[edit] Chapter 1-1 - Mako Reacter 1
After watching a poorly aminated and badly rendered intro movie (which by the way is this games best graphics that are reserved only for the most special of cut scenes(yes, meaning the in game graphics are evn worse(not that that doen't mean that this game isn't amazing))) you will be thrown right into the action. Fresh off the train you will find yourself playing as Ex-SOILDER, but even if you are itching for some action it is advisable first off to enter the "MENU" and go to "Config" so that you can change cancel (which is cross) to enter and enter (which is circle) to cancel making the controls westernised instead of being in thier eastern native way ( I also reccomend you doing this a sthroughout this guide it is in this button configuration that I will refer to the buttons) . While you are in the "Config" menu you may as well change your window colour (your window colour is the colour of the box that both text and battle information is shown in) to something that you like preferrably not white as the colour of the text is white and cannot be changed. Also in reguards to the ATB system I reccomend keeping it on reccomended as on wait battle becomes annoyingly slow and because on active you will find that it will find that battle tends to swing in the favour of your opponents and not you. Also make sure that your sound is set to stereo and that you have teaked the text speed to be at you speed of reading. Another thing I would reccomend would be to leave both the battle speed and the battle text speed as they are as speeding up battle speed makes them go way to fast and leaves you to little time to think of stradgy simularily speeding up battle text spped makes it nion impossible to read the messages quick enough. However, slowing down the battle text speed is fine if you cannot read very quickly but slowing down battle speed makes the game slow and boring the only people who do this are pussies and retards. now that you have configured all you settings you are ready to play. Exit the "MENU" using the cancel button and then begin to walk foreward (NOTE: holding cancel will make you run)
