Head to Rocket Town and head to the rocket. Big shock, Shinra is there ready to launch the single Huge Materia they have at Meteor. Battle past the Shinra until Cid comes and demands to come along. I took him and Tifa, and took my Steal Materia from Vincent. Nothing against him, but Tifa is set to Limit Break. Head up the rocket and confront Rude.
Rude has only half the HP he did before, and this time he doesn't have Reno around to Confuse you. Use a summon to kill off his bodyguards, then Steal his Ziedrich. That gives us two, one more and we've enough for everyone. Trust me, these things will be useful later. For now, just get Rude's item then pummel him. As mentioned, Tifa had a full Limit meter, and a single barrage of martial arts moves was all that was needed to send Rude packing. He can cast MBarrier, but too bad for him, it does nothing to block Limit Breaks. Once he's out of the way, enter the rocket, beat the lone guard, and head for the cockpit.
Here, we find out what I just told you, Shinra is launching the rocket at Meteor. But the auto-pilot isn't working, among a few other things. Shera is trying to fix it, but Cid knows better than to wait for her. Cid stays behind to launch the rocket himself. Now Cid gives some totally out-of-character speech about science and magic, and how he believes in the former. Just, it's so not a Cid speech. He doesn't even swear once while making it. This moment is ruined when that fat tub Palmer launches the rocket. Oops. Watch the cool FMV of the rocket blasting off.
Yup, the rocket is set to slam into Meteor, and there's no turning back. Fortunately, there's an escape pod. Head into the right door and head up the ladder. Examine the device and input the code. You can do it randomly, or listen to me:

Follow Shera to the escape pod. It launches, and Cid takes a moment to appreciate the view. Then, boom boom, the rocket hits Meteor. And it does pretty much nothing. Big shock, isn't it? Back on the airship, Cloud mentions that the plan was a failure. Well DUH, because you screwed it up all the while! Maybe if you had let Shinra launch the Huge Materia, all four of them, as planned it would have worked. We also get another un-Cid speech from Cid about how the planet is so small and sick, it's like a kid, so they've got to protect it. Of all the metaphors one could use, that has to be among the worst. And to top it off, for all his talk about protecting the planet, he still has no clue how to do it. Red XIII gives you your next destination - Cosmo Canyon.
Holy Light
Edit
Head to the store at the back of the area once you arrive. Go through the doorway behind the counter for a hidden area with a Magic Source, Elixir and a Full Cure Materia. Now climb to the top of the canyon and talk to Bugenhagen. He spouts some planet babble before Cloud calls the gang in. Now everything thinks for a moment, and comes up with something - Aeris. She said she could stop Meteor. Cloud agrees they have to find out what she tried to do, and finish it. They all set out, and before you go, Bugenhagen stashes away the Huge Materia for you. If you've got the Bahamut and Neo Bahamut Materias, approach the Blue Huge Materia to recieve Bahamut ZERO. As for the other three, you have to master all Materia of their corresponding color, and you're likely not even close. So just leave for now, watch the small scene, and head for the Forgotten Capital.
Enter the city, take a left at the fork and circle around to the back. You'll trigger a scene, run around to the center alter. Bugenhagen tells you the planet is in a crisis. No shit, how'd you figure that out, look up? Then, a glimmer of hope: Holy, the ultimate White Magic that can stop Meteor. When the time comes, Holy will erase the world of all threats, which may or may not include humans. Well that sucks. Holy can only be called with the White Materia, which was lost in the waters below the city. Bugenhagen starts laughing and points out an inscription below the alter which mentions a key. At this time, if you didn't get that Key to Ancients I mentioned last time, go snag it now.
Bugenhagen places the key in its hole, activating a musical tune and causing a wave of energy to surround the alter. Approach the alter again and watch the scene. It's Aeris' death all over again, but this time we notice her Materia is already glowing. Holy has already be called. Cloud remembers his dream of her a long time ago, and realizes Aeris sacrificed her life to give them hope. So, uh, where is Holy anyway, if she summoned it? Sephiroth must be stopping it. Figures. Try and leave the city now and watch the scene. Cait Sith calls and mentions that Rufus has moved the Sister Ray to Midgar. Watch the impressive scene of the cannon, which is aimed right at Sephiroth. Leave the city and attempt to board the airship.
Diamonds Aren't Forever Anymore

There's an earthquake, and we get to see something very big rise from the sea. It's another Weapon! And it's headed straight for Midgar. Cait Sith confronts Barret about his terrorist actions now, and Barret does a bad job of justifying himself. And then some talking, and surprise surprise; we're off to fight the Weapon. Land near Midgar, wait for the Weapon to come ashore, then approach it to fight.
Diamond Weapon is weak to Lightning, so bust out that Materia and spam Bolt 3 against it. Bolt 3 should hit for around 5000 damage, so beating Diamond Weapon should only take a few turns. It's attacks include two physicals, so just cast Regen + All and Big Guard. It has a weapon for Yuffie, and this is the only time to get it, so take it if you want to use her, though I can't imagine why. Diamond Weapon is largely immune to physicals as well, so if you don't have Bolt 3 use whatever other powerful spells you have. Trine, Ultima and that Contain Materia you have should all work fine. He shouldn't give you too much trouble if you have Bolt 3 though.
For your victory, you get an absolute shitload of AP and Exp, 3500 AP and 35000 Exp. Five Materia pieces leveled up, and my characters all gained two or three levels. Wow. BTW, I'm over Level 50 now kiddies, with a lot of Mastered Materia. How about you? Good. Watch as Diamond Weapon stomps towards Midgar now, and Rufus orders the Sister Ray to fire. We get a FMV of it charging, and then, it fires a long blast of blue energy, just as Diamond Weapon unleashes its own attack. The Sister Ray's blast pierces and goes right through it, and breaks the barrier over the Northern Crater. However, energy barrage from Diamond Weapon slams into Shinra HQ. Bye bye Rufus...well no time for mourning, we've gotta check out the crater! Fly over and watch the scene. Someone has taken over the Sister Ray's controls...it's our old buddy Professor Hojo! Sephiroth can wait, I've been waiting a disk and a half to kill this guy! This is for trying to make Aeris engage in bestiality you little worm! There's a bunch of other stuff said, but hey, we get to kill Hojo at last, that's what matters most! Fly to Midgar now and watch the gang parachute to the rescue.
NOTE - the Wutai and Sunken Gelnika subsquests cannot be done on Disk 3. If you want to do them, do them before you enter Midgar, or you won't be able to do them later.
Retun to Midgar
Edit
Follow Cait Sith to find a Save and a path into the sewers. Follow the sloping path right, then up another ramp onto a pipe. Go left for an Elixir, right for a Megalixir, then return to the entrance. Go down the stairs and the ladder, then go right and up another ladder for an Aegis Armlet. Climb back down and head right past the ladder until you jump over, the platform falls away and you fall to the lower level. Go left and climb the ladder back up. Go enter the air duct and open the chests at the end for a Starlight Phone and an Elixir. Climb down, and enter the second duct. Go up the ladder here and take the Max Ray, then go back down the duct. Go up the ladder and up the stairs, save, and go through the door.
