The CharactersEdit

The party is, in this game, made up by 4 characters. Throughout most of the game, the 4th character is temporary, being replaced after a little while. Be aware that some characters maintain their equipment after leaving, using it on Soul of Rebirth, while others don't show up in Soul of Rebirth and you lose the pieces of equipment you equipped them with.

Dual-Wielding is the way to go on this game, and duty-specification is also useful.

Firion is the main character of this game. He was adopted by Maria and Leon's family and resides in Fynn, like the whole crew does. He's the party leader, and he was the character chosen to be represent this game in Dissidia, along with the Emperor, that evil bitch. His default job is Fighter and he uses Swords by default. I usually use him as a Warrior/Black Mage/Red Mage, and I remove his shield and equip him with another Sword.

Maria is the female lead of this game. She's the party's woman, as we don't know in which sex should we insert Leila. She's the adoptive sister to Firion and biological sister to Leon, and surprisingly enough, she lives in Fynn too. Her default job is Archer and she uses Bows by default (How strange!). I usually use her as an Archer/White Mage, and I let her stay with her Bow, though I immediately push her to the front row in battle. Maria is the most important character in the game, if you change her to a White Mage.

Gus or Guy is the party's brute. He is childhood-friends with Maria, Firion and Leon, but his past is unknown. His default job is Berserker and he uses Axes by default. I usually use him as a Brute/Time(Green) Mage, I basically stump him with all the status and supportive magic that are useful, making him a big asset to the team. As for equipment, I just get him another Axe, and he turns out into a unstoppable behemoth.

Leon is the last character to be obtained. I just put him here now because he is one of the main characters of the game. He serves as Maria's biological brother and he's a great fighter, to bad his stats suck when you get him. When he gets in your party, he comes with around 1000 Hp, when your whole party is meant to be at least at some 2500-3000 Hp. His default job is Dark Knight and he uses Swords by default. He is the only main character who is left-handed. I usually use him as a I use Firion, with changes in magic. I give him high-level magic like Flare, Aura, Berserk, Haste, Toad and Holy, but he is often my worst character.

Minwu (Mindu) is Fynn's greatest White Wizard and he is the one who saves the party from certain death. He stays in you party for a while in the beginning and [Spoilers] dies [told ya]. He leads the party in Soul of Rebirth, so you would be smart in getting him the best equipment available before he leaves the party. His default job is White Mage and he uses Maces by default. I usually use him as a White Mage (duh!), and he is the most useful character in Soul of Rebirth. As for equipment, I let him stay by staffs and maces. Holy does enough damage.

Josef is a tough guy who lives in the town of Salamand. He is a rebel spy and helps the party getting to the Ice Cavern. He dies there and gets very useful in Soul of Rebirth. His default job is Monk and he fights bare-handed, though with a lot of strength. He can easily be your best attacker. I usually use him as a Monk/White Mage, and I only change his armour throughout the game.

Gordon is the game's wimpy character and served as an inspiration for the spoony bard we all know (and dislike). He's the Prince of Kashuan and a total coward who blames himself for his brother's death. His default job is Knight(WTF?!) and he comes with sucky equipment. I usually use him as a Warrior/White Mage, and I equip him with maces or spears. You really don't have to spend magic on him. Remember to remove all of his equipment before he runs away with it.

Leila is the game's lesbian character and served as an inspiration for the pirate we all know. She's a pirate captain, and after you defeat her crew, she joins your party. Her default job is Thief and she uses Knives by default. I usually use her as a Thief/Healer, and she is the temporary character who remains with you for the longest period of the game (this is very arguable). As for equipment, I let her stay by her knifes, and maybe some swords. She's also one of the only characters who is left handed. Don't forget that you must remove her equipment, before the bitch runs away with it.

Ricard (Gareth) is the first dragoon of the series. Yes, you heard it. Dragoon. He's just awesome and badass. He shows up inside the Leviathan, and gets killed in the main story, to be (well) used at Soul of Rebirth. His default job is Dragoon (duh!) and he uses Spears by default. I usually use him as a Dragoon/Support Mage, and I remove his shield and get him another Spear, so that he gets even more badass. About magic, I get him High-level magic too, like Flare, Aura, Haste, Berserk and I try to get him Osmose. Thing is, you will probably only get these spells in Soul of Rebirth, so just stay by attacking physically while you have him alive. He sure is good at that.
