Part 10 of the walkthrough! With the funds from my sponsors, I've decided to diversify the walkthrough to appeal to a broader audience and possibly pick up readers in non English speaking countries. Thus, this walkthrough is now being offered in English, French, Italian, Spanish and German. To change to the language of your choice, press Ctrl, Alt, Delete on your keyboard, and click "End Task". A list of language options will appear shortly after.

Moonflow (cont.)[]

Across the river, somehow O'aka teleported across and lost his equipment stock on the way, selling only items now. Atop the nearby ramp is the 12th Al Bhed primer. To the left is the next area, take the Ether and keep going left. Someone is lying on the ground, walk up to them. It's an Al Bhed. She stands up and strips off the wetsuit in a cutscene that focuses far too much on her ass. I actually like this chick, but come on. Guess who!

PLAYABLE CHARACTER - Rikku

FFX Artwork Rikku

Rikku is widely hated, but I like her. Mostly because she's Al Bhed, so as you can imagine she and Wakka will end up clashing a lot in verbal spats about Yevon, machina and Al Bhed. And Rikku, having actual logic on her side, will win. So I like Rikku because finally we have a party member not afraid to tell Wakka to fuck off. And she's cute. Yeah, I admit it, I think Rikku is cute. Yuna is superior but Rikku isn't bad.

In battle, Rikku is...uh...um...I dunno really. Rikku can instantly kill machina-type enemies by using Steal on them, but a Thundara spell works just as well too. She can Use special items, but if you really wanted to you could have given Kimahri that command back when you got Steal. Rikku has no real niche, she's just got a few random abilities like Spare Change and Mug. She's a horrible attacker and has no real role in battle to fulfill. If we had gotten her before Kimahri had slipped into her Sphere grid, we could have used her for Stealing, but its too late. The only thing Rikku is good for, Kimahri does now, and he has a lot more HP and Strength than Rikku so he can attack too. Rikku can't. It doesn't help everyone is already halfway through their Sphere grids by now and Rikku is just getting started. So her HP and stats are far behind everyone else.

Rikku is useful for one thing, her Overdrive, Mix. This lists all the combinations, and this lists what items to combine to make what. Mix is a great skill, it really is. And we'll have to use Rikku in the future, because along with Tidus and Wakka she's the only party member who can fight in water. Thus, as times we'll need to use her, so for the next little while cycle her into the party to level her up. Since Rikku can Steal, Kimahri is now a benchwarmer, I've no further use for him. Rikku, once she finishes her grid get her into Yuna's grid and then Tidus, since you'll be using her with Wakka and Tidus she can function as a healer when with them.

The party comes over, and Wakka again demonstrates how stupid he is. Tidus says "She's an Al Bhe...beh..." and Wakka doesn't pick up on it. Nor does he notice the Al Bhed wetsuit Rikku shed lying on the sand behind her somewhere. Wakka says its cool Tidus met the girl who saved his life again, and goes "praise be to Yevon." Rikku is facing away from the screen when he does this, but I'm fairly certain she's either rolling her eyes or making a face at him thinking "who the hell is this douchebag?" The three girls go off to talk alone and tell Wakka to buzz off. Tidus' earlier flub tipped them off, but not Wakka. Yuna asks Auron permission to have Rikku along, and he tells immediately by her eyes that she's an Al Bhed. Wakka is naturally clueless to all of this, and Tidus narrates that Wakka has no idea Rikku is an Al Bhed. So once again we've established Wakka is the dumbest member of the party, just in case you forgot.

In the next battle we'll find a Treasure Chest. I've no clue how we can be attacked by Treasure Chests, but use Steal on it to open it and get two Bomb Cores. Then a monster attacks and you can try Mix. Ignore Rikku and save the Bomb Cores, instead mix something like, two Grenades, which I still had kicking around. Now use those Bomb Cores to teach Ifrit Fira so he can heal himself in battle, yay! Now the path is linear, along the way is a chest with four Antidotes and one with a Mega-Potion. Then enter the guado city of Guadosalam.

Guadosalam[]

Immediately, someone comes up to Yuna on the behalf of Seymour and invites you to Seymour's manor. At this point, with Rikku in the party you can customize new abilities onto your armor. Go ahead to the large red door, nearby is a Mega-Potion. Head left, in the house here is the 13th Al Bhed primer, we're halfway done now. In the back is a chest with 3000 gil. Go back to the red door and head inside to find Seymour's place. Up the stairs is a chest with two Hi-Potions. Now watch the long scene, talking to the party when you get control back to forward the scene, and if that doesn't work poke around the room you're in. Basically, Seymour again proposes to Yuna. He also asks Auron "why he's still here" and says he's keen to the scent of the Farplane. Wha?

