Walkthrough:Final Fantasy X-2/Walkthrough/TSD/Part 3

From Final Fantasy Wiki

It's only the third page and I'm already out of ideas for my intros. Oh well, I'm TSD(who doesn't know that), and here's my intro:

Welcome to TSD productions! We specialise in yifvfjtysliyrl! Or do we?

[edit] Stupidity still prevails! We must fight!

So after the mission, you're back on the ship. Turns out Brother apparently jumped ship after hearing that Yuna was in danger. (At this point in time, it is best to read the title) What for? She had me and a thousand other people guiding her through the traps, what makes you think that we needed your help?

Scene over, the NGP players should run down to the cabin and sell your useless accessories. Then just run down and talk to Brother. Pick 'Comfort him' (.....) and watch the cutscene. If you want to know what the cutscene is about, contact me or someone else who's played the game. I'll tell you, but I'm not going to tell every single person who reads this. Also, I enjoy running Yuna back and forth over him. The results are quite entertaining.

Thank god that scene's over quickly. I particularly like the end. Now go talk to Shinra to watch the sphere you found. Not very interesting, and Paine simply says "Junk" and walks away. I agree, but at least it's the Black Mage DS!

Trivia: The guy talking in the video is Maechen. You'll find him again later on. It's always later on, isn't it?

Dressphere: Black Mage

Yep, the Black Mage DS. Sadly, it's a lot less useful in this game. A Black Mage, as usual, has high Magic and Magic Defense, but low Strength and Defense. This DS can't attack. No "Attack" command, so you're stuck with casting spells. And no status effect spells either, those go to the Dark Knight DS. All a Black Mage is good for would be draining MP and spamming elemental weaknesses. Her main abilities are the "Black Magic wait down", which lowers the amount of time needed to cast Black Magic spells, "MP Drain", which steals MP from enemies and gives it to you, "Focus" which raises your Magic stat, and her spells, which are Fire, Ice, Thunder and Water elemental spells. Once you have all the spells learned, you should notice two empty slots in the Black Magic menu in battle. They are for the spells "Flare" and "Ultima", two of the strongest spells in all of Final Fantasy, but as you might guess, use up a SHITLOAD of MP, 54 and 90 respectively. BM, ready for some spell spamming?

The moment your Warrior has mastered her DS, get her in this one, STAT. She starts out with the spells 'Fire', 'Blizzard', 'Thunder' and 'Water'. Start her out by learning 'Focus' and 'MP Absorb' so she doesn't always have to use Ethers to restore her MP. After that, I suggest you get the four spells available for learning. They will then lead to the final four(HAHAHA) spells. Before you learn the final four spells, you should learn the 'Black Magic wait down' abilities. Then you're free to get the last four abilities.

Anyway, now Buddy's got some treasure sphere data for you now. There're two of them, one on Besaid, and one in the Zanarkand Ruins. So, where to? Well, these locations are now highlighted as Hotspots. As the title of this page suggests, we're checking out Besaid first, but before we move on to the Zanarkand Ruins, we're taking a world trip first. Yep, you read me right, we're going to journey all the way from Luca right through to the Ruins. And we're going to have to do this a total of five times throughout the entire game. I said it was going to be a long ride. So, anyway, we're off to Besaid!

[edit] Sand as white as snow, seas as blue as sapphires

Well, now we're all back in Besaid, yay. I always loved the beach there, the sand is so white. It's a picture to look at.

And it turns out that Yuna ran away from here?! Run away? From here? well, whatever you say, Yunie, whatever you say.

So save at the SS where Buddy and Brother drops you off and run towards the village for a cutscene(this word will be used many, many many times in this walkthrough, trust me). Wakka greets you guys girls and talks about life ever since Yuna left so suddenly. Turns out Lulu's gonna have a baby soon(did anyone notice Rikku running around the place?), and it's Wakka's. Well, anyway, after the ***scene, run back to the SS and save.

Since Wakka asked you to go see Lulu, we might as well go, but before you do, I suggest we do a bit of exploring around Besaid. There are five huts in the village you can enter. Two are NPCs' houses which are just there for the sake of it. Another hut, also a house, belongs to Lulu and Wakka. All the three home huts are on the right side of the village.

On the left, there's the inn(which is useless thanks to the new healing properties of the SS in this game) and the island shop. Now, if you talk to the clerk at the shop, there will be a third option, which is the middle one, "Any rare finds?". If you don't have at least 900 000 gil in your pockets, DO NOT PICK THIS OPTION. The rare find is the "Besaid Key", which allows you to access a locked chest in the temple which contains a Search Sphere. This Search Sphere helps you to find four numbers scattered around the island which make a four-digit code that enables you to open a door that blocks entry into a tunnel containing a chest that holds Ethers and that leades to the cliff above the waterfalls. On the cliff, there will be a chest that holds the "Raging Giant" GG. This chest isn't refilled as you play through the chapters, but the one in the tunnel, holding the Ethers, is and the number of Ethers in the chest depend on which chapter you're currently playing. So, if you're playing chapter 2 when you get this chest, you'll get 2 Ethers out of it, and if you come back during Chapter 3, you'll get 3 Ethers and so on. All this starts with getting the key, and no, I didn't add in a couple of extra zeros, that is a nine hundred THOUSAND gil price standing between you and the key.

