Final Fantasy Record KeeperEdit

FFRK

FFRK Wakka Sprite
A young man who, together with his childhood friend Lulu, joins Yuna's traveling party as her guardian. A blitzball player and coach, Wakka has a ready smile and a caring disposition.
—Character Profile

Wakka appears as a recruitable character. He is unlocked in Besaid on Classic in the storyline of Final Fantasy X as the First Time Reward.

Assessment

Wakka is a Guardian whose combat role is Physical Support.

Wakka has one of the highest opening Accuracy scores, yet his stats are considered as low to average. He is as good a Ranger unit as a player is likely to get early on. Bows, blitzballs, and thrown weapons are comparatively rare unlike weapons like swords and lances; and as such, Wakka could be stuck wielding a dagger on the front line until one of these weapons appears. He can still make an impact with a dagger in hand, provided he has enough defense to survive the tougher battles that the party will face. One notable thing about Wakka is his surprisingly high Mind stat for a support despite having no access to White Magic or related ability schools, exceeding even Paladins like Cecil and Warrior of Light, which will help shorten the duration of status effects from the enemy, themselves a commonplace occurrence as the game continues to evolve.

Story
3★ - No. 0527: "A young man who appears in the tales of another world where its people are trapped in a spiral of death. Wakka is an avid blitzball player, and the optimistic captain and coach of the ill-fated Besaid Aurochs. He has known Lulu since childhood, and considers Yuna to be a part of his own family. When Tidus suddenly washes ashore the island of Besaid, Wakka can't help but see his deceased brother Chappu in the young man, and takes him under his wing. Not only that, but he also gifts Tidus with the sword that was once his younger brother's."
4★ - No. 0528: "A young man who appears in the tales of another world where its people are trapped in a spiral of death. Although Wakka was a passionate blitzball player, he decided to retire from the sport after his last tournament in Luca to join the summoner Yuna on her pilgrimage to defeat Sin. A positive and cheerful individual by nature, he may also intentionally avoid things that trouble him from time to time. This includes his strong dislike for the Al Bhed, who use machina as part of their lifestyle."
5★ - No. 0529: "A young man who appears in the tales of another world where its people are trapped in a spiral of death. Wakka is a former blitzball player who now uses the techniques he learned for the sport against his enemies by throwing his ball at them. A devoted follower of the teachings of Yevon, he strongly objects to those who use machina, particularly the Al Bhed. However, he gradually learns that Yevon itself does not follow the teachings it preaches, leading the Al Bhed to protect summoners from the very Yevon he reveres. This eye-opening experience results in change of heart for Wakka."

Guest appearancesEdit

Kingdom HeartsEdit

KhWakka

Wakka plays a minor role in the Kingdom Hearts series. Together with Riku, Tidus and Selphie, he spends his days playing on the Destiny Islands and sparring with Sora. He is skilled with a ball, and together with Tidus, he is inventing an "underwater ball sport". When Sora, Riku, and Kairi leave the island, Wakka, Tidus, and Selphie are left behind.

Wakka reprises his role in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories albeit as a memory fragment. He is briefly mentioned in Kingdom Hearts II by Selphie, commenting to Kairi that "Tidus and Wakka are all wrapped up in their ball game" when asking her to go to the smaller island with her.

Wakka makes an appearance in Kingdom Hearts χ [chi] as one of the obtainable character cards. He appears in the remake, Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross], on several medals.
