issue with this little doggie is that he is insanely fast. Fangs of Chaos will lower one character's HP by 90% and inflict Confuse on them, at the end of the day without Confuseproof you'll just be spending most of your time Remedying Confuse and healing up your characters. Otherwise you'll need Aim stacked up high so you can actually hit the bugger and Luck if you fancy. Fangs of Hell may cause Instant Death so Deathproof may prove useful but not essential as it mostly misses. Because his HP is so bloody high it's imperative to have Break Damage Limit, and good luck hitting him. The Aeons have a better go at hitting them than your party do but then again I stand by my statement that using Aeons is like cheating... Just keep trying to to hit and you will, no problemo!

The main reason you will return to face Fenrir over and over again is to gather up his much sought after Agility Spheres which he will drop upon defeat. He will also drop armour and weapons with status effect strikes and protection, such as Dark, Zombie, Silence, Stone etc, easily sold on for petty cash.

Ornitholestes[]

To create this Lizard type creature you'll have to capture all of those Lizard type creatures roaming around Spira, you will recieve Stamina Springs x99. Very nice. You will also need Poisonproof or Ward to help this battle go along swimmingly.

Species Conquest Creation : Ornitholestes
Ornitholestes-ffx-enemy
HP: 800,000 (99,999)
Attacks: Drain Touch, Poison Touch
AP: 10,000 (10,000)
Steal: Rename Card /Chocobo Wing

You will almost always be Ambushed by this lizard type fiend. So this guy has two attacks, aside from his normal scratchy scratchy move will either Poison you or Drain your HP, the latter will occur when his HP lowers to a certain point. Aim and Luck stacked up will greatly assist and as always Hasteaga, otherwise just keep hammering away until you lost interest of the lizard perishes. The latter is always best.

Ornitholestes will drop Gambler's Spirit x2 and Armour with Defence Boosts. The best aspect of facing this bugger is the Weaponry drops, the weapons have Double AP.

Pteryx[]

Catching all those bulbous floating birds around Spira will create this bird. Your reward will be Mega Phoenix x99, they are particularly useful in all Monster Arena battles.

Species Conquest Creation : Pteryx
Pteryx-ffx-enemy
HP: 100,000 (99,999)
Attacks: Beak, Beak of Woe
AP: 10,000 (10,000)
Steal: Smoke Bomb x4 /Candle of Life x1

Beak attack will have the Delay Effect on the singular character it hits. Beak of Woe may hit one character of the whole party and will inflict Curse, don't bother with Protect as it will also Dispel this. Pteryx will always Ambush you and have Regen constantly cast on him, doesn't make a difference, it only restores 100 HP every now and again sometimes a couple thousand but nothing to worry about.

As always stacking up Luck and Aim will heighten your chances of hitting the bugger. Keep with it and it'll be dead in a few hits with Break Damage Limit.

Pteryx will be your provider of Evasion Spheres. Weapons and Armour come with Strength and Defence boosts, not too exciting, farm those Evasion Spheres.

Hornet[]

Bzz Bzzz you'll need busy bees for this fiend to be created by Victor, he'll also give you Mana Tonic x60. Lots of status effects will harm you in the upcoming battle, statuses which may cause issues will be Silence, Sleep, Darkness, Death, Confuse and Poison, equip armour with Protection which you may think you'll need, mainly Confuseproof and Deathproof will be most useful.

Species Conquest Creation : Hornet
Hornet-ffx-enemy
HP: 620,000 (50,000)
Attacks: Bewitching Stab, Curaga, Venomous Stab
AP: 10,000 (10,000)
Steal: Poison Fang x4 /Purifying Salt x2

As always you may be ambushed. As always stack up those Aim and Luck moves to ensure you actually hit this guy. Otherwise with Confuseproof and Deathproof equipped it should make things easier, otherwise any of the other status effects the bee may inflict shouldn't harm you much, just be prepared with plenty of Remedies and Healing Waters. Keep hitting it with your stacked up Luck and Accuracy and it'll fall eventually.

