Walkthrough:Final Fantasy/BlueHighwind/Part 3

From Final Fantasy Wiki

Yo Space Monkies, follow my lead for I am BlueHighwind, and I am the bastard son of 1000 psychos.

[edit] Matoya's Cave

Go East from the bridge and go North through some forests and past a river. Soon you'll find a small cave. I say we enter, so you Space Monkies better follow my lead. Inside you'll find pretty much nothing except an ugly old hag who goes by the handle Matoya, who has lost her eye. She doesn't even notice us, so lets relieve her of her valuables, shall we? Go to her chests to find two Potions and an Antidote.

There really isn't any reason to go here now, but I really like the music.

[edit] Pravoka

Now head East and watch out. The monsters around here are much stronger than the mild Cornelian variety. You may have the need to use that Tent you found in Garland's House of Pain. Don't feel shy to, you don't want to die horribly and then have to restart in Cornelia. Once you finally reach the sea town of Pravoka, be sure to Save before entering.

As you enter you'll find that the whole place has been taken over by a gang of scurvy sea dogs. Arrgh! So lets kick their ass.

HP: 24 (X9)
Difficulty: Easy

Strategy:

I wonder who would win in a fight? A Pirate or a Black Mage? Well I have the answer right here. These guys are jokes, their HP is more pitiful than the enemies outside. All they have is strength in numbers. But then again, 9 x 0 still equals 0. These guys may in fact be even easier than Garland, if that's possible. In fact, I think they might be his students in Lame Ass Boss Fights.

Well after slaughtering a band of ruthless pirate, they're fearless leader surrenders and gives up his ship. We now have freedom of the seas, prepare to explore. But first re-equip yourself at Pravoka's many goodie shops. Be sure to grab the spells "Ice", "Temper" and "NulShock" for your mages. "Temper" boosts attack and "Nulshock" weakens the power of Electric attacks. As always all status effect causing magic is a waste, don't buy it. This is the last time I'm going to remind you, so please try and remember. Stay at the inn and have pleasant dreams, for you have a busy day tommorow.

[edit] Elfheim

Come sail away, sea Space Monkies, I sure hope you're not landsmen because we're going to be spending quite a bit of time here. Strangely monsters can still attack while on the open sea, though they're all sea creatures and weak pirates exactly like what you just fought.

For now you're stuck in an inland sea known as the Aldean. Pretty much the only places to go here are Cornelia to the West (since we've already been there and done that lets skip it) and Elfheim on the opposite shore. Just sail South and stick to the coast until you find an abandoned port. From here walk across the land until you find a town.

Its Elfheim, the Elf homeland. I like to think of it as mini-Hyrule. Its a nice rest stop, and be sure to stay at the inn. If you enter the Weapons Shop be sure to keep any Monks you may have weapon-free, they do better unarmed. This town has four different Magic Shops, two for each color of magic. I'd advise buying the upgraded forms of the basic Black Magic spells: "Fira" and "Thundara". Your White Mage definitely needs "Cura", and "Heal". "Diara" is a waste of cash just like "Dia". Save the higher magic for when we return to this town.

Now go to the castle. Inside you'll find that the Elven monarchy is just as impotent as their royal cousins in Cornelia. The Prince has been poisoned by a Dark Elf by the name of Astos, who has also run off with the nation's treasury. Nobody knows how to heal the Prince, so we have to go and kill Astos for peace and love or something. Return to town and buy the necessary medicines for a long trek through the Marsh Cave. Be sure to get a good night's rest at the inn.

Fun Fact: Outside the inn you'll find a tombstone that says "Here lies Link", Link being the most badass Elf ever, and the hero of the Legend of Zelda series. I don't know which Link they're referring to, though, since the Zelda series has such bad chronology there are about twelve dozen of them.

[edit] Marsh Cave

First head though the Northwest exit of the area around Elfheim and head North to reach the Western Keep. Inside you'll find a King dude who wants a Crown, which just so happens to be in the Marsh Cave. Luckily we were on our way there anyway so lets go South, and West through a small pass between the mountain ranges. Follow the coastal plain until you reach a large hole in the ground. Save before entering the first true dungeon.

We find ourselves in an odd sort of fork in the road. North leads to some items, South to the treasure. Since we always go for treasure, we're going North. Go North along a winding path until you find the staircase going down. Now we're in a very large room, first go North and East a bit to find the first of three treasure rooms. Enter and open the chest to receive a Dagger. Now go West and through the openings to find the second room, inside there will be a chest containing another cache of 680 Gil. Now go West about two steps and South all the way to the bottom. Here is the final treasure room. Inside there's two chests containing 620 Gil, and a Broadsword. Now backtrack to the entrance. I advise that you return to Elfheim to restock your items and heal at the inn.

Back at the entrance of the Cave this time go South until you find a room containing a staircase. First go South until the bottom and then go East until you reach a room. Go through it to the other exit and then go down the stairs. Now you're in a massive room filled with no less than sixteen whole sub-rooms. First enter the room closest to you - inside there's a Phoenix Down. Now go all to way to the Northeastern-most room and grab the 295 Gil inside. Go down a row and West to the last two rooms in this row. Inside these rooms you'll find a Cottage and a Copper Armlet. Now go down a row and into the room second to the left. Here you'll find a chest containing the Crown but before you can take it three Piscodemons automatically attack. Kill them and grab your prize. Before leaving go East one room and open the chest to find 385 Gil. Go back to Elfheim and heal up.
