Walkthrough:Final Fantasy/BlueHighwind/Part 17
From Final Fantasy Wiki
Born with sin, come on in, Space Monkies. Sometimes I, BlueHighwind look up at the sky and wonder why we consider tiny insignifgant selfs on our tiny insignifigant speck of dust called Earth to be so damn important. But then I go see whats on the TV. Best such thoughts be kept out of mind so that I can consume some more bullshit without care... or thought.

[edit] Whisperwind Cove (still continued)
Damn I don't think I will ever finish this damn thing. The Cove just seems to go on forever and ever. Well at least we've finally reached the end.
[edit] Floor 10 Boss
Four monsters have migrated out of Final Fantasy VI to destroy our gallant Light Warriors, the first of the group is:

|
Strategy: Finally I get to kill Typhon - I've been wanting to do this for a long time. Back in FFVI he managed to get away from me, but this time he won't be so lucky. He's going to pay for all the times he kicked me out of the Dragon's Neck Coliseum. Typhon has pitiful defense and is nothing really special. But he does have one extremely annoying attack: "Snort". Instead of kicking your allies out of the ring, it instantly KO's them. Your journey can end real fast if your White Wizard get hit with that move. "Full-Life" is a must in this battle. Kick his ass to get revenge for all those times he stole your items back in the Dragon's Neck Colosseum. Plus we get a Genji Helm, the word "Genji" is always awesome in any game.
[edit] Floor 20 Boss
Now that Typhon is gone, his dear friend Ultros is here to save him. I hate that prick more than Typhon - I fought him four times in FFVI and he still wouldn't die. He's like Gilgamesh, only entirely not funny or cool in any way. Well that's going to change right here:

| |||||||||||||||||
|
Strategy: The game calls him "Orthos" but I'm using the version I played FFVI with: "Ultros". This is by far the weakest boss in all of the Soul of Chaos. All the octopus has is a physical attack and "Ink". He is completely impotent with just the use of "Protera" on your team. "Ink" can cause Darkness, but with a few Eye Drops that won't be a problem. Finally the great Ultros falls. I guess he didn't have more lives than arms. We get the Rune Staff for winning.
[edit] Floor 30 Boss

| |||||||||||||||||
|
Strategy: Sorry Space Monkies, but we can't kill him in just one hit this time. Thanks to the game mechanics we can't kill this undead enemy with just a Phoenix Down anymore. No matter, his HP is still pitiful. The Train is a physical brute with just "Ram" and "Acid Rain". "Ram" hits a character hard with, and "Acid Rain" targets everybody. But with "Protera", "Ram" does nothing and "Acid Rain" can easily be healed. Take the Train down and save Cyan's family from the afterlife. For this fight we get a Megalixer.
[edit] Floor 40 Boss
And the final Boss of this dungeon is... Kefka! No, that would have been awesome, instead its just this guy:
| |||||||||||||||||
| |||||||||||||||||
|
Strategy: Deathgaze was just an overblown showoff in FFVI and nothing has changed. He has a lot of HP and high stats all around, but his strength is purely in numbers. Deathgaze lacks any really interesting attack and really only has a physical punch. Unfortunately for him, that doesn't mean that the strategy we've been using since back with Lich needs to change at all. Just do what you do best, by now you don't need me to remind you. Deathgaze will fall but unfortunately you don't get a Bahamut Magicite for winning. But we do get a Lightbringer.
Right next to our fallen foe is a chest. Within that chest lies the Ultima Weapon! Equip that immediatly - your Knight should hit for about a 1000 HP even without any "Haste" or "Temper" with that wonderful blade. Well with that ends the fun of the Whisperwind Cove. Now begins the hell of the Lifespring Grotto.
[edit] Lifespring Grotto
So you've beaten the Hellfire Chasm, the Earthgift Shrine, and even the Whisperwind Cove and you're feeling kinda hot right now, aren't you? Well the Grotto, despite its tranquil perhaps even calming name will shut you up real fast. At the end of this journey lies Omega and Shinryu - the Superbosses from Final Fantasy V and by far the most difficult bosses in this game. Even Chaos himself is mere rodent to these Gods of Darkness. Enter this dungeon at any level under fifty and they will swallow your head whole and spit it out their ass.
The Grotto has half the levels of Whisperwind Cove with only twenty, but still you have to go through here twice to fight both of the Superbosses. Even so it means that the chart I have to make is here is only half the length as that pain in the ass I wrote two pages ago:

| B20 | BOSS BATTLE |
Wow, no matter how many times you make a giant table, it never gets any easier. I do hope you're appreciating all that I'm putting into this for you, Space Monkies.
Once again the possibility for each floor is totally random. There probably is some kind of program that determines it, but I'm not spending any more of my life hanging down in this God-forsaken dungeon. For the final time the levels are listed in no order:
[edit] Ice Cave
Just like the six separate levels that you remember from the Whisperwind Grotto this cave contains a lot of Ice Spikes that can take away some HP from your party. But it shouldn't be anything you can't handle at your high level. The exit is towards the center of the floor.
Treasure Locations:
- 1. Northwest Treasure Room
- 2. Southwest Treasure Room
- 3. Western wall in a bed of spikes
[edit] Rocky Road
This area is covered in pillars that make navigating this area rather difficult. You can't just walk to the exit in the Southern wall you have to go all around the level along the outer wall just to reach it. Annoying, to say the least.
Treasure Locations:
- 1. Northwest corner of the main center chamber
- 2. Southeast portion of the pillar wall
- 3.4. Treasure Room in the Southwest portion of the level, you'll pass it on your way out of here
- 5. Southeast corner just before the exit
[edit] Sunken Shrine 1
Hey we are underwater - it only makes sense that it would be a little wet down here. There are a lot of rooms here but most don't contain jack shit. The exit is in the Southeast corner by a huge gaping hole in the floor.
Treasure Locations:
- 1. In one of the middle rooms, I forgot just which one
- 2.3.4. Room in the Northwest corner
[edit] Sunken Shrine 2
There are much less rooms here than in the first Sunken Shrine floor. That's really the only way to tell them apart. The exit is in the Southeast corner.
Treasure Locations:
- 1. In the North on a jut of land
- 2. In the Eastern side of the floor towards the middle is a Treasure Room
- 3. Directly west of #2. is another Treasure Room
- 4. The Room right before the exit
[edit] Sunken Shrine 3
This level has a lot of shit or dirt on the walls so it kinda looks like a true dungeon. There are some Treasure Rooms here. But if you must ignore them and leave, head all the way South, then West then North to the stairs.
Treasure Locations:
- 1.2. Northwest corner right next to where you spawned
- 3.4. Treasure Room in the Southern portion of the level
[edit] Sunken Shrine 4
This level is annoying to describe since I'm not really sure how it works myself. There is a lot of open water here and many dead end paths. The exit is somewhere around the middle towards the South.
Treasure Locations:
- 1. The only Chest not in a Room, however still hard to reach come at it from the West
- 2. Just North of #1. in a Treasure Room
- 3. Along the Southern border in a Treasure Room
[edit] Sunken Shrine 5
I usually spawn right next to the exit in this area. However if you don't know these things. It has brownish walls that are very close to the pathways. The exit is in the Northwest.
Treasure Locations:
- 1. In the center of the level towards the East
- 2. Treasure Room in the Southeast corner
- 3. Treasure Room in the Southwest corner
[edit] Sunken Shrine 6
This is the last of the many undersea levels, and man am I glad to be rid of these damn things. I'm not sure exactly how its different from the other versions but at least I can say there are quite a few giant rooms here. The stairs are in the Northwest corner.
Treasure Locations:
- 1. Treasure Room in the Southwestern corner
- 2. Treasure Room in the Southeastern corner
- 3. Treasure Room in the Northeastern corner
[edit] Pillar Room of DOOM!!
I fucking hate this room, thus explained the "of DOOM!!" in the title. There are a shit load of pillars here obviously and it makes getting around here a real bitch. Forget the damn chests just leave this place as fast as you can, its so easy to get lost in here. The exit is in the Northeastern corner.
Treasure Locations:
- 1. Somewhat around the Southeast
- 2. Somewhat around the Northwest outside an empty Room
- 3.4. Treasure Room in the Southeaster corner
- 5. Around the exit, but it requires you to go out of your way to the South to reach it
[edit] Regular Pillar Room
There aren't nearly as many pillars here as its evil brother that I just described. The exit is in the Southeastern corner through a narrow corridor.
Treasure Locations:
- 1. Northeast portion of the area in a corridor by a Room
- 2. Southwestern portion of the level in a dead end
- 3. Northwest corner
- 4. Along the North wall, you have to come in from the North