Accuracy Spheres will be your port of call here, weapon and armour drops will provide Strength and Defence boosts as always it would seem.

Vidatu[]

All those floating imps will produce this mega floating imp and give you Mana Springs x99, lovely!

Species Conquest Creation : Vidatu
Vidatu
HP: 95,000 (10,000)
Attacks: Osmose, Ultima
AP: 10,000 (10,000)
Steal: Lightning Gem x4 /Mana Tonic x1

So Vidatu has Mighty Guard and Regen equipped and an insanely high Magic Defence so don't bother with hitting this guy with magic. As Celestial Weapons ignore defence they will take two hits to destroy this floating bugger. Aim will assist you in this case, should take two hits when they actually connect, no problemo.

If this takes longer Osmose will drain all of your MP and Ultima shouldn't hurt too much, if it does just use Shell to dull the damage.

You'll win MP Spheres from Vidatu, excellent! Weapons come with Double AP and armour gives you MP boosts.

One-Eye[]

Floating Eyes must be caught to create this generic one eyed fiend, Stamina Tablets x60 will be yours.

Species Conquest Creation : One-Eye
One-Eye
HP: 150,000 (15,000)
Attacks: Shockwave, Black Stare.
AP: 10,000 (10,000)
Steal: Lunar Curtain x1 /Blessed Gem x1

You may be Ambushed and have to suffer Shockwave here. This will cause Slow Confuse and Sleep, yikes! Black Stare will inflict massive damage on one party member (more likely than not killing them) and Curse them.

Basically you could prepare by defending against these status ailments or try the chancier method of hoping you aren't ambushed, quickly use Hasteaga (or ensure your Agility Levels are high enough) and kill it before it makes a move just to prevent the frustration. A few swipes of your Celestial Weapons and it shouldn't last very long.

Magic Defence Spheres will be dropped upon your success and Weapons with Triple AP and Armour with MP boosts. Very nice.

Jumbo Flan[]

It's like a really nasty looking bit of jelly... Wibbly! To create this beast you'll have to catch a fair few of those other jelly flans wibbling about Spira and you will recieve Twin Stars x60. You'll notice a rise in difficulty from this point onwards when facing the oncoming fiends.

Species Conquest Creation : Jumbo Flan
Final Fantasy X Jumbo Flan
HP: 1,300,000 (99,999)
Attacks: Blizzaga, Curaga, Firaga, Flare, Regen, Reflect, Thundaga, Ultima, Waterga.
AP: 10,000 (10,000)
Steal: Lunar Curtain x1 /Mana Tablet x1

This giant flan will come equipped with Auto-Haste and Auto-Reflect with an immunity to physical attacks, and absorbs all elements, so this is going to be a tough one. Get Reflect cast on at least one party member, and Shell for those with a particularly low Magic Defence. Doublecast Ultima will work pretty well here as will Doublecast Flare of course bounced off the team member with Reflect on them. Follow this up with bouncing Slow off this character too just to slow the Flan down a bit get Hasteaga on your party to gain even more time. Because someone who has the Reflect status on them it's better to just heal using Healing Water - much easier. So keep bouncing Double Flare and Ultima off the bugger along with someone who has high magic using Copycat.

Eventually the bugger will cast Regen on itself healing for over 10,000 HP each time it's attacked, if you're not hitting for more than that a turn you'll be healing the bugger, Break Damage Limit is important here.

Anima's Pain attack also proves to be really effective in this case, plus Break Damage limit, it'll take much less time than relying on a lower levelled party. It's up to you.

Jumbo Flan will drop Magic Spheres, oh yes, you will be facing this guy a lot, have fun with that! He also has Weaponry with the Magic Booster Ability and Armour Fire, Water or Ice Eater abilities. Exciting.

With half of these bastards down I will see you on the next page to tackle the remainder. You know you can't contain your fear and trepidation, but you must continue, I impore you!
