Alright, Yevon officially sucks now. We are now Al Bhed supporters. So, let's escape from Bevelle!

[edit] The Trial

The single most corrupt panel of justices ever invented.

Kinoc said it was gonna be a fair trial. Well, you don't get a lawyer and there's no jury, so good luck trying to convince the judges who are more biased than the entire British Ministry of Magic and the Chancellor of Guardia that you're innocent (the judges are NOT monsters in disguise this time, they're real people).

We finally get to meet the fourth Maester of Yevon: Kelk Ronso, who will be presiding over the trial. He accuses Yuna of killing Seymour (good riddance) and joining the Al Bhed, which in Yevon's eyes is treason. But Yuna responds by pointing out that Seymour killed Jyscal while he was still a maester. Kelk is surprised by this news, but apparently Seymour told the other maesters about it and they let him get away with it! Now we know how corrupt Yevon REALLY is. A bunch of politicians trying to get power for themselves by murder and bribery! Because Mika and Kinoc don't seem to care at all! What kind of government IS this?

Lulu then mentions that because Seymour is dead he has to be sent to the Farplane, because otherwise he'd become a Fiend. It's Yuna's duty as a Summoner to do that. Mika acknowledges that in a sly voice, but then reveals that he, too, is dead. Kelk says that Mika was such a good Maester that they let him serve even after he dies. Kinoc says that rule by the dead is enlightening and better than rule by the living because the dead are apparently so perfect. Seymour adds that the dead are basically immortal. Mika says that because everything dies, death is the ultimate power in Spira, and that people dying is apparently a good thing. Yuna asks about the sacrifices Summoners make, and Mika says it's all a show to give Spirans hope. Mika says that anyone who even supports getting rid of all this death is a traitor. Corrupt indeed, Yevon is.

So the maesters find Tidus and his pals guilty. Later, in a cell, Tidus is flipping out like a little schoolgirl...AGAIN...although this time I don't blame him because he's trapped in a cell. But Auron, the wise man of the journey is in the same cell. Tidus asks him why the hell Spiran culture has to revolve around death and people dying. Auron then gives the "Spiral of Death" theory (which is probably how Spira got its name). Summoners die when they fight Sin, the bringer of death. Guardians give their lives to protect the summoners. The dead become Fiends which resent the living and try to kill them. The Fayth are souls of the dead trapped in stone. And, as we saw, the Maesters of Yevon are undead. Only Sin is reborn, and only to bring more death. Why the hell no one tries to stop this is beyond me. And why the hell doesn't Yevon try to do something about this? Why so much corruption? Where did this all begin? We're gonna learn all this later, trust me.

Kinoc comes by and tells Tidus and Auron they've been sentenced to the Via Purifico, a dungeon full of monsters that prisoners are supposed to give up and die in. Tidus gets pushed in by a bunch of Warrior Monks. He meets Wakka down there, and together they swear to escape. Rikku joins them as well, but we're not going to visit them first. First, we're going to visit someone else.

Meanwhile, the Maesters are having a nice chat. Kelk apparently was smart and was pissed off at them letting Seymour get away with murder and left Yevon. Mika reveals that he hates the Ronso with a passion. So he's racist, too! Seymour mentions that Yuna still has some use, and Mika says that she has to die because she uncovered classified information. Mika then demands that they put guards at the exits and kill anyone who tries to escape. Seymour wants to be the one to kill her, but Kinoc demands to come along as well.

[edit] Escaping from prison

You now control Yuna in the Via Purifico. Save your game and get ready for some tough times. Yuna is all alone, meaning if you get into random encounters you'll have to summon your Aeons. Since you'll be finding Lulu, Kimahri, and Auron here as well, when I describe the enemies I'm gonna assume you have them all.

First up is the Cave Iguion. Another lizard type enemy. Like most lizard type enemies this can Petrify you, so if you fight these with Yuna alone you'll have to Summon (and you'll have to all the time). Also summon if you don't have Kimahri with you, since this guy has sky high Magic Defense and Evade, meaning Lulu will be all but useless and Auron will have a tough time too. If you've been following this walkthrough, both Yuna and Kimahri can Steal. These guys have a common Soft and a rare Petrify Grenade, just like most lizards. They drop the usual weapons, and armor that protects against Slow.

