Okay. I didn't know whether to make this a bonus or a mainstream part, but I want to end on the Final Battle, so we're gonna start with the rest of the Monster Arena bosses that now opened up because we captured 10 of every catchable monster in the game. Let's start with the one Area Conquest we have left!
Contents |
[edit] Sin conquest
For catching 1 of every monster inside Sin (yes, I made you catch 10, but you need 10 of them to unlock the more powerful stuff), you'll get 99 Lunar Curtains, but you should have plenty of those. Your enemy is the Abaddon, which is a palette swap of the Varuna. In fact, it actually has most of the same attacks the Varuna does. It loses Haste, Death, and Dispel, however, and Emblem of Fate is replaced by Emblem of the Cosmos. Put on your status whore armor, because Pharaoh's Curse is its favorite attack. Beyond that, just use Hastega (you don't have to Mix), and then Quick Hit away until it dies. Or, summon the Magus Sisters and rely on Passado for damage. You can Steal 3 common Purifying Salts and a rare Shining Gem. I don't recommend Stealing, but you can if you want to. For winning, you'll get a Mana Tablet, and 2 for an Overkill. Its weapon drops increase your Magic Power by random amounts and its armor drops increase your Magic Defense by random amounts.
[edit] Remaining Species Conquests
UOkay, there are two of these, so get ready!
[edit] Iron Giant conquest
For catching 10 of every Iron Giant type enemy (this includes BOTH versions of the Gemini inside Sin), you'll get 60 Mana Tablets, but you should have plenty of those. Your enemy is the Ironclad, and it's a really tough Iron Giant with 2 million HP. It has 3 attacks, all of which are powerful and annoying: Reppageki, which it uses ALL THE TIME as a counterattack, Bushinzan, which damage ALL party members AND reduces your MP to 0, and the very powerful Shinryudan. Its normal attack pattern also goes in this order of abilities. Hopefully, you've fought Pteryx lots of times and got lots of Evasion Spheres that way, so you can pump your Evade up. If it's high enough, the Ironclad can't touch you! Begin with Banishing Blade to lower its defense, then cast Hastega. You probably won't even need to Quick Hit unless your Evade is low. Don't waste time Stealing. It has 4 common Light Curtains and a rare Stamina Tablet. It'll take a long time, but YOU WANT THE OVERKILL in this fight. It drops an HP Sphere (and 2 for an Overkill!). ts weapon drops increase your Strength by random amounts and its armor drops increase your HP by random amounts. You want to fight this a lot to get your HP way up.
[edit] Mushroom conquest
For catching 3 of every mushroom (yes, I made you catch 10, but you need 10 of them to unlock the more powerful stuff), you'll get 99 Healing Springs, and you might need more of these. Your enemy is the Sleep Sprout. It only has 98,000 HP, but unless you can kill it in one hit, you can't afford to attack it. It counters all attacks with Goodnight, which is like Bad Breath. It also uses Level 3 spells, Flare, and Ultima. At low levels, you'll need to summon the Magus Sisters to kill it, or summon Anima and use Oblivion for an instant win. Don't bother Stealing. It has 4 common Poison Fangs and a rare Farplane Wind. For beating it, you'll win a Teleport Sphere, and 2 for an Overkill. Its weapon drops inflict various statuses and its armor drops provide status immunities. You want to beat this once and only once.
[edit] The rest of the Original monsters
Okay, now for the really tough ones. There's one I haven't beat, one I beat, and one I haven't even faced yet. Get ready!
[edit] The Neslug
To unlock the Neslug, which has its OWN SPRITE (it's the ONLY ENEMY that does this), you have beat all the Area Conquests. Your initial reward is 99 Winning Formulas, and they'll help out, but they're not necessary. Now, this guy is INCREDIBLY tough. Not like the Whelk, which was an easy snail. This overgrown thing is VERY HARD. Its attacks won't necessarily break the damage limit if your stats are high enough, but they do have some bad consequences. It uses Megatron, which will Confuse a party member, and its dreaded Slime attack, which is VERY POWERFUL, and casts Silence, Poison, Slow, Curse, Armor Break, and Mental Break on you, so its subsequent attacks WILL break the damage limit. Now, it has 4 million HP, so it's gonna take a long time to bring down. Basically, have Rikku Mix Hyper Mighty G to get your positive buffs on, and then just start Quick Hitting like mad, but wait, there's more!
