Okay, it's time to start the next part. But we're going to start by leveling up a bit to begin.

[edit] Time to Treasure Hunt in your enemy's pockets.

Time to ask for guidance from the almighty Locke.

We're going to stay at the Djose Highroad for a little while. By this point, Kimahri should know Steal if you listened to me and went southwest of the center sphere. This is important, because Stealing is important in this game. VERY IMPORTANT. There's some stuff you'll learn how to do later with the items you get stealing. If you don't know it, LEARN IT NOW. Take as much time as you need.

Work all the way back down to the bottom of Djose Highroad, where the save point is. Now, we're going to call on the Great Thieves of Final Fantasy for guidance: Locke, Zidane, Marcus, Blank, and Cinna. Let them give Kimahri some luck in Stealing, and let him not get any "Couldn't Steal!!" messages (the first time you pick an enemy's pocket, it will ALWAYS be successful. After that, it gets harder. Try to steal four times from each enemy. With only one Thief right now (Kimahri), you may only be able to do this three times, but try to up it to four once you get more Thieves.).

Now that the initial prayers are out of the way, IT'S TIME TO BEGIN THE PILLAGE! The reason I had you go all the way down to the Save Point at the very beginning of Djose Highroads is that there are Red Elements here. You can Steal a common Bomb Fragment and occasionally, you'll get two of them at once. The reason I'm having you do this is this is your ONLY CHANCE FOR A LONG TIME to get Bomb Fragments, and you need them. Try to get at least 50 of them if you have the patience, which I hope you do.

The Funguars can be hard to Steal from because of their Pollen counterattack. But try to steal from them. Their common Steal is a Silence Grenade and their rare Steal is a nice Ether. The Lamashtus have a common Potion and a rare Silver Hourglass. These Silver Hourglasses are VERY hard to come by; you can only get them as rare steals from this type of enemy, and there's so much you can do with them, so now's a good time as ever to start building your stash. The Raptors have a common Soft and a rare Petrify Grenade, so stock up on those, too. The Geesarewa (I hope you like my pet nickname) have a common Electro Marble, and their rare Steal is two of them.

Once you get lots of Bomb Fragments (and a healthy supply of the other items to boot), you can start working your way back up Djose Highroad. Now, it's time for the other enemies. The Bite Bugs have a common Antidote (good to stock up on these because you're gonna get poisoned a lot) and a rare Poison Fang. If you've been noticing, the only place you can get these awesome items is by Stealing. The Bunyips have a common Hi-Potion and a rare Hypello Potion? What the hell is a Hypello Potion? For that matter, why the hell can't you use it to recover your HP? I guess the world will never know...

The dreaded Basilisk is the next enemy I'm covering. It only has Petrify Grenades, and that's both its common and rare Steal. The elusive Simurgh is next, and it has a Smoke Bomb for its common Steal and two for its rare Steal. Sadly, you can't use it to run away from battle. It has other uses though, just like these other items we found. Try to get a bunch of these as well, but it's okay if you wait on this one. There's an area coming up (albeit much later) which is like a Smoke Bomb gold mine. The Garm is next. This dog has a common Hi-Potion and a rare Sleeping Powder. Last, but certainly not least, is the Snow Flan, which has Antactic Winds to steal. Usually, you can get two at a time.

So, that's all the enemies you can Steal from in Djose. Try to spend awhile here Stealing, if only because it's tons of fun!

[edit] Ronsos and Princess Leia look alikes and finally we get to learn what those things are!

And you thought Kimahri was immense...

Okay, now make a left at the fork. This is a long path. There's one new enemy here, and it's a doozy. It's the Ochu. Not only can it Poison you with its physical, but when it gets low on HP it uses an attack called Ochu Dance, which hits ALL party members and randomly inflicts Blind, Silence, Slow, and Confusion. You do NOT want this to happen. Worse yet, it often comes flanked by Bite Bugs. Fortunately, Kimahri can Steal Remedies from them. If you're lucky, you'll get two at once! If you have to, try Summoning; it is, after all, the best way for an Overkill. Also, it's weak to Fire, so have Lulu cast Fira. Its weapon drops can randomly inflict Poison on an enemy, or they can increase Strength or Magic Power by 5%. Their armor drops protect you from a random status ailment.

Other enemies here include Bite Bugs, Geesarewa, Funguars, Garms, Snow Flans, and Bunyips.

The first thing you'll run into on this path is that fundamentalist bitch Shelinda, who will start preaching Yevonist propaganda to you. There's a chest behind her with 3 more Level 1 Key Spheres. The next thing you'll find is Biran and Yenke, Kimahri's rivals, who will tell you again about the Summoner kidnappings. They'll make fun of him for being a week Guardian and will tell him he'll easily lose Yuna. I love these guys, especially Yenke. He reminds me of the Warcraft III Orcs. Unfortunately, there's a very racist rule in Spira that says other races have to stay out of each other's problems. There's a chest under the tree up ahead with an X-Potion. Move forward and you'll eventually come to a path to the right that leads to a chest with 3 more Level 1 Key Spheres.