Why not talk to the clerk about the key? Simple. Every time you return to ask about the key, there's a 25% she will have sold it to a traveller. In that case, you'll get the key if you get another mission in Chapter 3 right. The chance increases by 50% if you talk to the priest sitting cross-legged in Besaid's temple. So, if you're not on a NGP playthrough with 900 000 gil, you're just going to have to wait until Chapter 3. I'll leave the explanation of how to use the Search Sphere for when you'll get the key in Chapter 3.

Item Cost
Potion50 gil
Phoenix Down100 gil
Antidote50 gil
Eye Drops50 gil
Echo Screen50 gil
Soft50 gil
Holy Water300 gil
Watery Gleam3000 gil
Blue Ring3000 gil

Once you're done with the shop(items and prices on the right, courtesy of Nelo), go to Lulu and Wakka's hut. It's the second one in the row of home huts.

Lulu greets us, same as always. And as Rikku says, she doesn't look pregnant one single bit. The designers got really lazy about this. I bet some idiot at Square just wanted to keep Lulu in that dress, so he persuaded the designers not to create a pregnant Lulu. Too bad though, seems like the baby won't be born that soon. But at least it's coming. So then we go up the hill for a walk.

When interrogated asked why she ran away from Besaid, Yuna shows Lulu the movie sphere we watched back on Page 1. Turns out it was found on Mt. Gagazet by the new elder of the Ronso tribe. We all know who he is.

So then Lulu tells Yuna not to let herself be used anymore. Yuna says she won't. Don't you worry, Lu, we'll make sure Yuna isn't used by anyone.

Except us.

Anyway, the baby kicks. We all need exercise. When you get back to the village, accept Lulu's invitation to stay for the night. I'm not sure if it heals you, though it probably does, since the "Rest" option in the Cabin of our airship does. I've done it.

The next morning, go out the hut and talk to Lulu. Seems like Wakka's gone missing, and Lu wants us to go look for him. Accepting the mission, go and save.

Okay, now that you've taken the mission, by talking to the villagers you'll get a hint about a cave on Besaid, and some bullcrap about where to find the four numbers which make up the code needed to enter the cave.

Go up the hill past the SS outside the village to the old shrine. On your mini-map, you should see a purple square where the shrine is. The shrine itself should be sparkling. Examine the shrine, and a number will appear. It's the first number in the code, but you don't need to make a note of it, since the code is automatically presented to you when you enter the cave. Assuming, of course, that you saw all four numbers.

Now go down the hill in the other direction. When you enter the screen, on your right there should be a brown slanted column stuck in the ground. Another purple square on your map and another sparkle on the column should be enough to tell you that a second number's hidden on top of that thing. Climb up the column and press "X". This time, it's the last number of the code.

Jump off and continue down the road. Aww, your heart's aching, Brother? Go see a doctor. I don't care. You now go into an area with some pretty waterfalls. When you reach the bridge, you should now be looking at Yuna from the side if she's going back or forth over the bridge. Stop just before the bridge and move towards the waterfalls. Then push your left analog stick right to make Yuna jump down some cliffs just in front of the first waterfall. A hidden chest here contains 2 Chocobo Wings, which cast "Haste" on the entire party in battle. Climb up the cliffs again and cross the bridges. Run forth into the next screen, which leads to the beach and a grassy cliff with a lovely view of a lake/river. The entrance to the cave is located here. You should see some steps and a door, which is partially hidden. Examine the door if you want, but you need the other two numbers first.

When you exit by the entrance at the bottom of the screen, this brings you to the beach. On your left, you should see some little brats. Run back a bit towards the left to reveal a cliff onto which one of the brats have climbed. Follow the kid up there. On the machina ruins, there should be yet another sparkle. Have a look at it for the third number.

Stay on the cliff, but run to the trees on the right and jump down among them to get into a hidden cove which, in FF X, you were supposed to get into by swimming in the sea. Here, there used to be only one chest, but now there're two, containing a Hi-Potion and 1000 gil respectively. Climb up the cloth covered goods leaning against the cliff to get back to the beach, then run across the beach. The mini-map claims that you can go into the sea, but don't believe it-Yuna can't swim. The programmers just reused the mini-maps from FF X. Lazy idiots.

Once you've reached the end of the beach, you should see an overgrown ledge with a fourth sparkle on it. Climb onto the ledge and press "X" for the second number of the code.

