Walkthrough:Final Fantasy/BlueHighwind/Part 7

From Final Fantasy Wiki

What are you lookin' at, Space Monkies? I am BlueHighwind, and I have an unique way of choosing my intros. A few years ago I wrote about ten thousand non-sequitor introductions and then left them in giant pen with ten thousand wolves with one tied to their backs. Then I cut the food supply and wait for one to die of starvation or be eaten by his fellow canines in a cannibalistic frenzy. Whoever dies gets their intro added to these walkthroughs. Grizzly admitted but still fun.

[edit] Mount Gulug

Prepare for a bit of kayaking trip, just watch out for crazy ass-raping rednecks. Your destination is to the Northwest so don't go South, at the second fork go North. The first route Northwest leads to a dead end instead go up the second one you see and then West and around to find the Volcano.

Gulug is a volcano so expect Fire based enemies. Your Black Mage is your best friend here blasting Ice spells to crush them on their weakness. This entire dungeon is filled with hot molten rock that so the temperature in here is easily 1175 degrees Centigrade (2142 degrees Fahrenheit). At this temperature our skin should be melting off at the bones (that's real home cooking for you) and just one step in that lava will melt our foot clean off. Just breathing in the air will scald your lungs and you'll die of asphyxiation. But our team is protected by Deus Ex Machina all a step in lava will do is just the loose of 1 HP. The lava can't even kill us, if our HP is 1 then the lava can't take away anymore.

Go up to the lava flow and walk calmly over the lava and you'll see the stairway leading down. There are two options here either down all the way West and down the stairs or wander through all the maze above for the treasure. Hmm, what way will BlueHighwind recommend? First go up and then to the West a bit to find a treasure chest containing a Myrthil Helm. Now go South to the treasure chest which holds 1520 Gil. Now go North to find a crossroads going East and West. West leads to a long and winding series of hallways that eventually will take you to a Great Sword. If you only grab one treasure on this floor take that one. Going to other way will lead to a chest holding 4150 Gil. Now go up to the Northeast corner and around those winding hallways.

Go down the second path down you see. Along the way you'll find two chests with 795 Gil and 750 Gil. Now go all the way South to find the motherload of chests. Its mine see! Mine!! I'm a happy miser. All together they all contain: a Mythril Helm, Mythril Gloves, 1520 Gil, 1760 Gil, Mythril Shield, Mythril Axe, Phoenix Down, 1455 Gil, Antidote, 1975 Gil, Tent, and a Hi-Potion. Now go East the first path you see leading that way and down through the door. If your not feeling so hot you can go East and retreat back to Crescent Lake. If your war machine isn't yet used up go West and down the stairs.

Luckily there aren't any chests worth stealing so just head East to the stairs. This floor is complete flooded with lava. Go to the Southeast and down the stairs. Its B3 again, go to the Southwest corner to find the exit. Go South then West, then South, then all the way West to the exit.

Lots of goodies here. Go North to find two chests with a Gold Needle and 2750 Gil. Now continue to follow the path to find another treasure room this time with 1760 Gil. Go West to find a treasure room with five chests inside each holding: an Antidote, 7340 Gil, 880 Gil, an Ice Brand, and a Flame Shield. Those last two items are practically mandatory for this dungeon, equip them now. Now go back to the fork and head South to a fork. The treasure room here only contains scraps of Gil, you can skip that. Head East to find 2000 Gil and a Cottage. Now go South and you'll find another treasure room. It holds 1250 Gil and a Staff. Head South to leave this level.

There are several items down here but only one worth grabbing. Go west into the treasure room and down to find a chest. Fight a Red Dragon and you'll receive the Flame Mail. This is extremely important. I'll repeat that: This is extremely important. Equip it now. Leave the room and head South to find the boss's chambers. Heal up and check the red orb. In floats Marilith - the only member of the Four Fiends I'd even consider doing, because she's the only one with boobs. "Those who oppose me will burn in hellfire!"

Boss Battle: Marilith
Image:Marilith psp.png
HP: 1440
Difficulty: Easy

Strategy:

We get one Medium boss and then "BOOM" we're back down in Easy fights. Marilith is by far the easiest of the Four Fiends. Her HP isn't much greater than Lich's and we've grown just that much stronger. Since she loves fires, "NulBlaze" at the very start. "Protera" because her physical attack is not to be fooled around with. If you've equipped all those Fire resistant armor I told you to grab this fight should be a breeze. "Blizzaga" should be your best friend here, it will tear her to pieces. "Haste" and "Temper" your physical units to make them at least effective. That Victory Fanfare should be playing soon enough.

With Marilith gone the Crystal of Fire will turn back on. Only two more to go, this is easier than I thought. Leave out the teleporter and return to the world map. Use a Tent if your team is really feeling faint and march back to Crescent Lake for some much needed rest.

[edit] Road to the Ice Cavern

Well we just beat Fire now we have to take Ice. Since this page is a tad bit too short I'll now give you directions to get there. First we're going to have to go back to our poor little Pirate Ship which I'm amazed nobody tried to steal. Sail North to the other dock that I told you skip earlier. From here you have three choices, head Northeast to Pravoka, North to the Evil Peninsula or West along the rivers. We're going West.

You can ignore the vast majority of these rivers just go North. Eventually the river will turn West and you're going to want to stay along its path. Don't go up either the North or South branch, and soon you'll find a patch of land in the middle of the mountains. Walk around and you will see the entrance to the cave. Enter and meet your destiny.