You'll remember the Sahagins from early in the game. These things are easy to kill and weak against lightning. If you have Lulu, cast Thundara (or Thundaga if you know it). Auron and Kimahri can use their physicals. Their common Steal is 2 Fish Scales and their rare steal is 2 Dragon Scales, and this is your best chance to stock up on these if you need them. They drop water elemental weapons, armor that provides water resistance, and armor that increases HP by 5%.

The Bat Eye is another one of those floating eyeball enemies that can confuse you. But it doesn't have the usual stuff to Steal that the eyeballs have. Its common Steal is still a Hi-Potion, but its rare Steal is 2 Silence Grenades (which, to be fair, are still immensely useful items). Since it's flying and you don't have Wakka, you'll have to Summon, unless you think Kimahri and Auron can hit it (Kimahri might). Its armor drops still protect against Confuse.

The Swamp Mafdet seems out of place here, especially because we're not in a swamp! You'll have to Summon until you get Kimahri or Auron, who can pierce the damn thing's armor with their weapons (note that if you equipped Kimahri with the Knight's Lance, he won't have Piercing). It has the usual armadillo stuff: A common Hi-Potion and a rare Hypello Potion. The next enemy is the Aqua Flan. As you probably can tell, it has sky high defense. If you found Lulu, you should use Thundara or Thundaga (because that's what it's weak to, Captain Obvious). If you didn't, you'll have to Summon. It has the same stuff you can Steal and win as the Sahagins, but they don't drop HP increasing armor.

The last random encounter here is the Maze Larva, and it's the toughest. It sometimes casts Watera on itself to heal itself and increase its Magic Power. And, of course, it's weak to lightning, so you know how to kill it. It has the same stuff you can Steal as the Aqua Flans and the Sahagins, but its weapon drops occasionally cast Sleep and its armor drops provide Sleep resistance.

Speaking of all this summoning, since you now have access to Bahamut, you pretty much can deal as much damage as you want. Bahamut's Overdrive deals over 10,000 HP of damage! And you thought you couldn't get higher than 9,999, well, in this game you can get way more!

So, you start with Yuna alone. Basically your goal is to go through here, find your party members, and use the teleporters all around here to find items. Save your game make a right here. Follow the hallway until you come to a T. Make a left here and go into the big room. You'll find a Mega-Potion in a chest and Kimahri will join you. Now, you have two Thieves in your party so you can ransack the enemies. Follow the passage north and it'll eventually turn west. You'll reach another large room where the infinitely cooler Auron will rejoin you. There's also a save point here, so use it.

Keep going west here, and make a left at the fork to go south. Eventually you'll come to another big room. Turn east here and you'll find Lulu, who will rejoin you. Open the chest behind Lulu for a White Magic Sphere, and you should know what this does (hint: it does something similar to the Black Magic, Skill, and Special Spheres). Now, go all the way to the south to find a dead end with a chest with an Elixir. There's also a strange looking thing in this room that looks like a Destruction Sphere aura. Might as well check out what it does, because strange things are there for that sole reason.

What this did was open a door to the center of this area. Make a right at the fork to go back to the beginning of this place. Save your game and head north through the middle room. Make a right at the fork and get the chest here for a Black Magic Sphere. Step on the floor switch here and the teleporter tile in the middle will move to a corner of the hallway. Go to this corner (it's all the way in the northwest) and step on it when the arrow faces west and you'll go right through a wall into a secret area. There are two chests here. They have a Skill Sphere and a Lucid Ring for Yuna, which protects against Confuse, Silence, AND Poison (no immunity, though). There's also a chest behind the gate in the hallway that has 10,000 Gil.

Now, save your game, build up all your Aeons' Overdrives, and go all the way to the north. If you're a manly man, you'll walk. If you're a wuss, you'll use the teleporter. Let me preach the gospel to you that it's good for your health and the environment if you walk. God gave you the greatest invention in the world, and it's called feet.

But wait! It's Isaaru! He obviously is a selfish bastard who doesn't care that the Al Bhed saved him! Instead, he follows the orders of a corrupt high clergy and tells you he has to kill you! What a moron! Those Yevonists are all the same: the church comes before your friends and what's right. You now have to do the very thing I hate to do: a battle that's just like a battle in that lame series of games, Pokey Man with the Pokey and the Man and the thing with the guy that comes out of the thing, and he likes to bwa-hahahahahah! In other words, it's a battle of the Aeons, for the Aeons!

