Welcome back! We're on the final part of the Monster Arena guide -- after this, the sidequest is officially over. These last two creations are (apart from Th'uban) the toughest fiends that the Monster Arena has to offer. Here we go...

Original Creations Part 3[]

Shinryu[]

Shinryu
Shinryu-ffx-enemy

HP: 2,000,000 (99,999)
AP: 50,000 (50,000)
Gil: 0
Vulnerabilities:

  • None

Difficulty: Hard

Only 2 million HP? Subpar stats? Pfft.

Wait, you have to fight it underwater? Tits. If you haven't been levelling Wakka and/or Rikku (and why not?), you're in trouble.

It counters attacks with a physical attack. (Not Ultima...this guy is Original, hah) Its other attack is Eraser, which petrifies one character. But since you're underwater, you sink and shatter. And it can't be blocked by anything. Chet!
Its other attack is Shining, which delivers 8 random hits across your party. You need to have 255 across your main stats and 9,999 HP to deal with this. His low Strength and Magic scores mean that you can throw out Hyper Mighty G to whichever characters aren't shattered (assuming it wasn't Rikku anyway) and wall whatever attacks he throws at you. He won't use Eraser against your last remaining party member, which is charitable.
Use Overdrives, Quick Hit and whatever high-damage moves you've got to hand to defeat him quickly. If you've got Tidus or Wakka alone against him, assuming your defences are solid you can take him apart one-on-one without much hassle.

Nemesis[]

AP: 55,000 (55,000)
Gil: 0
Vulnerabilities:

Difficulty: Insane

Oh boy. This thing. Golden Omega, Il Supremo, Deus, Être Suprême, すべてを超えし者, whatever you call him; this is the Monster Arena guy's ultimate fiend, and y'know, why hasn't he decided to, like, take over the world or something with this thing?

I'm going to assume you have Ribbon on all three of your characters now -- it might be a bit of an ask, but you're probably doing this after having defeated most of the Dark Aeons, which I'll be covering next. It's my walkthrough and I'll travel through time if I want to.

Anyway, its attacks. Its physical, taken with Protect and maximum Defence, can be reduced to around 7,000 damage. However, I'm going to recommend an unorthodox strategy here -- stack Cheer and Focus. It'll reduce his physical to around 5,000 damage, and makes Ethereal Cannon survivable, if you also have Shell up. Oh, also, it counters Overdrives with Ultima, which hits like a truck at 255 Magic Defense, and a OHKO if lower than 230!

What you have to watch out for however is Ultra Spark, which is technically survivable with absolutely maximum Magic Defence, 5 Focuses, Shell and Break HP Limit, but will still deal 25,000 or so damage and inflicts both Curse and Power Break. (It also inflicts Slow and Poison, but Auto-Haste and Ribbon block those.)
Your strategy is thus: spam Quick Hit, then, on her last turn before Nemesis', have Yuna summon any Aeon. Attack Nemesis and suck up whatever attack it uses. When the Aeon dies (it won't be very long), switch back to spamming Quick Hit, again bringing out another Aeon to chump-block. Keep up this process and with maximum stats you'll see that satisfying "Overkill" before you run out of Aeons to sacrifice.

Note that this strategy works only if Yuna has maximum Strength and Agility, otherwise her Aeon-summoning turn won't come quickly enough and your damage output will be too low to take out Nemesis before you run out of Aeons meat shields.

Conditions for Unlocking:
Capture 10 of every fiend in Spira and defeat all other Area/Species/Original creations.
Equipment
Prize for Unlocking: Master Sphere x10
Slots 3-4 Steal: Lv. 4 Key Sphere x1, Warp Sphere x1
Empty Slots 2-3 Drops: Warp Sphere x1, Dark Matter x1
Weapons
Abilities Break Damage Limit
Armour
Abilities Break HP Limit

That it for the Monster Arena. We've completed the US version's ultimate challenge. I guess American players can give up now ;)

That said, I imagine most of them got the International Version anyway.

Next time we're looking at the final challenges the game has to offer: The Dark Aeons.