After you've dealt 2 million HP of damage to him, Neslug will make like Caignazzo and retreat into its shell to recover! Once in the shell, it's immune to ALL PHYSICAL ATTACKS. And if that's not enough, it'll heal itself for 6 digit HP each turn (that's over 100,000 HP, which is above the 99,999 cap!) Change of plans here. You'll need to bring in Lulu and Yuna, whose ultimate weapons have One MP Cost, and have them Hasted and Doublecasting Ultima each turn while the other party member uses Copycat. You NEED to be able to multiple hit him when he's in the shell. The shell breaks after you dealt 1 million HP damage to it. Neslug then uses Slime a lot until it dies.
There is a way to avoid having to deal with the Shell altogether. After 20 Quick Hits at 99,999 HP damage, you'll have dealt 1,999,980 HP of damage to it, which is 20 less than when it goes into the shell! Now, have Wakka use his Attack Reels and make him hit 12 times, and the Neslug will never retreat into its shell! Don't bother Stealing in this fight; all it has is a common Gambler's Spirit and a rare Friend Sphere. When you finally bring down this monstrosity, you'll win a Pendulum, and 2 for an Overkill. Its weapon drops have Triple AP and its armor drops increase your max HP by random amounts.
[edit] The Ultima Buster
To unlock the Ultima Buster, which is a palette swap of Sinspawn Gui, you have to have caught 5 of each monster in the game. Your initial reward is 99 Dark Matters, and you'll probably have won those as rare drops from the other enemies on occasion. This is a new item, and 60 of these will add Break Damage Limit to a weapon, but you already have this on your Ultimate Weapons. If you're playing the international version, you can make an armor that's immune to EVERYTHING, but we're not playing the international version because we're poor slobs. Anyway, I've beaten the Ultima Buster once. Its attacks are its VERY POWERFUL physical, and 4 out of 5 times his attack will be a VERY POWERFUL Ultima spell. The head attacks with Contamination, which puts Poison, Slow, Confuse, Zombie, Power Break, Magic Break, Armor Break, and Mental Break on a character every three turns. Not fun. IMMEDIATELY have Rikku Mix Hyper Mighty G. Then, go after the head. Once you did that, start Quick Hitting the arms and the body. Whenever Ultima's turn comes up, have Yuna summon an Aeon to take the brunt of Ultima. If the Magus Sisters survive, you might even get a chance to use Passado! Just be patient and you'll win this. Don't bother Stealing in this fight; all it has is a common Gambler's Spirit and a rare Level 3 Key Sphere. When you finally bring down this monstrosity, you'll win a Winning Formula, and 2 for an Overkill. Its weapon drops have Triple AP, Triple Overdrive, and Overdrive -> AP and its armor drops have Break MP Limit. You'll find use for this equipment, but it's minimal at this stage in the game, because there are only a few enemies left.
[edit] The Nemesis
To unlock the Nemesis, which is a palette swap of the Omega Weapon, you have to have caught 10 of each monster in the game AND beaten every single thing in the Monster Arena up to this point. Your initial reward is 10 Master Spheres, which are a new item. A Master Sphere will activate ANY NODE, ANYWHERE on the Sphere Grid for any reason. Now, for the fight itself. Nemesis is the hardest boss in the game. Nemesis has maximum Strength and Magic Power and high defenses and Speed. Having 255 Speed is the most important thing to have, so hopefully you've beaten Fenrir enough times to get enough Agility Spheres. Now, its physical attack WILL kill anyone it hits, and it has an even more powerful Eraser attack. Its weakest attack is Ultra Spark, but it puts Poison, Slow, Curse, and Power Break on the entire party. It also uses the very powerful defense ignoring Armageddon, and a powerful Ultima spell. IMMEDIATELY begin by mixing Hyper Mighty G, and then start Quick Hitting away. It has 10 million HP, which is second place with most HP in a Final Fantasy game at the time of me writing this, excluding international versions (only Yiazmat, from Final Fantasy XII, has more HP). Just keep Quick Hitting it, you should get in about 20 Quick Hits, until its turn comes up. When you see it coming up, swap for Yuna and summon an Aeon to take the attack. Then, go back to Quick Hitting until it shows up to attack again, and summon another Aeon. Do this until it dies. If you're VERY bold, you can Steal from it. Its common Steal is a Level 4 Key Sphere and its rare Steal is a Warp Sphere. When you beat it, you'll win a Warp Sphere and bragging rights that you just beat the most powerful enemy in Final Fantasy X!
Now, we're done with that, so back to Sin and the Final Battle!
