Strategy- This is a battle that you just can't win. I don't even know if you can win it with Gameshark. Never tried it. Just accept your destiny and kill yourself to hasten the battle.
Sergeant
HP- 420
MP- 10
Difficulty- Medium
Strategy- Well...If you're under-leveled, this battle can be quite hard for you. His defense is HUGE and his attack power is quite big. Your best bet is magic and Guy's attacks. Have Minwu cast whichever defensive magic Maria isn't casting. Firion should cast black magic and Guy should attack with his axes. He's not that tough. Remember to heal with either Maria or Minwu.
Adamantoise
HP- 675
MP-
Difficulty- Very Easy/Very Hard
Strategy- This battle's difficulty depends in your possession of Blizzard. Basically: Spam it. Spam it. Spam it. Spam it. Other wise, make a defensive barrier with Maria and pray for luck.
Borghen
HP- 240
MP- 20
Difficulty-Very Easy
Strategy- This thing isn't a boss! He's an encounter with a cooler music! Do whatever you wish on this fight, except killing yourself, because that's the only way to lose this battle.}}
Red Soul
HP- 530
MP- 30
Difficulty- Medium
Strategy- This is a normal boss battle. What matter the most here is that you're able to survive his barrage of level-8 spells. Cast Shell to ease up things. His MP is way too short for his spells' levels, so he will only have 4 casts available, that gives you 4 turns of survival. Then just hit him with all you've got. Don't hit him with magic, he'll absorb it.
Chimera (x4?)
HP- 700
MP- 80
Difficulty- Easy/Medium/Hard
Strategy- Okay. The "(x4?)" means that the number you'll face is random, and it's max is 4 and it's minimum is 1. So try reseting your game until you have only 1 Chimera to own, so that this fight is easier than kicking a Sergeant's ass, but only easies because they don't have the power to damage like them. Raise your shields and powering spells. Shell is nice to counter Blaze and Berserk is your best weapon. They have no defense to exploit unless it is Curse.
Lamia Queen
HP- 1290
MP- 370
Difficulty- Medium/Hard
Strategy- She's tough as hell and the music shows it. Charm is the most dangerous weapon on her arsenal and Blind is in the most powerful form of it. Her normal attack may induce Sleep, but luckily, your Silence spell is at a nice level, and good Basuna and Esuna are a must to counter all these nasty effects. You can try to hit her with that, but if you can't, just don't worry. Cast a wave of defensive and supportive spells on your party and hack at Lamia. If you can't seem to beat her, level up your restorative spells.
Behemoth
HP- 1290
MP- 370
Difficulty- Medium/Hard
Strategy- This guy is no pushover! His attack and defense stat are big so cast Protect, Blink and Berserk and hit him will all you've got. Heal constantly and don't worry about Gordon. Magic is not effective, unless it's high-leveled.
Gottos
HP- 2000
MP- 70
Difficulty- Easy/Medium
Strategy- This guy is easy. He'll spend some time powering himself up, so do it too. Cast Aura, Berserk, Protect and Blink, then hack at him with all you've got. Don't worry spending magic on him unless it's high-leveled. After a while, he's gone.
Big Horn (x4?)
HP- 1140
MP- 0
Difficulty- Easy
Strategy- Again, the "(x4?)". This battle is easy as hell! The Big Horns have no kind of target-all attacks, so they stay wit physical attacks. Much like a Behemoth battle, but easier, as the Big Horns are weaker. You have probably already found these near Mysidia. Cast Protect, Blink, Haste, Aura and Berserk to haste the battle and if you got any Osmose scrolls don't try using them: Big Horns have no MP.
Roundworm
HP- 2500
MP- 0
Difficulty- Medium
Strategy- This beast hits hard, but that's the only thing it does. Lift up your defenses, as you will make good use of them. Berserk, Aura and Haste are crucial to this fight, as the Roundworm has a lot of HP. After a lot of Cures and blows, you will vanquish the thing.
Fire Gigas
HP- 1800
MP- 0
Difficulty- Easy/Medium
Strategy- Not that hard, not that easy. He absorbs fire so using fire weapons and spells is a really bad idea. Instead, if you have Maria with an Ice Bow, she'll hit him hard, and if Guy's equipped with an Ogrekiller (or two), the battle's won! Don't forget to pump up your characters for an easier fight. Otherwise, have someone spamming Blizzard on him and have your defenses up. Harder fights are yet to come.
Ice Gigas
HP- 2000
MP- 0
Difficulty- Easy/Medium
Strategy- He's a pumped up cousin of the Fire Gigas, thus, being stronger. The strategy for this guy is the same as the one for Fire Gigas, only with inversed elements. As now, you have a lot of Fire-elemental equipment, this fight will be easier, but if you can, you should focus on Spells, as the Gigas' magic defense is lower than defense. After a while, the fight will end.
Thunder Gigas
HP- 2500
MP- 370
Difficulty- Hard/Very hard
Strategy- Now, if Ice Gigas was the pumped up cousin of Fire Gigas, Thunder Gigas is the pumped up uncle of Fire Gigas. This thing's no pushover. Raise your defenses to the max or either his attacks or his spells will grind your bones: Shell, Blink, Protect, Aura, Haste and Berserk. He has 150 Atack, which is "only" 1.5x the attack of Fire Gigas, so don't goof around. When you're completely overpowered, spam Scourge, to exploit his only weakness: Poison. Use Thunder if you're a masochist, or use the Wizard Staff you got before if you actually wish to win this. Don't even think to act without ordering someone to Heal. Healing is crucial to win this fight.
