Sunken Shrine (Continued)[]

Welcome to the very top of the Sunken Shrine and luckily the forces of evil haven't gotten this far yet. Yup there are no enemies up here, so take a breather and run around collecting what you're going to need. Most of the rooms are just filled with Mermaid NPCs who, no matter how many times you talk to them, will never touch your penis. Just go into the rooms I tell you about. Head directly North and enter the very first room to find: 1760 Gil, 9000 Gil, and a Diamond Armlet. Go West, North, then East to avoid the cracks in the ground. Enter the room second from the left to find 2750 Gil. Now go Southeast to find a room with a Mermaid and a chest. Inside the chest is 4150 Gil.

Go one room East to find 5000 Gil. Now go South then East then South again to find a Treasure Room. Resting within is a Diamond Shield. Go North then West then North two rows to find another Treasure Room. This one contains 10000 and 10 Gil. Weird juxtaposition. Head all the way to the Northwest corner of this room, and head West along the thin path. Go South as soon as you can. Enter the first Treasure Room to find Diamond Gloves and a Diamond Helm which finishes out our collection of Diamond Armor. The other chest contains a Rosetta Stone, which thanks to the little victory noise must be a Key Item. Now Teleport out of here.

Back in Onrac be sure to stay at the inn. Be sure restock your supply of Potions and the works. Go back into the Sunken Shrine - this time we're taking that Kraken down!

Go North until you reach the very first fork, and go West. Head North until you find a Treasure Room with a 9900 Gil. Now go North until you find stairs leading down into the dark depths of the Shrine. Go West then North all the way to find some stairs in the corner. Now go to the next set of stairs that are right in front of you. Now that we're almost at the top of this shrine, we have to go around the empty room and down the stairs. Enter the room and grab the 110 and 450 Gil. Now exit through the other door and go down.

Now that we're done with the long complicated path up and down the dungeon, we only have two floors left. Go west into the intersection and turn left to go South. You'll see a Treasure Room within which is 7690 Gil and 8135 Gil. Now go all the way West until you find another Treasure Room. Here you'll find 385 Gil, 5450 Gil, and a Giant's Glove. Go North until you reach another room. This one holds a Light Axe. Go East to find 2750 Gil, 9900 Gil, 7340 Gil, and a Ribbon - the best Treasure Room on this whole floor. Now head North then West to find the stairs to the final floor.

Like most final floors, this one does not contain any treasure of any kind. Shit. Go West and then North. Now go South to enter a giant room. Navigate around until you find another exit in the Northwest corner. Now all that's needed is make a little trip North and you've found the big bad monster.

"Hmph, you humans do impress... I would not have thought to find you here. But do you really think you can defeat the Fiend of Water here in my own domain?" Well, yeah. "Fools! These dark depths shall be your tomb!"

I'm not really sure how to respond to a verbal thrashing like that. So when words fail, let your fists do the talking, particularly your Monk's fists.

Boss Battle: Kraken
Kraken psp
HP: 1800
Difficulty: Medium

Strategy:

I get the tentacles, and I get the fangs, but what's with the ascot?

Okay, seriously this guy is no pushover. His HP is the highest we've seen so far and he's one hard puncher when it comes to physical attacks. His worst attack is "Ink" which, if you're unlucky, might Blind your attackers. Be sure to fix that as soon as possible. "Protera" is a must. As always "Haste" and "Temper" your physical attackers. Physical attacks work well, but "Thundaga" just brings down the house. If your White Mage doesn't have anyone to heal, sprinkle "Holy" for that extra spice which really makes for a perfect Thanksgiving dinner of asskicking. Soon enough, Kraken will be dissolving.

Three fiends down, only one to go. Too bad the last is the hardest. Light up the Crystal and the Lifespring Grotto will open up. Leave this dungeon via the Telepod in the back of the room.

Lufenia[]

Return to our Airship and fly back to Melmond, it's just as shitty as before. "What are we doing back here?" you might ask. Well shut up and let me guide. Go up to Northern part of town and talk to the NPCs until one reveals himself to be a certain Dr. Unne. This guy has spent the entirety of his life that wasn't spent fighting Vampires learning the Lufenian Language. Strange since Lufenia is hundreds of miles away and there's no way anyone could get there without an Airship. Dr. Unne will read over the Rosetta Stone and instantly become fluent in Lufenian. Then he'll teach us how to be able to completely read, write and speak Lufenian. Strange I've spent five years studying Spanish - and I still suck at it.

Now fly to the town by which I got the title of this section from. It's located on that long forested peninsula South of Gaia. There's no Inn or Item Shop here, nor any kind of Armor or Weapons. But if you go to Northeastern part of town and head directly East you'll find a Magic Shop. Here you'll find the best Black Magic and White Magic spells in the game: "Flare" and "Full-Life". "Flare" is the ultimate offensive spell - but only because there's no "Ultima" here. "Full-Life" will fully revive a fallen character to full health. It can easily mean the difference between life and death. Now head to the Eastern platform and talk to the NPCs until one hands you a Chime. You're going to need that Key Item if you ever want to grab the Air Crystal.

Now go back to your Airship and heal up at any cheap inn. Now fly to the massive desert Southwest of Gaia. Land in the patch of grass in Southeastern part of the desert then walk to the direct center to find a large tower. Save and prepare to enter the domain of the final member of the Four Fiends.
