< Walkthrough:Final Fantasy VIII

Yes, I got the computer while my parents clean the house. Let's do this thang.

Ultima timeEdit

So, you got 15 GFs in the GF menu? Well done, because that's how many we've covered in this walkthrough. If you are missing Tonberry, don't worry, I hate that piece of shit too. But there is one space left in the menu. No, Odin doesn't go there. That space is for the final junctionable GF, Eden.

Eden is at the Deep Sea Deposit, under the research area. You will need some heavy preparation if you want this GF. It needs to be Drawn from a superboss: Ultima Weapon. Oh, boy. A superboss. So get your hands on heaps of Curaga and Life/Full-life spells and junction the best magic available to all stats. Next, get Doomtrain, if you haven't already. Also, get every character's best weapon from the Magazines. This is a good idea, because this option isn't always going to be available. Then, you'll need a decently levelled Zell, because it is really hard to get to the bottom of the area without him. I fucking hate the preparations but who said life was easy? If you meet all the stat requirements, you also need Move-Find junctioned. The menu? Squall and Quistis with Magic, Draw and GF and Zell with Item, Draw and GF. Squall should also have Mug junctioned. Now go.

After you are ready, re-enter the Research Facility. Save your game then climb down the clump of cables. Check the computer to begin the side quest. It hands over 20 steam units. You need to use them to access each level. There's a catch, though: if you want to fight Ultima Weapon (which you do) you need 10 steam units at the final level. Zell's knowledge of machines will help with that. Now you can do the actual descent. You may wish to junction Enc-None to whoever has Diablos. On the current level you unavoidably must use 4 steam units. On the following level use 2. Now Zell comes in handy. His help is instrumental. He allows you to use 2 steam units on the third floor, then you can use 1 steam unit for the fourth level. To get to the fifth level, you now only need to use one stream unit to access it.

You are now five levels down. Free up space by removing Enc-None, as even with it you enter battle. There are Iron Giants, Imps, Ruby Dragons and Toramas down here. There are others too, but seeing as you can just run, I won't bother mentioning them. Junction Move-Find if you haven't already and walk along the path until you reach a Save Point. Save, Tent, make adjustments, Save. Now prepare yourself for a final stretch, then Ultima Weapon.

With Move-Find, you can see another Save Point when you continue. Save here and quickly fiddle with your junctions. After a systems check, head over to the computer and pull the big guy himself up for the hardest battle yet. If you have Initiative or Auto-Haste, they are helpful

BOSS:ULTIMA WEAPONEdit

FF8 Ultima Weapon

This boss is very, VERY badass. It is a complete rip of FFVII, as are so many bits of this game. It has Cloud's Ultima Weapon sword and Eden. Start by having Squall Mug a Three Stars and Zell Draw Eden. Quistis should start Stocking the thing's Ultima magic. Now the boss battle REALLY starts.

After the opening rounds, you will be constantly healing and supporting characters more often than bashing Ultima Weapon. Have a character summon Doomtrain to inflict Vit 0 on him. If you don't have Doomtrain, then you must waste time casting Meltdown until it works. Now that it has no Defense stat, rip at it. Scan it if you want HP tallies. Elementally, everything is normal, but Ice is slightly better, so summon Shiva on a regular basis. If you have it at a high level, summon Cactuar to inflct massive damage with 1000 Needles. Ultima Weapon has Light Pillar, which is an instant death attack for one party member. Quickly get them back up.

If you need to consider your next move, pause and chill. A great method of rippping heaps of HP off it is to follow up Vit 0 with Aura on Squall and unleashing Renzokuken. This rips off a lot of HP and can potentially kill Ultima Weapon in 2 hits. If you have the Lion Heart weapon for Squall, then the finishing attack Lion Heart may be used. If you got Eden and gave your foe Vit 0, then this can kill it. Ouch. Your rewards for winning this horrible fight (if done correctly) are: Eden, Eden's Triple Triad card, whatever spells you managed to Draw, a Three Stars, an Ultima Stone and a SeeD level increase. I love that damn boost in rank. It got me to the highest SeeD rank of the lot. Name Eden, junction him, heal, SAVE and get out of this hell-hole. There are no monsters until the final 6 levels. Good luck on the way out.

Esthar AGAINEdit

You should now possess all 16 GFs plus Odin. If so, it's time to further the plot. Head back to Esthar in Ragnarok and junction up. Take a close look at the Ability menus of Bahamut and Eden. Set them the most useful abilities available and also take a look at your current party and see if it's what you want. Get any final weapon upgrades now, as this is your final chance. Draw any spells you need, then proceed inside Esthar City.

As we just witnessed, the Lunar Cry brought a heap of monsters down upon the good ol' planet, so Esthar City is currently besieged by them. Iron Giants and other monsters from the plains are here. A new enemy is the Elnoyle. Remember Elvoret? This is its child. It has really powerful attacks, with high HP to back it up. If you use Rinoa, you really need to level her up, as she has been unconscious for the whole disc. She can now use Angel Wing, which is probably your best bet against an Elnoyle. They hold rare Energy Crystals, which you need for weaopn upgrades. Fight through the city with your favourite party until you reach the Palace you were at when Edea was a party member.

Speak to the guards and they let you in. Take the elevator made of seats up and then walk to the bottom of the room. Now go to the left in the next room to enter the President's office. Prepare yourselves for the whole thing you have to do, like practise the Pledge of Allegiance. But no, this is Esthar, not the USA.

If you have not already guessed who Esthar's President is, not only are you a fucking retard, but I'll tell you: it's Laguna Loire, ably assisted by Kiros and Ward, who are wearing really hopeless outfits. Jeez, why fuck up Kiros even more? Yes, a cool character. Let's hope he joins the party. Squall sees him and rips on him with complaints about attitude. Squall, you walked through the whole game with a crappy attitude, don't pay out on Laguna. The reason you are a retard if you didn't figure out who was President is because the dreams tell you how the whole thing happened. Jesus. Anyway, talking to Laguna opens up a list of options to talk about. Run through all of them. Now Dr. Fuckhead runs in and tells you all about Ultimecia. Follow this link to discover heaps more about said whore.

It turns out the Sorceress' big evil plot for the world is to compress time to freeze everything eternally in one moment. Then she will live eternally and discover all the secrets of the world. She needs Ellone to move forward in time to the future and compress time. But Ellone is on the Lunatic Pandora, where she is at Ultimecia's mercy. Great job, Laguna. Send her up at the time of the Lunar Cry, what could go wrong. Also, Adel survives and Ultimecia is going to use her for bad things. Odine also created a machine which simulates Ellone's power, to trick Ultimecia. Yuor party is now transported to the bridge on board Ragnarok. Laguna asks that you stop Adel, free Ellone and prevent that time compression. He also asks if Rinoa is willing for Ellone to take her to the future. If you challenge Laguna to Triple Triad, you win Squall's card, which the old paedophile has been masturbating over for the last 17 years. Now you may command Ragnarok.

After you are piloting the ship, I seriously mean it when I say now is your best chance fro any other sidequests. If you are absolutely certain, then let's go. Ensure you are junctioned, then turn Ragnarok to face the Lunatic Pandora, which is hovering over Tears' Point. You don't need to land and enter, just run straight at the thing and Ragnarok plows through the outer shell and into the dark interior...