Having gotten all four numbers, we now move on to the cave. Go back to the door and examine it again. All four numbers appear in the correct order at the top of the screen. Enter the code into the box, and go into the cave.

Wakka's inside, and it seems like he thinks there's a sphere in this cave. And he seems to be in a dilemma whether or not to go look for it, because he doesn't know if it really exists. But we know there's a sphere here. And since the Gullwings are probably looking for the same sphere, let's just go look for it and save Wakka the trouble. The game forces you to, anyway.

Moving past Wakka further into the cave, you reach a choice of directions. The right path is short, and the dead end is the door where you'll have to enter the code found with the Search Sphere. So obviously our sphere is down the other way, the only way left. Which is left.

Note: Beware of the Coeurls. They have the attack "Death Blast" or whatever it's called. It brings you down to 1 HP, so you'll want someone on standby at all times when you're fighting a group of enemies containing one. Eliminating the Coeurls first should be your utmost priority.

When you reach another fork in the road, you run straight into a cutscene where Brother calls the Gullwings for no apparant reason for a third time. Hey, it's illegal to make prank calls, okay! But as Rikku says, just ignore him.

So now take the left fork to a chest holding two Potions, then go down the right fork. This leads to some stone pillars. Jump and climb over them, then save at the SS. Then just run around the corner and take a look at that lovely blue pedestal holding that orange sphere that's just waiting for you to come claim it.

"Find the sphere and the fiends appear." Indeed.

Boss Battle: Flame Dragon

HP: 960
MP: 64
Gil Stolen/Dropped: 800/300
Items Stolen/Dropped: Hi-Potion(N), Hi-Potion x2(R)/Red Ring(N & R)
EXP: 60
AP: 1
Difficulty: (N)Medium/(NGP)Easy

Normal: Flame Dragon may be the most difficult boss you've encountered so far, but he still shouldn't be too much of a problem if you're quick on the mark when healing. Flame Dragon's attacks are to simply swipe your girls with his claws, and he also shoots fire out his mouth, hitting your entire team. This attack is a particularly bad one, causing over 100 dmg., but be quick to heal and you should be okay. Naturally, FD is weak against Ice, so "Ice Brand" and "Blizzard" his ass to win. Start out with a team of Songstress, Thief and Warrior, have your Thief steal the Hi-Potion(s) and gil, and then change her into a Black Mage. Your Warrior should be spamming "Ice Brand", and your Songstress should just heal with Potions, since the claw attack doesn't do THAT much dmg. But if your girls are fine for the time being, then you can have her dance.

NGP: You know what, don't even waste your bombs. Just rob this guy and kick his lily ass to the moon.

So then YRP claims the sphere and gets the WHITE MAGE DS! OH YEAH!!!

I still don't know if the sphere's the DS, or if WM's a reward for completing the mission though...

Dressphere: White Mage

And here comes the White Mage DS.

Seriously though, I never found any particular use for this DS the moment I got the Alchemist DS. But anyway, you should still have at least one girl learn it. That should be your Songstress.

Now, as you can tell by the name "White Mage", obviously this DS is made to heal. They can't attack, so all they can do is heal and cast defensive magic. You start out with the already-learned ability "Pray", which heals the entire party for very little, and it doesn't use any MP, so you can select this ability until your brain turns to mush. At most, "Pray" will only heal for 100-150 HP. The ability you should start learning first should be "Vigor", which heals the user for more HP, and at no MP cost. The downside of "Vigor" is that it can only be cast on the user. After "Vigor", you should get "Cure"(which, by the way, should already have been learned and usable-damn those idiots at Square), then the "White Magic wait down" abilities. "Life", "Esuna", and "Cura" should follow in that order, then "Shell", "Protect" and "Reflect". Then "Curaga", "Regen", "Dispel", "Full-Cure" and finally "Full-Life".

So as I said, your Songstress, once she has mastered her DS, should start on White Mage.

Anyway, when you get back to Wakka, they watch the sphere. Damn all it shows are some random locations around Besaid. So it isn't what Wakka's looking for. And you get the key item "Besaid Sphere".

As they're walking back to the village, Wakka says that what he was looking for was a sphere of his parents. Apparantly when he and his brother Chappu(who died fighting Sin) were kids, they got into an argument one day and Chappu said that he'd found a sphere showing their parents, and he never told Wakka where it was. Wakka never asked, because he wasn't about to let his little brother win. There's probably no such sphere anyway. Besaid doesn't have that many cameras, and I'd bet the locals don't know how to use one.

So, remember how Wakka was all worried about being a dad? He's got over that now. You know what, Wakka? I'd bet that almost every single parent who found out that they were going to have a baby were just as worried as you about what to do. And they did perfectly fine.

You're back on the Celsius, and I'm starting a new page.
