Welp, no more procrastination. More writing the walkthrough. More watching Tidus whine and Yuna talk in that god-awful voice and Auron making all the things that seem wrong with this game disappear every time he appears on screen.

[edit] The Trail of Tears

Another pic of Auron, solely because I couldn't find anything constructive to put here, so I thought I'd put this game's story's saving grace here.

We open this part with Tidus commenting on the situation and making us feel bad for poor Yuna, who is stuck sending everyone who dies. I despise Yuna a lot, but I also feel kinda sorry for her. Poor thing. Always having to work whenever people die and not get paid. Well, that was her choice. She chose to live this crappy life she lives. Poor thing. We have to do something about this! The time will come when we can help Yuna. It's like the way I feel about Notre Dame football (or as I call them, Notre LAME). Their fans think their coach is the second coming of Knute Rockne, but us haters are the ones who understand that he sucks balls and that he should be fired.

Anyway, Auron and Kinoc will be talking about how all those who defied Yevon died while those who believed live on. Seymour tells Yuna what she already knows. God I hate that...thing. Especially because he sounds like he's coming onto poor Yuna. And now...Oh my god...Kimahri can TALK!!!! What took that damn thing so long to open his mouth? Did Operation Mi'ihen change him? Oh well. Tidus tries to make Kimahri smile. I've seen Lynx from Chrono Cross smile easier.

So anyway, here we are on the Djose Highroad with people all down in the dumps. And there are some new enemies here, too. First is the Bite Bug, which is annoying because it's fast and it can Poison you. Wakka has to snipe it out because it's flying. It drops various elemental weapons and weapons that increase Strength or Magic Power, but what we like is the armor it drops. It can increase your max MP by 5% or it can provide protection against Poison (no immunity, sadly).

Wild Garms? Last I checked, Garms were cyborg or mechanical dogs programmed to confuse you by the Empire. Anyway, this guy is a pushover, although it can put you to Sleep with its physical. It drops the same weapons the Bite Bug does, but its armor has resistance against Sleep or Silence, or it can boost Magic Defense a bit.

The Simurgh can be a bitch to make appear, which is important for later in the game when we get to kill every single monster in the game multiple times. It's a bird, so obviously that means it's flying and Wakka has to snipe it down. It's weak to Fire, just an FYI. It drops the usual weapons and armor that protects against Blindness. See how most enemies drop the same damn stuff?

Bunyips... I remember these from Chrono Cross, too. But they're Raldo palette swaps here. I forget what status they can cause, but they can cause one and they're pretty tough, actually. Kimahri and Auron can kill them easily, though. Its armor drops can either increase Defense slightly or can provide Berserk protection. Its weapon drops are the usual.

The Snow Flan...yay! Another enemy only Lulu can kill. I don't think I need to tell you its weakness. But I should tell you that Lulu should know all Level 2 spells by this point, so cast Fira, not Fire. It only drops ice elemental weapons and armor that provides resistance against Ice, and rarely armor that provides Ice immunity.

The last enemy here is the real problem of this place. This is the Basilisk. Now, the Basilisk doesn't look like any of the Basilisks from the previous games. Those were big-eyed lizards...this thing is a damn cobra...kinda like the Anacondaur from Final Fantasy VIII. And if you're not frightened by their looks, you'll get frightened by Stone Breath, which tries to petrify ALL your characters. And if it succeeds, you get a Game Over, my friend. It doesn't have any weaknesses and has 2025 HP, so it's gonna take a few hits. Worse, it often comes in pairs. Kimahri can use Lancet to learn Stone Breath, which he should do the first time you see these damn things. If you're desperate, try Sleep Attack, but it only works 25% of the time. Still, it's worth a shot because it's the only way you can survive Stone Breath. It actually has some interesting drops. Its weapon drops randomly petrify your opponents (or they can increase Strength and Magic Power a bit), and its armor drops provide some Stone resistance.

Also, you can fight Funguars, Geesarewa, and Lamashtus here, and they're still tough.

The path is straightforward, and the people have presents for you. Here's what you can get from them:

As you can plainly see, you should equip Yuna with that Soft Ring and keep her up front when those Basilisks attack so she can harmlessly absorb the Stone Breath.

Lastly, check behind a stalagmite on the path for the Al Bhed Primer XI, which translates the letter K for you.

That comment Tidus just made will have me using this pic whenever I have to display a pic of Tidus. Because it accurately describes him.

When you get to a fork in the road, you'll get another cutscene. Tidus will whine in a translation that I hear as "Are we there yet" and Lulu will tell us we have a long way to go. And Yuna will chirp in (I think this is the only time in the game she chirps, it's still rather annoying) that you get to pray at the temple in Djose! Wow, how long has it been since we've been in a temple? A long time, methinks. It's about time to say "Check-a-rooney!" Auron then truthfully calls Tidus a n00b, and I agree completely with this. He says not to tell Yuna about the Sin-Jecht connection. Tidus then denies that he ever will become emotional. I wonder what his standard for emotional really is? Because is he ever NOT emotional? You tell me. Anyway, it's time to go to Djose.

[edit] I thought dancing machina was forbidden.

I don't think this looks natural at all...

Okay, the Chocobo Knights are here, who all feel so bad that they defied Yevon. Somehow I have a feeling Operation Mi'ihen was just a ploy to get us believing in Yevon even more. I'll admit, the first time I played through this game, it worked on me. So I'm gonna make it work on you. You're-going-to-like-them. You're-going-to-like-them. Did it work?