What do you want me to say? It's Ifrit.

Now, the lame as hell Isaaru named his lame Aeons. First up is Ifrit, which he calls Grothia. That's a very, very dumb name. Anyway, summon Shiva if you're bold, or else take the easy way out and go with Bahamut or Valefor. If Shiva's Overdrive is charged, have him use that. Try to save Bahamut though. You might have to follow up with Blizzara or physicals.

What else do you want me to say? It's Valefor for God's sake.

Valefor is up next. And Isaaru named her Pterya, which makes more sense, although it's not a fucking dinosaur. It's a damn bird and it looks like Palidor or Tritoch. Valefor is incredibly fast, so start out by summoning Bahamut and unleashing his Overdrive. Use physicals after that.

What are you looking at me for? I said it's fucking Bahamut!

Bahamut is next, and it's new name is Spathi. I would've named it "Mothafuckin' Beast," but Isaaru has bad taste. Anyway, Bahamut counts down before using an Overdrive. You can't use Bahamut, so you have to go with another Aeon (I recommend Ixion, and if you can't kill him after the Mega Flare Overdrive, switch to Ifrit. There's no reason why you can't kill him before one Mega Flare, let alone two.

REAL men don't need to overcompensate.

Afterwards, Isaaru will feel pissed, but will tell you how to get out. Auron stares him down and completely pwns him with his ultra coolness.

[edit] But what about the others?

Well, if you remember correctly, the others were thrown into a water torture chamber. Nobody here knows White Magic, so Rikku will have to heal you with those Al Bhed Potions again. The enemies here are pretty much all water based. You'll face more Sahagins here, but the difference is in that their rare Steal is only one Dragon Scale compared to the 2 from the Sahagins from the other part of the dungeon. They're also a lot weaker. They still drop the same stuff.

The next enemy here is an Octopus. It's a regular Octopus, rather than Octopus Royalty. It has other items to Steal (unfortunately here, Rikku is your only Thief). Its common Steal is 2 Dragon Scales and its rare Steal is 2 Water Gems. Take some time here to stock up on the Water Gems because you won't be able to get many more of these for awhile. They drop the same stuff as the Sahagins.

Next up are Remoras. Now why the hell didn't they have a Remora Aeon? I guess we'll never know. Now, all they have to Steal is Dragon Scales (1 for a common; 2 for a rare), but they drop armor that protects against Zombie! Kickass! Try to get some of these if you can.

The last enemy here is the Phlegyas, which has 2 common Dragon Scales and a rare Water Gem, so definitely try to Steal. Their armor drops include Auto Med, which lets you automatically cure status ailments! Definitely go for one of these if you want.

It's your standard undead Evrae Altana!

Since you're underwater, I hope you know how to swim. There's a save point and a chest here. The chest is actually a store where you can buy supplies, so stock up. Try to get some Water Gems here and use this opportunity. When you're ready to move on, follow the straight path. Eventually you'll be attacked by Evrae again! But this time it's his undead form: Evrae Altana!

It's nothing more than your standard undead enemy. Chuck some standard undead weaknesses, aka Phoenix Downs at it and you win. This is normally something I consider cheating, but you'll miss out on some cool stuff if you don't kill it this way. So kill it this way! Don't worry about Stealing from it. You can get the items at a later place at a later time. It drops some more Black Magic Spheres. Its weapon drop randomly inflicts Petrification, and its armor drop protects against it.

Now, swim down the path and look for the two chests you would've missed if you tried to kill Evrae Altana the honest way. They contain an Avenger Sword for Tidus, which allows Tidus to counter physicals with his own physical and a Rematch Blitzball for Wakka, which allows him to counterattack when he evades a physical. It has its uses. Try to avoid using these if you're hording items, but definitely use them if you're facing tough, physical enemies.

[edit] Reunion and the truth

Everyone's reunited now! Rikku treats Yuna like she's her babysitter and hugs her and calls her pet nicknames. But then Seymoron shows up. He finally reveals his evil plan. He killed Kinoc, and said he was craving power, so he "saved him from suffering" by killing him. He then says he want to do that to all of Spira. He reveals that he wanted to marry Yuna so he could become her Guardian and thus become the next Sin and become the most ruthless Sin to date. Seymour absorbs Kinoc's pyreflies, and transforms into a hideous monster!