The next thing you'll see on the path is probably the most important thing: Belgemine. Yes, that Princess Leia look alike from before. You'll have to use Valefor and Ifrit to fight her Ixion. Watch out! This version of Ixion knows Haste, which your Ixion doesn't! You'll then learn how you can teach your Aeons new abilities using items outside of battle. Have Ifrit cast Fire on himself to heal himself and get ready to use Hellfire when it charges up. You should down Ixion soon enough. If you win, you'll get 2 Dragon Scales. If you loose, you'll get 6 Smoke Bombs. You'll also get the Summoner's Soul, which lets you teach abilities to your Aeons outside of battle.

This is the purpose of Stealing! So you can get items to teach stuff to your Aeons! Here are the abilities you can teach your Aeons with the items you have now:

"Skills" include:

"Specials" include:

Black Magic includes:

White Magic includes:

This is the Moonflow, a boring old Midwestern looking river.

And that's it for now. Keep moving forward and look to your left when you see woods on your left for a path to a nice Magic Defense Sphere, which adds another Magic Defense node to the Sphere Grid. Like all Spheres like this, save it for later.

Eventually, you'll reach the banks of a river that looks as muddy as the Mighty Mississip'. Of course, that river isn't "mighty" at all. It's a friggin' mud pile. Just like this place. It's called the Moonflow. Here, Yuna will tell you all about Pyreflies, which I'm guessing is just a poor attempt to rewrite "Fireflies," but I guess this does give us a chance to wonder where all those green Spheres from the previous games which had Summoning in them came from.

[edit] I'll take "The Rapists" for 5,000 Gil!

Ridess ze Shoopuf?

But right away, you'll go to the next area, where you'll see a giant elephant looking thing storm right next to you. This is a Shoopuf and it's your ticket across the Moonflow. And I think I've seen 'bout everything, when I've seen an elephant with a rollable trunk! Hell, it even looks like Dumbo. Or one of those Indian elephants. Anyway, there are two Phoenix Downs in a chest in the next area, and O'aka XXIII is here to sell you more overpriced bullshit. Yuna, Auron, and Kimahri are here, too. Go to the next area. You'll find a ton of shops which try to peddle you overpriced weapons and armor. Don't buy any of it. Save your Gil for when you really need it: the end of the game.

Auron will tell you an interesting story about Jecht and how he was so drunk he attacked a Shoopuf. They banned Braska and his Guardians forever. This makes Jecht sound even cooler. I love that man!

Punchss the keysh for god'sh shakess! Yesh, yesh! You're the man now dog!

If you go south, you'll see the Chocobo Knights, who finally found a Chocobo, but they can't put it on the Shoopuf. Now is a good time to introduce the Shoopuf drivers, the Hypello. If there was good voice acting in this game, it's the Hypelloes. They sound like Sean Connery, one of the greatesht actorsh of all time. They'll tellss the Chocobo Knightsh they can't put it on the Shoopuf, like good little Hypelloes. Now go do some more James Bond acting!

Save your game here and open the chest for an extra 5,000 Gil. When you're ready equip lightning elemental weapons on Tidus and Wakka, talkss to they Hypello who drivesh the Shoopuf. All aboards!?

As you cross the Moonflow, Wakka will point out more ruined cities under the water. He'll tell you that whoever built it was a poor civil engineer and made everything collapse and sink. Wakka uses it as a lesson not to defy the laws of nature and keep worshiping Yevon. Tidus then brings up what looks like a hypocrisy in Yevon's teachings when they say they allow machina for stuff like Blitzball, but Lulu says that some machina is allowed and some isn't. Basically, military machina is forbidden and all others are legal. I actually find that a good rule to live by. Leaders of the world, if you are reading this, disarm all your nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons NOW! All I'm saying is Give Peace a Chance!

Yuna will then explain why this is all banned, and for obvious reasons: people used machina in a war long ago to kill each other, and they kept making more and more powerful weapons. This is why Sin came, apparently. Wakka then mentions the Al Bhed, the people who love to use machina...and what good timing!

It's the Al Bhed again! And they're here to perform more evil deeds. It looks like they were behind this all along. An Al Bhedian hitman jumps up and kidnaps Yuna (and probably puts Chloroform on her, ala Tintin villains). It's time to save her! Tidus and Wakka jump in the water. Fight time!

Looks like another Final Fantasy VI holdover

This is the Extractor and it's tough, especially because you're stuck with just Tidus and Wakka, which means you'll have to use items to heal. Hopefully you won't have to as much this time. It's easier than the Sinspawn, but it's still hard. It uses Aqua Shooter a lot, which deals about 200 HP damage each time, which isn't much. However, every three turns it'll rise up and say "Readying Depth Charges!" On the next turn it'll lower itself and use Depth Charges, which deals a lot of damage to a character and puts Blind on him. You can prevent Depth Charges by dealing 500+ HP damage to it while it's raised. If you have an Overdrive (especially if it's Wakka) ready, save it for when the Extractor rises. Beyond that it's not a problem at all. You'll win some Mega-Phoenixes from this thing, so try to Overkill it and get lots of them.