Emperor Mateus Palamecia+ Wood Golem + Royal Guard x2
HP (Emperor) - 3000
MP (Emperor) - 190
Difficulty- Easy\Medium
Strategy- Simple fight. Burn the Wood Golem and slaughter the two guards. Then, raise Shell and your power boosters. Hit the Emperor with your weapons, as he isn't much of a fighter. Shell will surely ward you from Slow and other spells. You can Dispel his buffs if he casts any, but you surely won't have any problem with this fight.
Zombie Borghen
HP- 2500
MP- 370
Difficulty- Easy
Strategy- This guy is so weak that he wasn't even able to open the gates to hell. Hit him with Cure and Life to beat the hell out of him. Holy does nice damage too. You can use this fight to heal yourself, as it houses no difficulty.
Tiamat
HP- 5000
MP- 450
Difficulty- Medium/Hard
Strategy- Tiamat isn't easy. Her spells can be devastating and her attack power is big. Her defenses are unbreakable without buffs. Get someone on your party ready to heal/revive your characters. Shell-Blink-Protect-Aura-Haste-Berserk combo is necessary for this fight. Tiamat loves to cast level 16 spells and absorbs every elemental, so magic is useless. Masamune deals quite good damage, and you should not equip it to the same character that wields the Excalibur.
Beelzebub
HP- 5000
MP- 450
Difficulty- Medium
Strategy- Unlike Tiamat, Beelzebub is a simple boss. Of course, you must be ready to heal and raise buffs, but he isn't very hard. He also likes casting magic, but your Magic defense should be great enough at this time to protect from any status and drastically drop the magic damage done to your party. Don't cast fire, or you'll be healing the beast. Its status are equal to Tiamat's, but Tiamat's spells can be much more devastating.
Astaroth
HP- 5000
MP- 450
Difficulty- Medium/Hard
Strategy- Astaroth is another magic caster. Raise Shell and Protect and start hacking at him. This is the last boss before the Final Boss, and it's a good farewell. His attack power is better than the other bosses, as he drains a percentage of your HP. Death, Fire and Drain 16 are his worst spells, but, once again, your magical defense should be rather high at this point. Physical attacks really are his most dangerous weapon, but, if you managed to defeat Tiamat and Beelzebub, you'll probably know how to handle this guy.}}
The Emperor
HP- 15000
MP- 540
Difficulty- Easy/Hard
Strategy- This is it. The great battle against Emperor Mateus. Flare 16 and Starfall 10 are the basis of his offense, where he adds physical attacks with drain, which are deadly. Curse, Slow and Blind are also nasty as they reduce the damage dealt.
Equip the Blood Sword if you want an easy fight, it can take at least 6000 HP per hit, otherwise, bring your defenses up and buff your characters. Elixirs are meant to be spent here, so don't think twice if you're in a pinch. If your Flare or Holy spells are high-leveled, you may want to cast them. A well-leveled Ultima can also be an interesting choice. You must try to deal as much damage as the Emperor absorbs, and that can be an hard task. Too bad there's not a libra spell to show if you're doing well. After a lot of hard work (or not, if you used the Blood Sword), the Emperor will be gone. For good.
Strategy- This is the new dungeon's first battle, and as you only have two characters, it's supposed to be easy. Kill the Sergeants first, as the Black Knight's stats have been drastically decreased. Have Minwu to cast Blink and Protect to reduce the damage dealt and have Scott to attack or casting his spells. If you got a Mage Staff for Minwu on the Arcane Labyrinth, this and other battles are as good as won. I also hope that Minwu is equipped with Mythril, as he is a crucial character, not only on this battle but on this dungeon as well.
Zombie Borghen
HP- 2500
MP- 370
Difficulty- Easy
Strategy- Good news and bad news. Bad news first - you'll have to face this pushover again. Good new - he still remains easy and you have Josef to help! Have Minwu to cast his support spells and Scott and Josef to attack. Borghen can stun your characters with his attack though, but that isn't much of a problem as two of your characters can cast cure. After a while, Borghen will die. Again.
Roundworm
HP- 2000
MP- 0
Difficulty- Easy
Strategy- This fight should be easy with Ricard by your side. I hope that you leveled him well, as he will be your party's main damage dealer for now. This battle shouldn't take a turn.
Ultima Weapon
HP- 15000
MP- 190
Difficulty- Hard/Very Hard
Strategy- 15000 HP of pure nightmare. Flare 16, colossal physical attacks and hard defenses are only some of the properties of this killing machine. Buffs are necessary to damage the beast. High stats can help too. Normal attacks are the only way to victory, as Ultima Weapon is resistant to every element. Its Blaze spell consists on heavy fire damage to the party, but magic defense is the easiest stat to level. Flare goes by the same way. Physical attacks can only be warded with Protect and Blink, and still, they can be truly damaging. Minwu should focus on healing whoever gets hit, and Scott should assist him if needed. It's an hard battle, but with these strategies, you will make it.