Kimahri then attacks Seymour, and makes everyone else escape. Right before they leave Bevelle, Yuna realizes she doesn't want to leave Kimahri behind. So we have to go back and rescue him!

Your party now has everyone but Kimahri in it. There are two Save Points at each end of this area and O'aka XXIII to sell you more overpriced crap. The enemies here are the Warrior Monks with illegal guns and flamethrowers, YKT-63s, and YAT-99s. Take this opportunity to stock up on Purifying Salts if you can. It's your last opportunity for awhile. Equip armor that protects against petrification because you'll need it badly for the next fight. Finally, GET ALL YOUR AEON OVERDRIVES UP!!! This is VERY important to do. When you reach the end, you'll find Kimahri and Seymour. Kimahri rejoins your party here, and you now have to face one of the toughest bosses yet: Seymour Natus and Mortibody!

Just imagine if this thing becomes Sin.

Seymour attacks with his continuous attack of Level 2 spells and with Break, which, as you should know, Petrifies a character. Now, in this fight Petrification is VERY dangerous, which is why I made you equip Petrification resistant armor. Mortibody, the thing on Seymour's front, will follow up a Break spell from Seymour by using Shattering Claw, which removes a character from the battle. You can't replace this character with another, so that means you're stuck with two characters. If it happens again, you're stuck with one. If it happens AGAIN, it's a Game Over. This is why Petrification resistance and immunity is so important. Any character with a turn between Seymour's and Mortibody's should use a Soft on any petrified character. Mortibody also uses Desperado, which casts Dispel on the entire party.

Do NOT SUMMON until the very end of this fight, and only if you're confident if you can kill the boss in one hit. Once an Aeon attacks, Seymour will counter with Banish, which instantly kills the Aeon and you can't use it for the rest of the battle.

Start the fight by having Tidus and Auron Talk to Seymour to increase their stats, then have Tidus cast Haste (if he knows Hastega by now, then use that). Focus your initial attacks on Mortibody. When it dies, it'll use Mortibsorption to drain 4,000 HP from Seymour. Kill it again and it'll use it again. Keep doing it until it starts absorbing only 1,000 HP at a time, then focus your attacks on Seymour. You could consider casting Reflect to deal with the continuous attack, but remember this sacrifices your healing. Definitely try Stealing from Seymour. He has nice Tetra Elementals. These are new items, and 12 of them will add Curseproof to an armor. He has 2 for a common Steal and 3 for a Rare Steal, so you have a good shot at getting your collection started. You have three Thieves now (Yuna, Rikku, and Kimahri), so Stealing should be easy by now. Mortibody has nothing to Steal. If you can believe it, Seymour is also succeptible to Poison, so have Lulu cast Bio, which will buy you lots of time to Steal.

When Seymour gets low on HP, watch out. He'll start casting Flare, which deals massive damage and ignores Reflect, which is a reason why you shouldn't put it up. When Seymour gets under 10,000 HP, summon Bahamut and use his Overdrive for the Overkill. Seymour drops lots of Level 2 Key Spheres. His armor drops have SOS Shell, which casts Shell if characters are in Near Fatal.

[edit] Time for the worst part of the entire game!

Yes, that's right, this is the love scene. The part of the game where they play that PoS J-Pop ballad. And J-Pop sucks.

The scene starts at a campfire in Macalania, where everyone agrees that they have to avoid Bevelle. As Tidus, go find Yuna by a spring, with Kimahri watching. Tidus tells Yuna he knows she's gonna die, and apologizes to her for supporting her in her pilgrimage and cheering her on. Yuna says she wasn't upset by it. Tidus tries to convince her to quit, and Yuna starts considering it (if you still don't understand why I hate Yuna, it's mainly because of this scene and her voice). Tidus invites Yuna to his version of Zanarkand and lets her get box seats in the Zanarkand Dome. Tidus then promises to take Yuna out on a night on the town. Yuna starts to have doubts, and then Tidus kisses Yuna and the dumb song plays.

After this embarrassment to mankind, Yuna will decide to press on. Tidus says she has his support. They go back to the campsite and everyone goes to sleep.
