Okay. I decided I'd put off the next part of "Lord of the Wings" another day. You see, guys, I had a very busy day today. I had to run around and do errands, run three miles, and do homework. And I was sitting in traffic for a long time because the highway is shut down and St. Louis, Missouri is a shitty city for New Yorkers and New Jersians such as BH and myself who rely on mass transit to get around. So, I'm gonna spend my time doing two things: getting ready for my state engineering exam and writing this walkthrough. But I'm sure you're not interested in my personal life anyway. You're more interested in biting my ass for me to get this done. And I want to get this done by the end of the month. So, let's crank up CSM's unofficial Final Fantasy X soundtrack (because Nobuo took a backseat to some horrendous voice acting) and play some more of the tenth installment in this series, shall we?

[edit] Hit the Gas, There Ain’t no Brakes on this Lost Highway

This is what happens when you morons leave the city and go to the suburbs! Stop it at once!

In case you haven't figured out, I like to use song lyrics in my titles a lot. Blame the fact that I'm both a musician and a music appreciator.

Anyway, this truly IS a lost highway. It's completely abandoned except for the Pyrefly commute to work. There are no new enemies here; just the ones you fought in the caves on Mt. Gagazet and the Bashura from the Gagazet exterior. There are two chests to look for on the highway. The first has a Fortune Sphere and the second has a Spiritual Targe for Rikku, which is like a Tintinabar, except it resotres MP instead of HP. Just work your way along the lost highway and you'll eventually come to a large building. Some old dude will welcome you. Save your game and go into the building.

There are new enemies here in the Zanarkand Dome. All of them are palette swaps of the illegal enemies you fought in Bevelle. First are the Fallen Monks that use a gun and the ones that use a flamethrower. Watch out for these guys because they can put Zombie on you, especially the ones with the flamethrowers. You can Steal 2 common Candles of Life and a rare Purifying Salt, so stock up on both if you're low. You don't need to catch any of these guys so use whatever strategies you want, also know that they're undead. Their weapon drops let you counter any Magic attack, while their armor drops provide some Zombie protection.

All right, now for the forbidden Machina that not even Yevon admits they use. Remember, you can't Steal to kill them, so you have to do it the hard way. First is the YKT-11, which, of course, uses Thrust Kick to eject a character from the battle if it's alone, so you'll have to kill them first or kill them quickly. You can Steal 3 common Holy Waters and 2 rare Ethers. Use Firaga and Waterga to kill them (how the hell they're weak to fire is still beyond me, but you have to do what you have to do). They drop generic weapons and armor that provides some minor elemental resistance. Then there's the YAT-97. This is the one with the cannons that looks like the FFVI Sky Base. Fortunately, it doesn't have any ID, but that cannon HURTS. You can't attack it until you kill the things in front of it, then you can close in on it and kill it. It has the same stuff to Steal and win, and the same strategies as the other one.

The last enemy here is the Defender Z. You know what this guy can do, and you're not going to like 42,300 HP. You're going to hate its Blast Punch counterattack, its powerful physical, and the fact that it doesn't have any real weaknesses, so Armor Break them and then smack 'em to death. Their weapons are pretty much weapons that boost your Strength and armor that casts Protect when your HP gets low, but they can drop Level 2 Key Spheres and rarely Level 3 Key Spheres, so this is a great way to get more Key Spheres! Oh, and you can Steal Lunar Curtains from them. The common Steal is 1 and the rare is 2.

[edit] Testimonials of the past

Now, when you enter this building, you'll see a scene where a crusader asks a summoner if she can kill herself for her. Lulu will be all like "OMG OMG OMG IT'S LADY YOCUN! SHE'S LIEK TEH BEST SUMMONAR EVAR!!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!" I didn't think Lulu could be such a fangirl. I'd expect such nonsense out of Rikku's mouth, but not Lulu's. Anyway, you regain control of the party now.

