And the weather's decided to give up being pleasant. It lasted about a week, so I guess I can't complain. Besides, it's October -- it was only nice in October once in the last few years, and it brought the BBC South East camera crews to Broadstairs to watch people freaking out. Good times.

Fly to the middle of the world, and go east to find the Pirates' Hideout.

Pirates' Hideout[]

Items[]

Syldra-ffv-ios

Head to hideout and go left. Faris will see the spirit of Syldra on that suspiciously event-looking platform. You'll obtain Syldra as a summon! Awesome.

Now head northwest. You'll come to a castle by a lake with a bridge on the left side. This is the Sealed Castle from earlier where you fought the Shield Dragon.

Sealed Castle[]

Enemies[]

Boss Battle: Exdeath
ExdeathsSoul-ffv-ios

Level: 1
HP: 20,000
MP: 20,000
ABP: 7

Steal: Nothing
Drops: Dark Matter

Weakness: Holy
Immunity: Earth
Absorbs: -

Difficulty: Hard
Strategy:

He has three different ways to kill you -- Death, Banish and Reaper's Sword. He can't target the entire party at once, but his high HP count makes the fight take a while. Healing isn't the priority -- just reviving.

Spam it with -aga spells for a reliable 10-turn win.

By the way, have one character with Control on the off-chance that you encounter a Shield Dragon.

Head north and down the stairs. You'll come to a dais. Place the tablet onto it and the twelve pillars in the room will rise. These contain the Twelve Legendary Weapons, the weapons used to seal Enuo into the Void. Let's nab 'em. Well, you can only pick three per tablet, so make sure you get the three that you want!

Have a look here to see what you can pick up. Once you've tooled up, fly south to find the Big Bridge. Land on the left side and enter.

Island Shrine[]

Enemies[]

Items[]

  • Crystal Helm
  • Ether
  • Beast Killer
  • Ether
  • Dragon Fang
  • Dark Matter
  • Circlet
Island Shrine

Defeat the Gargoyles at the entrance. In the next room, go through the right wall to find a hidden passage to a chest containing 12,000 Gil.

Follow the path until you find an air vent. At the other end, you'll find two switches. In the southwest side of the room, examine the left wall in the last tile before the character sprite is obscured by the south wall to find a Hi-Potion. On the other side of the room is an Iron Draft, in the east wall in the tile where the character is mostly obscured by the south wall.

Press the right switch first, and re-enter the vent to be sucked to a room containing an Elixir. Return to the switch room and press the left one. The vent will now take you to a chest containing 9,000 Gil.

Return and press the right switch. You'll come to a room containing a guarded chest; inside is a Pantera and a Rising Sun. Go through the door to find a Save Point.

In the next room, go straight to find a chest containing a Protect Ring. It's guarded by a Mecha Head. Head to the right wall. You can clip through at the tile above the corner. Grab the Crystal Helm.

APQ Pitfalls

Go back through the wall and take the left path and go north to find an Ether. Head up to the third floor. Enter the room ahead of you to find a Beast Killer.

If you have Find Passages, ignore the secret path to the right. The game is playing you this time -- if you go for the secret path you'll fall through a hole in the floor.

Up on the 5th Floor, there are more hidden pitfalls. Take a look at my carefully-prepared picture ;)

Open the chests from another direction for an Ether and a Dragon Fang. Head up to the 6th floor to find another Save Point. On 7F, go left to find a Dark Matter and right to get a Circlet. Now approach the the tablet and examine it. A monster will appear (and mistake Bartz for a girl). It's go time!

Boss Battle: Wendigo
Wendigo-ffv-ios

Level: 7
HP: 20,000
MP: 8,192
ABP: 20

Steal: Nothing
Drops: Dark Matter

Weakness: -
Immunity: Earth
Absorbs: Water

Difficulty: Medium
Strategy:

If you have equipment that nullifies or absorbs Ice, you're laughing. The gimmick here is that there are four copies of the boss, but only one is the real one. And it keeps switching. And if you attack them all at once, the three fakes will counter with Frost, which hits the party for about 300 damage.

If you can withstand Ice attacks, you can just summon Syldra over and over until you win -- its only other attacks are the Blue Magic Mind Blast.

You now have the second tablet! Three more legendary weapons for your face. On your way out, remember to flip both switches to the 'up' position.

Head north to Carwen and east to the Sealed Castle, then claim your weapons. That's all for now -- next time, we'll be getting the best White and Black spells in the game and reclaiming the submarine!
