Welcome back! We're into the final act of the game -- I must say I've enjoyed writing this and inserting my random observations everywhere. Of course there's still the sidequests...

Also, Eddie Izzard is my god. I'm watching his show Glorious as I'm writing this. It was the first stand-up comedy I ever heard, when I was about six years old. Even though there's a lot of swearing.

I'm so well-adjusted.

The Fahrenheit[]

Sin

Talk to Cid and select 'Sin'. It's time to take the cantankerous Kaiju head-on. Well, arms-on.

Watch the scene. Sin dead ahead! We're gonna tear it a new blowhole, courtesy of the Al Bhed machina. Brother tells us to guard Rikku, his first sentence in English Spiran! I'm glad he's learning; it makes the sequel so much fun.

Head up to the deck, buying whatever supplies you need from Rin on the way.

The world sings, and Tidus reveals that he nicked Yuna's movie sphere/will. I love how Yuna frisks herself.

Unfortunately, Sin goes out of control and unleashes hell. Giga Graviton rips a hole in the ocean, which causes a physics student's nightmare and the resulting torrent of water crashing into land almost blows the Fahrenheit off-course.

Sin's pulling us towards him. Let's take him down.

Boss Battle: Sin's Left Fin
Sin's Left Fin

HP: 65,000 (10,000)
AP: 16,000 (24,000)
Gil: 10,000
Difficulty: Simple

If you stay at a distance, it doesn't attack except for a counterattack that only triggers after a certain number of attacks against it, which does 1500-ish damage to the party. Which makes this battle very simple. Start with Hastega and it'll hardly see any turns. Use Yuna and Lulu to attack from a distance with Holy and -aga Black Magic respective. You can even summon Aeons from a distance to pelt it with magic and soak up attacks. So much for what Seymour said about us not being able to hurt it.

Boss Battle: Sin's Right Fin
Sin's Right Fin

HP: 65,000 (10,000)
AP: 17,000 (25,500)
Gil: 10,000
Difficulty: Easy

This is practically identical to the first fight, except that it counters less often. From a distance, this battle is a joke. Same strategy applies -- long-range Magic and Aeons will finish this battle without much trouble at all.

You'd think the embodiment of evil and destruction would have more powerful arms, but hey ha.

Author's Note #25: Are there any other pictures of Sin seen from the right?

Tidus decides to dive onto Sin's back. Yuna goes first.

"Hey, Yuna, I was kinda joking? Yuna?"

The rest of the party follows, and immediately gets a massive dose of toxin and dies. End of the walkthrough!

...just kidding. I guess we've had so much of Sin's toxin that we're immune now. At least that's a thing.

Boss Battle: Sinspawn Genais
Sinspawn Genais

HP: 20,000 (2,000)
AP: 1,800 (2,700)
Gil: 10,000
Difficulty: Simple

Venom deals about 600 damage and Poison to one character. It counters Magic with Waterga and when its HP is below 50%, it retreats into its shell and starts casting Cura on itself. At this time, the Core behind it charges up Gravija which deals 75% of your party's HP.

Boss Battle: Sin (Core)
Sin Core-enemy-ffx

HP: 36,000 (3,000)
AP: 18,000 (27,000)
Gil: 10,000
Difficulty: Simple

Once it's on its own, all it does is charge and use Gravija, which is percentage damage based on your current HP, so it can't kill you. What can kill you, however, is its counter attack, which is a party-wide low-level magic attack. Keep your HP about 600 at all times and you'll be solid.

FFX Gravija

Gravija sucks.

After the battle, Sin crashes into Bevelle. Hah! That'll learn them.

Cid goes off to fix the main gun, and we're left to our own devices. Head to the deck of the ship to find Yuna. She's onto Tidus; she knows that by defeating Yu Yevon the dream of the fayth will end, as will anyone and anything summoned by it -- which means that both Tidus and Sin are bound to the world by the fayth.

Sin

Choices, choices, Yuna.

Sin does something very strange. Desipte its lack of arms, it grows wings from its wings and nests itself on top of the Palace of St. Bevelle. Get married under that, Seymour.

Back on the bridge, it seems that the main gun's busted. No problemo says Tidus; he'll just keep whacking it until something good happens. Cid, understandably, approves of this plan. Head out to the deck, using the Save Sphere along the way. The next battle can be pretty tough if you're not a little overlevelled.

Boss Battle: Sin
BOSS-SIN

HP: 140,000 (16,000)
AP: 20,000 (30,000)
Gil: 12,000
Difficulty: Hard

Oh boy. Sin draws you in gradually, and after three rounds you're right up close, face-to-spidery face. You have absolutely no time to waste; start with Hastega and spam it with your strongest Magic.

His only attack is a party-wide Gaze that deals around 700 damage to everyone and causes either Confuse, Zombie or Petrify. Clean these up immediately, or better yet summon an Aeon to soak it up and retaliate with an Overdrive (if you're within range).

Once you're right next him, he starts to open his mouth. If it gets all the way open (i.e. fills the Overdrive Gauge), he uses Giga-Graviton and that's it -- Game Over. You can't block it with Aeons or survive it in any way, you just get a Game Over screen.

Sin doesn't attack very often, so focus all your efforts on dealing as much damage as possible. Don't bother stacking Cheer or Focus, then just go hell for leather. As soon as you can attack him physically, use Armour Break to make the last bits of his high HP easier to remove.

Party Inside Sin

I love how the URL is "Party Inside Sin".

Sin opens his enormous mouth, and in we go!

You probably already guessed, but this is the final dungeon of the game. There is a point of no return, but I will warn you in advance. There's some final treasures to be gained here, as well as a set of fiends for the Monster Arena if you're doing that particular sidequest.

It's a pretty confusing place, so I'll cover it in the next part of the walkthrough. See you there, compadres.
