Greetings! The following are full details of the Monster Village in Chocolancer's Chocobo's Dungeon 2 walkthrough.

Tour[]

Note that as the game progresses from here and you run some errands from the villagers, the buildings will change appearance, and the village theme will change as well.

Shore[]

Shore2

You can return to the shore through the village. A special event happens here, which can only happen with specific criteria.

Drifting Treasure Chest[]

If by any chance you get knocked out in the dungeon one too many times, you can choose to talk to Mog so he can give you replacement items. For this event to work however, you have to go to shore without any items to pick up the chest that appears there. If you do this enough times, a Sylph will appear to commend your frequent visits. She'll then offer you a feather to summon her.

Shiroma's House[]

Shiromahouse

You can catch Shiroma here multiple times throughout the game. Her bed can be used as a save point. If you talk to her, she'll explain why her adopted aunt did what she did. She explains that for some reason the appearance of the dungeon near the village caused the monsters in the village to doubt humans, which was why she ventured into it in the first place.

Later on, you'll see her making a doll. It'll be there in the entire game until you beat it.

Mom Bomb's House[]

Bombhouse

Your primary spawn point when you pass out at a dungeon. Mog will be here, as well as the Bomb you saw and her kids. The bed can be used as a save point. If you have no items in your storage and you passed out, Mog can give you a new set of the following:

  • a Potion/Hi-Potion/X-Potion
  • a Wood Claw/Iron Claw/Mythril Claw
  • a Teleport Tag
  • a Map Card
  • a Memory Tag

If you pass out too many times at a certain point, Mog will stop giving you any more items, so it's a good idea to collect your own and use your storage box frequently.

Once you clear the game, the second floor of the house will host a random monster staff room similar to the one in Final Fantasy IV. You'll have to go in and out multiple times to see all of them.

Gamedon's Storage[]

Gamedonshop

A turtle named Gamedon can offer you storage here for your items. He'll also offer you a free increase, as well as a claw/saddle repair service when you do him a special favour...

Chip the Hamster[]

For this event to work, you should have enough Gil to buy storage from Gamedon. At this point, you should also be able to enter the shortcut route in Chubby Chocobo's shop (which happens when you're farther into your current dungeon). Get two Teleport Tags and enter. As soon as you get into a shortcut, you see a lost hamster. He'll get excited to see you and asks if you can give him a tag. He'll port out, at which point you should as well. When you get back to Gamedon's shop, he'll thank you for saving Chip and will double your storage for free. He'll also offer to repair a claw or saddle once per visit for 1500 Gil. Also, Chip can boost your storage for high amounts of Gil. The first boost, at 3000 Gil, will give the shop a makeover in your next visit and a 500 Gil increase in the repair shop.

Statues[]

Benstatue

There are two statues in the village, but the first one you will see is a half-finished Titan statue. You can catch a behemoth sculpter named Ben here whom you can help out to get some nifty stuff.

Titan[]

Approach the half-finished Titan statue and talk to Ben. He'll ask you if something's missing. Tell him it's missing an Earthy Smell. He'll think about it and the next time you return to the village, he'll ask you for a Quake Book. Take one more dungeon run and back, the statue will collapse and a Titan will come out and thank both the behemoth and Chocobo for freeing him. You can now get a feather to summon Titan by your side. For summoning questions, check the Gameplay section of the walkthrough.

Asura[]

Le Tonberry Bistro[]

Letonberrybistro

At Le Tonberry Bistro, you'll see a Drunk Malboro causing trouble. You need at least 7 Thunder Books to pull this off. When the Malboro goes off and sobs its eyes out, it asks you to zap him with as many Thunder books as you can. When you use up seven of them, he'll turn into Ramuh. Apparently, he stepped into a Morph Trap and turned into a monster, but didn't change back for some reason. For your help, he gives you his summon feather.

The next time you come in, the place is much neater and there's a Cockney-speaking goblin couple. Gobly is really bad at dating, and Gobbie expects too much of Gobly. After one walk-out too many, Gobly needs to give Gobbie a present. He'll buy whatever stone is in your inventory for 500 Gil (cheapass). On your next visit, it doesn't work out and Gobbie thinks it's ugly. The Chef thinks maybe a dish with a special sauce would work. Grab an Octopus Essence from an Octopus in the Sea Floor Dungeon or a Worm in your trek to Snow Mountain and hand it over to the guy. On your next visit, Gobbie'll go gaga over the food and beg le Tonberry to work at his restaurant. The plan backfired. The next time you check out the bistro, Gobbie will be serving as a waitress, with Gobly staring and envying. Also, a Juice Bar will open up in the basement.

Tree of Life[]

Treeoflife

You can offer feathers you have obtained to the tree in order to help it grow. In return, the two Golem you see here will offer you a number of rare nuts and seeds in return. I don't recommend sacrificing feathers for nuts.

Black Magic Research Facility[]

Bmagicresearch

If you help out the Black Magicians working in here, they'll offer you some conveniences for a small fee. The Head Mage that you see here will offer you feathers as the game progresses. There will also be a bestiary statue hall in the basement when you complete Cid's Tower for the first time.

Head Mage's Test Subject[]

When you enter the Black Magic Research Facility, talk to the Head Mage. He'll ask you to be his test subject, with which you'd have to say yes to get the stuff. He'll ask you what <insert object here> looks like. To Chocobo, it looks like a feather. This is basically an introduction to using feathers, which is fully explained in the the Gameplay section. He'll give you a choice of feather to use for your regular books, which is really really useful if you ever find yourself in a bind with multiple monsters and want to use an area attack to eliminate multiple targets. Fireball attacks in a small area around Chocobo, Blizzard Storm hits a triangle area in front, and Thunder Cross hits a "plus" or "X" area around you. Choose wisely. When you return with a Cantrip Book on hand, he'll give you the next set of feathers to choose for them. All are multiple target attacks and are stat-inducing spells. If by any chance you get a Spell Book, he'll also give you the next set to choose as well, which are higher level magics such as Gravity and Flare.

Stove Malfunction[]

This event will only activate if you're already talked to the Head Mage. Anyways, Biggs is complaining that he couldn't get a stove to work. He'll ask for a Fire or Thunder Book if you have either. He'll cast it on himself and find out what he was doing wrong. He'll give you an offer of either a Quake All or an Aero All feather. I recommend Quake, but it's up to you. On the next visit you can now use the stove for 300 Gil a pop.

Dispel Tonics[]

If you talk to Jessie, she'll ask you for some essence to finish her potion. She'll tell you how to get essences, which is simple: kill a monster with a bottle. Just kick a bottle when the monster is dying. Then give her whichever essence you got and she'll give you a Dispel Tonic drink for 100 Gil. You can't have it to-go, tough.

Ben's House[]

Benhouse

It's a mess, but the house works in tandem with the statue. If you help out Ben, he'll in turn help fix up the house. You don't get anything from it though, but the event involving the second statue won't happen unless you help out with the house event.

Cleaning Up[]

When you helped out Ben with the Titan statue, you can go to their house on the next visit. You'll see Ben and Baby Mo trying to clean up the rubble, but aren't making progress. If you have a Crash Stone or a Nitro in your inventory, you can give it to Ben and they'll clean up in the next visit. Ben's wife will come back and all will go well. Ben will go to take care of the new statue in the village.

Chubby Chocobo's Shop[]

Chubbyshop

Finally, this is the building you'll be going into the most. You can buy some useful stuff from the fat bird for Gil, which you'll get in the upcoming dungeon. Also, there's a shortcut dungeon you can access from here which can take you 5 levels up the main focus dungeon as you progress.
