Walkthrough:Final Fantasy/BlueHighwind/Part 13

From Final Fantasy Wiki

Space Monkies, I BlueHighwind your guide once made a grave error in this page. I foolishly handed over the reigns to this walkthrough slay to a man of lesser skills than my own. Hex had the gift but just lacked the spirit, you know what I'm talking about? I don't. Whatever, I have recognized this great blunder and now have returned to lead this shit to fucking ends of the fucking game. Enjoy:

[edit] Dwarve's Cave (Again)

Remeber this place? It sure has been quite a while since we took a nice visit to this area. Personally I felt that my life was entirely complete without ever needing to return here but I was sadly mistaken. The best sword in the whole game lies in this location. You want that blade. I'll say it again: you want that blade.

Go to the Northwest room that holds a Blacksmith dude I'll call Smithy. Then your character will slam that Admantite we found earlier on the table much to overwhelming amazement of Smithy. The dwarf goes on and on about how kickass the sword he's going to make this this stuff will be. Well put up or shut up, Smithy. With that he hands over Excalibur - finest sword in the land and the symbol of the true king of Camelot. Give it to your Knight.

[edit] Earthgift Shrine

The first of the four secret Soul of Chaos is located to the Northwest of Cornelia in some mountains on the road to Garland's humble abode. The Soul of Chaos is very different from the previous dungeons we've traveled through in the past - its actually quite confusing. First off there is no set floor plan; any location can appear at any level. Plus say you get the "Desert" as the first floor, then the chests you find at that location are very different from those you might find at say the third floor. In fact no two runthroughs are the same for any optional dungeon.

Needless to say this makes my job as a walkthrough writer much more difficult. I can't just say "go to the Eastern treasure room for a Potion" because probability states that you most likely won't find a Potion there. Rather you may find a Silver Apple or a Masamune. So for that reason I have to make a chart to show the locations of all the possible items:

Floor Possible Items
B1 Hi-Potion, Spider's Silk, White Curtain, Remedy
B2 Vampire Fang, Blue Curtain, White Fang, Kenpogi
B3 Potion, Speed Drink, Protect Drink, Black Cowl
B4 Ether, Red Fang, Silver Apple, Elven Cloak
B5 BOSS LEVEL

Even with that info, you should know that its extremely unlikely that you'll find all these items on the very first run through. It will take you several treks through the Earthgift Shrine to "catch 'em all". Luckily the way this dungeon is designed you're going to have to march through here four seperate times. You can only take down a single boss in a single invasion. It gets annoying very fucking quickly. Okay so now I'll list each of the floors you may run into in no particular order:

[edit] Shifting Sand Land

What the fuck is a whole desert doing underground? Welcome to the harsh desert, Lawrence of the Space Monkies. Like Fourth Floor of the Flying Fortress, this floor goes off into infinity forever and ever. You can literally walk in one direction until the end of days and you'll still not be any closer to the exit. The secret is to find a group of palm trees arranged in a point. Whichever way the trees are pointing follow in a completely straight line. Eventually you'll find your way to the stairs which are right next to a pretty oasis.

Chest locations:

1. Directly North of the oasis there is an arrangement of six trees pointing East and West. In the center you'll find your chest.
2 Directly South of the oasis there are three trees pointing North, you'll probably find this chest on your way out of here.
3. From the staircase go down two steps, then walk all the way East until you find the chest in a little grove.

[edit] Cave 1

Now this is a nice and normal cave. Just head North and the linear path will lead right to the stairs.

Chest locations:

1. Along the way North on the Eastern side of the room
2. Along the way North, right next to 1.

[edit] Cave 2

Cave 2 is of the same general feeling as its brother, Cave 1. Perhaps they were designed by the same interior decorator? Okay the big secret here is that the stairway is in the Northwest corner. Be sure to grab the chests before leaving though.

Chest locations:

1. In the Southeast corner along a hallway
2. In the Southwest corner along a hallway
3. Right in the middle of the main room

[edit] Purple Forest

Wow, a Desert and a pink forest all in the same cave? For once I actually can do some walkthroughing instead of just listing the chest locations in a really ugly manner. First off this place is really huge, you may think that the stairs are just around the corner because you can see them already, but don't be fooled. There is a long trek we have in front of us.

In front of you there is a soldier guy blocking our way. How you get him to move? Kill him, that's how. These soldiers are actually enemies that you're going to have to fight along with the normal random encounter guys we're so well acquainted with. The secret to getting through this area is simply to take the route that seems the longest to you. Always stick to the far end of the map, and take a massive circley route around the entire map. No matter what never head into the interior of the forest or you'll find yourself at a dead end.

There is only one exception to this rule: the Northeast corner. Here is just a deadend but at least it holds a Treasure Chest. Other than that follow my guidance and eventually you'll be through the final floor of this dungeon.

[edit] Boss Battle Time

The last floor contains four Boss Rooms. Each one holds a single boss from the original Final Fantasy III. You could probably complete this dungeon back after you just beat Lich, but these bosses are very hard so you have to wait a long time.

Note: you can only kill one of these guys through runthrough. Remember that, you have to beat this dungeon four seperate times to get everything. Here they are in some kind of order:

Optional Boss Battle: Enchidna
Image:Echidna psp.gif
HP: 4800
Difficulty: Medium

Strategy:

Eww, what is this thing? The last thing I want from my video games is the image of Grandma in the shower.

Possibly the easiest, although there are no weaknesses to exploit. First off the big secret to this boss is to equip Protect Rings so that his "Death" and "Earthquake" attacks are rendered totally useless. just "Haste" your knight and you've won. You don't need to use anything other than physical attacks.

Optional Boss Battle: Cerberus
Image:Cerberus psp.gif
HP: 4000
Difficulty: Medium

Strategy:

Use "NulShock" or "NulAll" which will weaken his "Thunderbolt" attack. Cerberus seems to have only that one single attack and its still quite a doozy. It shouldn't be so bad after all the leveling you've enjoyed since we took down Tiamat. Cerberus has no weaknesses either. You'll recieve a Kotesu for winning.

Optional Boss Battle: 2-Headed Dragon
Image:2-Headed Dragon-PSP.gif
HP: 4500
Difficulty: Easy

Strategy:

The 2-Headed Dragon only has a physical attack. It hurts, but with a single "Protecta" your team should already have the advantage. This is the simplest fight in the whole Shrine. Frankly I'm disappointed. And I'm offended.

Optional Boss Battle: Ahriman
Image:Ahriman PSP.gif
HP: 5000
Difficulty: Hard

Strategy:

This is by far the worst boss in this shrine. Its strange that the hardest boss would follow the easiest. "Earthquake" is his worst attack and it can kill instantly, watch out for that. Protect Rings should give some kind of protection. Also be sure to use "NulBlaze" to nullify his signature attack "Blaze". All you need to do is keep up your defences and eventually this guy will go down. His HP is thankfully rather low.

Walk into a portal and escape from the dungeon. Congratulations you have just beaten the first optional dungeon! Three more to go.