When you leave the mansion there's another scene where they discuss the marriage. Yuna is thinking it over. Anyway, Guadosalam is hard to describe in words, so go left and down the ramp, in the door here is O'aka and the normal town shop. Leave and go left and down past two Guado to find an Elixir. Go up the nearby ramp to access the Farplane. Behind the left wall is a chest with eight Lightning Marbles, very nice. Go up and enter the Farplane now. The Farplane is where the souls of the dead rest. Inside its just a bunch of scenes, talk to Wakka first, he talks to Chappu who still looks nothing like Tidus. He mentions he thought since Tidus looked like Chappu, maybe Chappu was alive somewhere. I didn't think it was possible, but Wakka may actually have a negative IQ. After this scene, the Brotherhood for Tidus gets several new abilities and is by far his best weapon up to this point.

Talk to Lulu now, and then Yuna. She's gonna marry Seymour. Also, Tidus tries to conjure Jecht's spirit, but Jecht is Sin and technically alive so it fails. Then there's a flashback where we find out Tidus was a really needy kid who hated his father because he had to compete with Jecht for his mother's attention. With that, we're done. As we leave, the spirit of Seymour's father follows the gang out. Yuna sends him, and Auron is weakened by the ceremony. Strange. The ghost drops a sphere. The party speculates Jyscal was an Unsent because of a strong emotional tie to the world. Go back to Seymour's mansion, and watch the scene. Go to the entrance to the city and make to go down the tunnel to the left. Shelinda shows up and blabs Seymour has left to go to Macalania Temple. Go back to the party, then go back to the tunnel with Shelinda to advance to the next area.

Thunder Plains[]

The Thunder Plains are plagued by a continuous thunder storm. The intro scene here features yet another close-up of Rikku's ass. I don't want to notice these things kiddies, but its hard to ignore when its taking up a third of the screen. Anyway, when crossing if you're not close enough to a tower, lightning may hit you. Press X when you see the flash to dodge it. Now, let's cover enemies, and since now you need items to teach Aeons abilities and customize equipment, I'll tell you what items they have.

The Aerouge is a flier, it has Electro Marbles and rarely Lightning Marbles to Steal. 4 Electro Marbles can imbue a weapon with Lightningstrike (making the attack thunder-elemental), or imbue an armor with Lightning Ward, halving thunder damage. 8 Lightning Marbles give an Armor Lightningproof, nullifying thunder damage. 2 teach an Aeon Thundara, perfect for Ixion. The Buer is also a flyer, its rare steal is Musk, 16 give an armor Confuseward to sometimes negate confusion, 48 for Confuseproof and 100% protection. Gold Element is weak to Water and has more Electro Marbles to steal. Melusine has Petrify Grenades, handy for Riku's Mix and Use skills. 10 can customize a weapon with Stonetouch, meaning they sometimes petrify enemies, and 60 gives Stonestrike which almost always does. 20 gives an armor Stoneproof making you immune to Petrify. Kusariqqu is armored, and has Silver Hourglasses. 16 imbue an weapon with Slowtouch, or 10 to give an armor Slow Ward. 4 teach an Aeon slow and 20 teach an Aeon Delay Attack. Melusine, Kusariqqu and Buer all drop weapons with elemental properties, while Gold Element and Aerouge drop armor that resist and nullify thunder.

Iron Giants are massive armored enemies and have Light Curtains, 70 of them (yikes I know) gives an armor Auto-Protect. Nore reasonable is 6 to teach an Aeon Protect, or 8 for SOS Protect on an armor, which casts Protect on the character when they get low on HP. Iron Giants occasionally drop weapons with Magic+5% or +10%, and the same for Strength. The armor drops give HP+5% and +10%. The Larva have Lunar Curtains to steal, 80 of them give an armor Auto-Shell, or 8 for SOS Shell. 4 teaches Shell to an Aeon. Finally, the Qactuar has the Chocobo Feather, 10 of them can teach an Aeon Haste while 6 give Initiative and 20 give SPS Haste. They give a nice chuck of AP too, and drop good equipment with Initiative (boosts chance of pre-emptive strikes), and MP Stroll and HP Stroll (restore HP and MP while walking).

So, phew huh? If you can stockpile those Chocobo Feathers, Haste is an awesome skill to teach Aeons. Lightning and Electro Marbles are also good to have for Mixing, same with the two Curtain items. Steal every turn from every enemy here for sure. You'll find most enemies can only be stolen from once or twice with ease, after that it becomes a lot harder to get anything from them.

Now, immediately left is a chest with a Phoenix Down, and a save sphere. North beyond is the sphere are two Hi-Potions. Go north following the left wall. When you see a stone with an image on it, examine it. Now those awesome Qactuar enemies will appear. Just beyond the stone is a chest with 5000 gil. Go north now, watching the minimap for a small area on the far right with a Water Ball and another Qactuar stone. The more you examine the easier it is to meet them. Head north now and there'll be a small scene where Rikku freaks out to lightning. And yet another close-up of her ass. Auron decides to rest since Rikku is just as annoying as the lightning with her crying. Talk to Rikku and there's a small scene. Tell Rin the learning is going well, and he'll hand over Al Bhed Primer #14. Oh, and he knows Auron. Head into the back and Tidus will try to peep on Yuna. That Sphere Jyscal left behind is his will. Then Wakka comes in and acts like an idiot.

Sweet dreams, we'll continue in the morning on the next page.
