Welcome to the actual game, at long last.
Duel of the Fates
Edit
After the creepy opening stills, you can start the game. You get to watch a scene, accompanied by one of the best track in the game. Toward the end, the fight between Squall and his rival Seifer heats up. Then Seifer cheats with his awesomeness. For some reason Seifer doesn't need a GF to use magic like normal people and blasts Squall with a Fire spell. I have no idea why Squall isn't even hurt, just knocked to his knees. Seifer then slashes him across the face with his Gunblade and Squall is given that lovely scar. Squall then gives Seifer an identical scar. I'll throw in this fight:

Added by Hecko XYep, Squall seriously needs a life. Apparently he spends all his time training. Yeah, like that works. So our hero just lost a duel in high school. In the real world he's finished. No, I don't get all the feathers. Now he awakens in Balamb Garden's Infirmary.
He is suddenly accosted by a weirdo calling her/itself Dr Kadowaki, who asks for our hero to say his name. So you may name Squall. In this walkthrough, his name shall be Squall. So having named our hero, Kadowaki calls Squall's vapidly hot teacher, Instructor Quistis Trepe, to collect her student. No, you can't name Quistis. Squall has slept overnight due to the force of his exertion. After Quistis tries to get to know Squall (and gets nowhere) Squall is automatically taken to the classroom on the second floor.

Added by BluetashNow Quistis lectures Seifer, emos can cut themselves, they don't need you to do it for them. Seifer responds by thumping his desk. Squall, having been asleep for a day, hasn;t completed his practical SeeD exam. He has to do it as a prerequisite for the final SeeD exam. He also needs an instructor with him. Quistis gladly accompanies him. Oh, alone with Quistis gush her fan club, the "Trepies". Oh that sucks. I'm not a Trepie, I hate that club. They're just trying to jump the queue for a bed with the good Instructor.
After we gain control, head back to where Squall was sitting and keep pressing X till Squall sits down. He then turns on his study computer built into the desk. Now browse the main menu. You can read everything if you must, but the only entry we need to read currently is "Tutorial". Its marked with a New! tag. Squall is authorised to claim his assigned GFs: Quetzalcotl and Shiva. Then you may name the GFs. Turn off the computer and open the party meno with O. Select "Junction" and select Squall. You may now junction Squall with GFs. As Quistis will be joining us shortly, only give Squall one. I recommend Shiva. Also, his battle menu should be Magic, GF, Draw. Now head outside.

Added by BluerfnAs Squall walks down the hall, he is suddenly sexually assaulted by Selphie, who wants a tour of the Garden. It turns out she's an exchange student from Trabia Garden, who dumped this bitch on us. Fuck Trabia, they are so dead when we got a better party. She asks for a tour. A TOUR!? What the fuck? We're mercenaries, not tour guides. You don't have to accept her requeat and I assume you won't, there's no point. Now head through the hall Selphie just came out of. Talk to the loner hanging here to recieve 7 Triple Triad cards. If you like Triple Triad, you may challenge a few students to a game, but we must complete our mission first. Head down the elevator.
On the gorund floor, save and head through the many screens. Eventually you'll see a pink fountain thing. Head up and examine it. Now use it to Draw Cure magic. We now have our first magic, yes. Now we need to head to the right of the Draw Point, as that's where Quistis is waiting for us.
Quistis greets you then gives you a tutorial of the GF junctioning. Somehow, Quistis has higher level GFs than the party should and Ifrit too, even though we don't have Ifrit yet. Don't worry, we get him in this mission. Now Quistis joins your party and you must assign her a GF and battle menu. Give her your spare GF and the same menu as Squall. You shouldn't find your characters KO'd much, if so, kill yourself before you die of embarrassment. After assigning menus, go to the GF menu and set the ability Boost as the ability for both GFs to learn. Now head out into the wider world.

Added by JBedOn the world map, you can currently go to three areas: Balamb Garden, Balamb Town and the Fire Cavern. You need to go to the Fire Cavern, but first you should prepare Squall and Quistis by battling. The main enemies on the grasslands are Bite Bugs. Pathetically weak, they are designed to be easily slain. You can Draw Fire and Scan. The Scan spells are useful throughout the adventure, so stock about 30. Draw Fire, though its useless in this mission, you'll need it for later and you can junction it to improve your stats. Also try practising with the Gunblade trigger feature. More rarely are Glacial Eyes, its crucial you fight them. They have Blizzard and Cure spells. Have both characters Draw Cure and have the character who doesn't have Shiva Draw a lot of Blizzard magic, as Ifrit is weak against Blizzard. Also have your other character Draw Blizzard for their stats. Head into the forest and battle a Caterchipillar. They have Thunder spells and Cure as well. Get both magic Drawn, then kill it. Caterchipillars almost always drop Spider Webs. Use this item on Quistis when not in battle and she learns her second and more powerful Blue Magic skill, Ultra Waves. This attack hits all enemies and is useful in a pinch. Now head to the Fire Cavern after getting lots of Cure, Blizzard and Scan spells. Also, having Squall Lv 12 and Quistis Lv 13 like I did is also good.
