Welcome back to Apoqliphoth's guide to the Monster Arena! More Species Conquest fiends this time -- you'll likely unlock these fiends "by accident" as you clear Area Conquest.

The background to my writing of this is Miranda Hart's Joke Shop, the radio precursor to the wonderful Miranda TV series. Nothing like the awkward ramblings of a 6'1" woman mucking about to brighten one's evening.

Also I have rhubarb mousse for pudding after I finish this section. Rhubarb mousse.

Species Conquest Part 2[]

Hornet[]

Hornet
Wasp (FFX)

HP: 620,000 (50,000)
AP: 10,000 (10,000)
Gil: 0
Vulnerabilities:

  • All "Breaks" (5%)

Difficulty: Medium

Another flying fiend with high Evasion. Its regular attack causes Silence, Sleep, Darkness and possibly Death, so that's fun.

Its other attacks can cause Confuse and Poison, as well as casting Curaga on itself, which is odd. Use Attack Reels to shoot it down quickly, as well as other Overdrives. Because its instant death sting doesn't bypass death protection, you can Anima tank it.

Conditions for Unlocking:
Capture at least three of every Wasp fiend.
Killer Bee Wasp Bite Bug Nebiros

Prize for Unlocking: Mana Tonic x60
Slots 2-4 Steal: Poison Fang x4, Purifying Salt x2
Empty Slots 1-3 Drops: Accuracy Sphere x1, Dark Matter x1

Vidatu[]

Vidatu

HP: 95,000 (10,000)
AP: 10,000 (10,000)
Gil: 0
Vulnerabilities:

  • Magic Break (20%)
  • Mental Break (20%)
  • Armour Break (1%)

Difficulty: Simple

If you can survive Ultima, you can batter him. Break him and go ham. Otherwise, summon Anima and tank him. All he does is use Ultima and Osmose, which lets him use more Ultima. I mean, why? Anima with Haste, Shell and Regen will wall him while you Pain him to death -- which may even be one-shot, considering his record-breaking low HP.

Conditions for Unlocking:
Capture at least four of every Imp fiend.
Gandarewa Aerouge Imp

One-Eye[]

One-Eye
BatEye-ffx

HP: 150,000 (15,000)
AP: 10,000 (10,000)
Gil: 0
Vulnerabilities:

  • Power Break (100%)
  • Armour Break (100%)

Difficulty: Easy

They do like that Auto-Regen, don't they? If it gets the jump on you, it'll use Shockwave which hits the party with magical damage and inflicts Confuse, Slow, Sleep, Darkness and Silence. Auto-Haste and Confuseproof will block Slow and Confuse; the rest you'll have to suck up. Hopefully you'll not get jumped.

Anima tanking works perfectly, Curse from Black Stare will stick but you can just kill it with two Pains.

One-Eye is an excellent enemy to farm -- it drops weapons with the ludicrously useful Triple AP, which are great equipment and can be sold for megabucks. You'll also end up with a truckload of Magic Def Spheres and a few Dark Matters, so farm away -- its HP is so low that it won't take long.

Conditions for Unlocking:
Capture at least four of every Eyeball fiend.
Floating Eye Buer Evil Eye Ahriman
