FFVIII W-Item

Dummied command from the Final Fantasy VIII PlayStation demo.

W-Item (Wアイテム, W Aitemu?), also called Double Item and Alchemy, is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series. It allows the user to use two items in one turn in battle.

AppearancesEdit

Final Fantasy IV: The After YearsEdit

FFIVTAY Double Item allows the user to use two items in a row, this command never made it in the final version of the game. Nevertheless, the command can still be found within the game's data.

Final Fantasy VIIEdit

VII The W-Item ability allows its user to use two items on a single turn. It is granted through the W-Item Materia. The earliest opportunity to obtain the Materia is during the Raid on Midgar in Part 2. It is found in the South End of the Sector 8 Tunnel; the player must keep heading downwards even if the party members tell that is the wrong way. At the end of the path there is a save point next to the Materia. If the Materia is not acquired at this time then it may be excavated from Bone Village in Part 3.

The command can be used to perform the W-Item duplication bug.

Final Fantasy VIIIEdit

VIII While the command does not appear in the game, at one stage of development the item was planned and programmed for the game. The Final Fantasy VIII PlayStation demo has two extra dummied command abilities that were removed for the second, non Rinoa demo: Fortify and W-Item. W-Item works the same as its equivalent in Final Fantasy VII and uses two items per turn.
