Walkthrough:Final Fantasy/BlueHighwind/Part 19
From Final Fantasy Wiki
Space Monkies, the final curtain has risen. The final act has begun. Welcome to the final battle. The fate the world rests in your hands guided by my eyes. I am BlueHighwind your guide, introducing myself for the final time during this walkthrough.
[edit] Chaos Shrine (Final Battle)
Well now that the Four Fiends of Chaos are defeated and all four dungeons of the Soul of Chaos are completed there is only one more thing left to do: defeat Chaos himself. Prepare yourself as well as would if you were going into a Soul of Chaos dungeon, in fact a little bit less than that would probably work out as well. If you've skipped six pages to come here and not fight the optional bosses from the others games then you will have a tough time of it. However you should have been following my advise this whole time. Just why are reading if you don't want to listen to me? I'm not that funny.
Anyway the very first floor is the exact same one we've seen in the past; its the same place that Garland was hanging back during his idiotic attempt to conquer Cornelia. Go into Garland's chamber and touch the Crystal to be warped back in time. Yes there is time travel in this game which is really stupid. Since we went back in time, shouldn't our time in the past already have affected the timeline of this world? However if our time in the past affects the timeline then we have no reason to go back into the past so we don't go back and the timeline isn't affected in the first place... fuck it. Time travel never makes goddamn sense.
Welcome to the first floor of the true Chaos Shrine. The enemies here will be much more difficult than anything you've faced in the normal game, but yet only on par with the Soul of Chaos hombres, you shouldn't have too much trouble in defeating the wild monsters. Head to the staircase in the Southeastern corner and go upstairs. God its nice to go up stairs instead of just down twenty or forty floors.
We won't spend much time on the second floor, just head directly East and go the stairs. In the third floor we want to go to the center room so the route is pretty simple. Go South, then East, and then up between the rows of columns. As soon as you enter the first of many boss fights will come at you, this one is just plain pathetic:

Strategy: Are you joking? Is that 360 HP? Really? I can't believe it Space Monkies, Chaos is expecting a team that took down all Four Fiends of FFI, and FFVI, Deathgaze, and the Superbosses Shinryu and Omega to be threatened by this little number which is just an obvious pallet swap of Evil Eye. And Evil Eye was never a threat himself. "Fira", battle over. You don't even need "Firaga" this fight is so damn easy.
After that open the Chests for a Dry Ether and an Elixir. Examine the stone slab in the center of the room. Somebody will start to play that Lute we receive a really long time ago for no understandable reason and amazingly that works! The slab is replaced by a ladder going down into the deep abyss. Go down.
We're now back on the Second Floor however now we can explore its full area. However there's nothing here except for the other staircase. Go South through the pillar rows and then West. From here head North to the Northwest corner to find the staircase down. Back on the ground floor, we're now in the back room. Head West to the other staircase also in the Northwest corner.
Now begins the trek into the dark depths of Chaos's evil dungeon from beyond the limits of human sanity. Follow the path North and head East. Pass the first path heading South that's lined with pillars. At the Northeastern corner begin to head South at the second path leading in that direction. Keep on going South and ignore the door, just head to the staircase in the Southeastern corner. Heal up and when you're ready go to the stairs for a reunion with an old friend:

Strategy: Ahh, Lich, Lich, Lich you had your big chance at the big prize but your time has past. Your old news Lich, had it, finished, forgotten and left behind. Lich's HP may have improved slightly but we've taken down bosses with fifteen times the health of this guy. He does have a really nasty repertoire of moves: "Warp", "Stop", "Kill", and even "Flare". However his "Flare" is pathetic compared to Shinryu's perfect casting and he'll be dead long before you gets a chance to use any of those spells twice. Unload on his ass and finish him off with ease.
Now go down the stairs, unless you really like fighting Lich then don't take a step back and try to go down the stairs again. We're now in B2 and I'm still waiting for the fun to begin. In B2 just so happens to be a really strange level. Even though the staircase to B3 is right there we first have to go all the way North into the big room to reach it. Ignore all the other doors except the Eastern one that leads to the Eastern side of the room that we were just in. Head back West in the path between the columns to see that stairs. From here you can just go down to B3 but first we have some Treasure hunting to do.
Head South, from here there are two doors each lead to two chests. First lets take the West one. The first chest is right there in front of you, it holds a Protect Ring. Now leave via the Southeastern most door. The path from here is totally linear leading you to another Treasure Room holding a Sasuke's Blade. Now backtrack to the two doors and head East this time. The first chest right in front of you holds a Protect Cloak. Now go the Southwest to find a long thin passage leading to the other door. Just head West to the Treasure Room which holds a Megalixer. If you wasted your supply of those things back in the Omega and Shinryu fights this one will make a perfect replacement. Backtrack to the Western stairs and go down them. However before we can see B3, another old friend has come back to visit:

Strategy: I always thought that Marilith was the easiest of the Four Fiends, and this time is really no different. We've just outgrown these guys, its like giving up your favorite T-Rex toy because now you're a teenager and too old for this baby shit (but I miss my T-Rex WHAAA!!). Same strategy as before, really no different at all. Be sure to use "NulBlaze" and pound away at her with "Blizzaga". Pitiful.
B3 can be a real pain in the ass to navigate through. You want to get to the Southeastern corner but about six different barriers are blocking your way. First enter the room to go around the wall of pillars. Now go South through an open wall of pillars and head West into a big room. Go all the way South and leave out the other exit. Now head North and enter another door in another room. Head East and leave through the next door you see. Head all the way South and go East. Once again we have a resurrected Fiend to defeat:

Strategy: The Fourth man in this parade of easy bosses is everybody's favorite Cthulhu impersonator: Kraken. He is a carbon copy of the old version, just with slightly more HP and slightly more attacking power. Nothing a sprinkle of "Protera" can't fix. Same strategy as before, I think the Fiends are actually getting easier as we continue down into the Chaos Shrine.
The next floor actually has an extremely important Treasure. This is unfortunate because the road to the final floor is just to the West of your starting point. First head South through the narrow passage and go East through another narrow passage. Go to the Southeast corner of the area. You'll see a little zig-zag path that leads to a humble Treasure room with a humble Chest. However the sword inside is not so humble - its Sephiroth's sword, the Masamune! This weapon can be equipped on anyone to turn them into physical attack beasts, even your White Mage can hit hard with this thing. If you really love this weapon then use an Emergency Exit or "Teleport" out of here so that you can save your game on the outside. But you will have to repeat this whole dungeon over again, keep that in mind.
With that done go back to the starting position and head West through a narrow passage. The stairway is in the Northeast corner of this room - however first we have one last friend to see:

Strategy: Its the same strategy for this battle as before. In fact since I'm feeling a bit lazy, I'll just copy and paste the old strategy:
| |||||||||||||||||
The final floor has no enemies. No monster is badass enough to even be on the same floor as the great King of Darkness. Just head South and enter the Boss's Chamber in the middle of the floor. Inside you'll find Garland(?). What the hell is the easiest boss in the whole game (other than that weak band of Pirates) doing here? I killed your ass back on Page 2! The demon tells us this "2000 years from now you killed me." (If its the future shouldn't it be "you will kill me"?) "Oh you did defeat me then, but the Four Great Forces saved me by sending me back through time! Once here I sent the Four Fiends into the future...where they shall once again use the Four Great Forces to send me back to the past!" Umm what? Garland is totally fucking insane! He's daffy dude, cookoo, nuts, mad, crazy, and a little off balance. That story made no sense at all! How could the Four Fiends send Garland into the past if he is the one who sent them into the future? The timeline doesn't fit at all! ARRGH! Somebody help me figure this out! Oh well, it doesn't change anything. Let kill that time warping freak.

Strategy: I know that particular sprite all too well. Twice its appeared on my Talk Page to tell me that I've been banned for being a "bad little boy". So I have more some serious beef with that Chaos guy. As for the battle itself use "Protera" and "NulAll" instantly. Have your Black Mage use "Haste" on the whole team and "Temper" your Ninjas, Masters, and Knights. Chaos has pretty much every spell in the game however each time I face him he sees to favor one particular element. Be sure to the right "Nul" spell for whatever element that is. Chaos has a lot of HP however this fight always seems to go faster than you think it will. He's tougher than the other bosses here but that's still not saying much. If you've beaten Omega and Shinryu then you should start to laugh your ass off at how easy this guy is compared to those two mackdaddies. After a while the fight should be yours the big bad guy will dissolve into nothingness like every other Final Boss.
I still don't know where those Final Bosses go when they disolve into nothingness. Perhaps they all just hang in a hotel lobby down in Hell. I bet Sephiroth is nailing the Cloud of Darkness down there.
With Chaos dead the time warp thing is finally severed. Now a new era of peace and prosperity can descend upon the land. However since the whole problem was a time loophole thing all the good work we've done all game has been totally forgotten by the people. So we saved their asses and we get nothing in the end? Fuck. Well since our team is now the most powerful beings on the whole planet they can now rule over the world in an oppressive empire in an autocratic regime of terror. But it will be the autocratic regime of Light.
Anyway with that the game is now yours. You can just add it on to your list of games that you have beaten. Its been fun Space Monkies however this where the road ends for us. This is BlueHighwind signing off.