Follow the linear path until you get out from under the tunnel. At the bottom part of the walkway, there's a ramp you can climb up to get on top of the tunnel. There's a chest there with 10,000 Gil. Keep walking and you'll come to a save point. The next thing you'll see is a little boy and his mother. The boy is pissed because his mom is going to transform herself into a Fayth for him to use to defeat Sin, because that's the only way he can become popular. He doesn't want to, though. He says his mother is the only person he cares about. Wakka and Rikku confirm that, yes, the kid, who looks a lot like Seymour, is Seymour. There are three paths here. Two of them lead to dead ends. One dead end has a chest with a Friend Sphere on it. Now, go on the one non-dead end path. There's a point where you'll see a path go down behind you off the top end of the path. This leads to a chest with another Level 3 Key Sphere, so get it.

Next, you'll see our pals, the cooler bunch: Braska, Auron, and Jecht. Auron can't accept that Braska's gonna die even after Jecht does. Braska tries to make Auron lose all his sense, and it works...for now. Ahead is the entrance to the next area. Here, you'll see the terrific trio again, and this time Jecht says he wants fireworks, and Braska says to wait until after they beat Sin. When you regain control, check the right side of this room for a chest with a Luck Sphere, and go ahead and save your game. The Cloister of Trials is up ahead, but before entering you have to get all your Overdrives, Aeons included, charged up!

[edit] The last Cloister

This cloister is kinda different from the others. There's a puzzle on a screen and you have to step on the tiles that reveal the number of tiles on the screen. The tiles you step on to activate them are lit up for you, and you can kinda see the outlines in the floor. Step up and hit the first one, which is an orange T, then hit the long yellow one on the right. Hit the other orange T in the room, then hit the green Zigzag in the north, and lastly, the blue L in the northwest. This solves the puzzle and opens the door.

Now, you'll ses six pedestals come out of the walls. You need to push the four corner ones in, one at a time, and a puzzle similar to the first one will activate in the next room. Instead of explaining how to do this, I'm just gonna steal borrow BH's nice diagrams and use those. Here they are.

I hope that was helpful, and I hope BH doesn't behead me for "borrowing" his stuff. Please, do not let BH behead me!

And now for the two center pedestals. Push the pedestal on the left in to find a... Kilika Sphere? I think the creators had a location problem because we're in Zanarkand and there should be Zanarkand Spheres here. Push the pedestal on the right in to find a Besaid Sphere. These things shouldn't exist all the way up here. Anyway, take them and put them in the holes in the next room.

[edit] Gimme Three Steps

You'll be back at the first room, only the colors are very strange and there's a Save Point here. Equip armor that protects against Berserk. Now, go into the next room. You'll be thrown in against a boss!

I'll never understand what a Spectral is anyway...

This is the Spectral Keeper. It's another one of those bosses that can be a bit tricky (I died a few times on this boss). Now, your characters are standing on some platforms. There are six total, and only one character can occupy one at a time. Now, if you attack the Spectral Keeper physically, it'll counterattack with a VERY powerful attack that hits the three platforms in front of him. For this reason, the person attacking should always have the two platforms next to him or her free, or else stick with magic, or attack when no one is in the front. Use the Move Trigger Command to move to an adjacent platform. Now, there's another catch in this fight. Occasionally a Glyph Mine will activate on one of the platforms. Do NOT HAVE ANY CHARACTERS ON THE PLATFORMS THAT ARE ACTIVATED WHEN SPECTRAL KEEPER GETS HIS TURN. If the Spectral Keeper detonates a mine and a character is on that platform, prepare to know the true meaning of pain. The Spectral Keeper also uses Berserk Tail, which I think is obvious what this does, which is why I suggested Berserk immunity. You can Steal a common Ether and a rare Turbo Ether. When it gets low on HP, summon an Aeon for the Overkill, and pick up your prize: some Level 4 Key Spheres, elemental weapons, and armor with elemental immunities.

Now, recharge any Overdrives you lost in this fight, and go down the elevator in this room. The end of our pilgrimage is nigh...
