Vilia, also known as Silvune and Kestrel, is an enemy in Final Fantasy V.

An often overlooked enemy, she may be found in the extreme southwest corner of the seas in the merged world (the same place as Gel Fish) and later in the River of Souls area of the Sealed Temple in the game versions that include this bonus dungeon. She will only use physical attacks. Controlling her will reveal two Blue Magic spells in her repertoire (Pond's Chorus and Lilliputian Lyric), while catching one allows the player access to the powerful Almagest spell. Vilia is vulnerable to status ailments, including the ones from her own Blue Magics.

Etymology[]

The vilia are Slavic woodland spirits, known in English as witch of the wood.

The Japanese name appears to derive from a combination of multiple words. The ビュー (byū?) may come from the word "beauty" (ビューティー, byūtī?). The シル (shiru?) may derive from the fact it has silver (シルバー, shirubā?) glasses to steal, but it may also be the first part of the name "Silvia" (シルビア, Shirubia?), while the second part of the name is found at the end of palette-swap Lemure's Japanese name.