Anyway, here we are at the lightning-themed Djose temple. I admit I was a little petutzed by this, not only because I've never seen something like this in ANY video game, but also because in the world of summons I'd expect to get Shiva after Ifrit and before Ramuh? It doesn't make any sense. But oh well, here we are. Anyway, we can't go in because there's already a Summoner inside. Tidus actually wonders if it's Dona, which is actually smart of him because I wonder if it's Dona, too. I hate Dona and I hate Tidus. I hate most characters in this game if you haven't figured it out. In fact, the only character I have absolutely NO beef with is sitting up on top of this page.

You'll find either Luzzu or Gatta here. If you told Gatta to stay put, it'll be him. If you let him go fight, it'll be Luzzu. I actually taught Gatta how to be a man and made him stay, but it seems he's just a big whiner after all. You can save your game and go to the store. The weapons here increase either Strength or Magic Power by 5%, and the armor increases Defense by 5%. Buy it if you want; I don't care. There are a bunch of chests outside the temple. The one behind the store has 4 Ability Spheres, and the one next to where the Chocobo Knights are standing has 4,000 Gil in it. There's also a chest with a Switch Hitter for Wakka, which has no abilities at all, but it does have some empty slots.

Ahh, the sound of singing hymnals. In the temple lobby, you'll see the Summoner come out. It's not Dona, though! It's a much nicer man, named Isaaru, and he's flanked by his brothers Maroda and Pacce. I kinda like Pacce. Mostly because it's fun to see a kid acting as a guardian. Although I wish they pronounced his name properly ("Pache," not "Pase.") Isaaru starts basically begging for Yuna's autograph because he worships Braska. He then makes a bet with Yuna to see who can defeat Sin first, and Yuna accepts. I would be above such childish games. This is just plain dumb.

Anyway, once you regain control of Tidus, it's time to check out the rooms in the wing. The east room has a chest with a Mega-Phoenix, which is a Phoenix Down that works on everyone. The path leading to the west room has a chest with an Ether, and there's a chest in hte back of the west room with a Remedy. Once you're done with all this, it's time to go to the Cloister of Trials! On your way in, Maroda will warn you to be careful because there are people kidnapping Summoners. Pacce gets all excited, but Maroda calms him down. Anyway, onto the Cloister!

Remember these puzzles? This time, it's all lightning themed, and your goal is to get a big Yevon symbol in the center of the Temple to light up entirely. The firs thing to do is to get the two Djose Spheres out from each side of the wall and to put them in the door to open the door. The next room has the symbol puzzle. There's also a pedestal in the middle with another Djose Sphere. There are also two more Djose Spheres on the north wall. Take out these two and take them to the right, where you see a Glyph glowing on the wall. There are two holes you can put the Djose Spheres into, and you'll see it charges up something on the ceiling. Push the pedestal with the Djose Sphere on it under the charge and it'll charge up the Djose Sphere. Put this charged up Djose Sphere into the hole just northeast of the Yevon symbol and it'll open the door to the north.

Now, take the two Djose Spheres that were powering the charger out of their holes and onto the pedestal. Run all the way to the left and step on the floor switch to move the pedestal back to the center of the room. Push the pedestal forward into the new room and push it off the edge into the lightning. It'll create a stepping stone for you to get to the other side. There, push the thing with the Sphere on it in and it'll light up the eye on the Yevon symbol. Go back across and step on the floor switch to bring back the pedestal. Now, put the supercharged Djose Sphere into the hole directly across from where it is now and it'll light up the Yevon symbol's "head." Take the other two Djose Spheres out of the pedestal and put them in the holes all the way back at the beginning to light up the Yevon symbol's "wings." The symbol is all lit!

But wait, there's more! If you look all the way to the left where the floor switch is, there's something flashing on the wall. Touch this and it'll open up, revealing the temple's Destruction Sphere. Take it, and step on the Yevon symbol to make an elevator appear. Go upstairs and go north into a room with five pedestals. Push them in to make another pedestal appear and some stairs open up. But don't go up the stairs yet! Put down the Destruction Sphere (if you want to play the saxophone!) in the pedestal and it'll open up an alcove with a chest in it. This has a nice Magic Sphere in it! Sweet! NOW you can head up the stairs.

You're finally in the antechamber! Here we get to see our old "friend" Dona and her guardian Barthello, who I think is just guarding her for sex, because he never talks and has the IQ of an eggplant. He'll suddenly break down and become a huge baby when he sees Auron, and asks for his autograph, much to Dona's dismay. It's really funny to watch though. After this, you have to wait an eternity for Yuna to come out. Barthello is still acting like a fangirl though. Eventually, Yuna will come out and you'll get a new Aeon! You'd probably think it would be Ramuh, no? Well TOOOOOOOOO BAD! I was pissed off when I was stuck with a friggin' unicorn named Ixion. But he's actually quite tough, and he's a favorite of mine.

The next morning, you'll be outside. Try to leave, and Wakka will call you back. I like trying to ditch the group because it's funny to keep doing it. If you're looking for Yuna, go in the left room in the temple. She's sleeping. Have Tidus be a prick and wake the poor girl up. Again, I hate Yuna, but I feel sorry for her. The chick was spending all night Sending the dead. She's overworked. But Tidus has to be a prick so you can get going. But Yuna is having a bad hair day, and Auron makes that official. Anything Auron says is a FACT. Do NOT question Auron.

Anyway, it's time to go. Save your game. The people on the path out of Djose have a Halberd, 2 Hi-Potions, and 10 normal Potions. Onto the next part!
