[edit] FFI Elemental affinities

Just a quick question that I'd like to ask since you seem to have a good knowledge of the subject. For the enemies for Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II, do elemental affinities differ depending on the version of a game (eg. an enemy can be weak against Fire in the NES version, but not in the GBA version)? Oh, and welcome back! I missed you! Jeppo (Talk) 13:33, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

The elemental changes are the same in FFII. However, the names aren't all the same (e.g. Lightning/Bolt). FF however, there are are a few odd elements that were changed. In the NES version (and maybe PS version [can't confirm that]) there are the extra elements of (they don't have names [using a FAQ's names) Status, Poison/Stone, Time, and Death. Status consists of all the status effects except Poison and Stone, which have their own element. Time is magics STOP and ZAP!, and Death is RUB and XXXX. These elements show which enemies are weak or immune to certain status effects, i.e if Chaos is immune to Time, he can't be effected by STOP and ZAP!. The GBA version replaced these elements with Mind, Body, Dimension, and Death. I am unsure of what element pertains to what in the GBA version, but you can rest easier and know that the elements of MBDD are already on all the FFI enemy pages in the GBA section. Or, you can just ignore and delete the status elements because they are pretty irreverent and are only their to help the game function (whew, I wrote a lot for no real reason).
Also, thanks for the welcome back Jeppo, it's great to be back! ^.^ ScatheMote 13:51, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
OK, so for FFII there is Fire, Bolt/Lightning, Ice and Poison, and for FFI There is Fire, Ice, Bolt/Lightning and Dia and for NES and possibly PS: Status, Poison/Stone, Time and Death, and for GBA and PSP: Mind, Body, Dimension and Death. OK. I'll work on the FFI and FFII template on my sandbox and I'll call back to see what you think of it. Jeppo (Talk) 15:30, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
EDIT: here you go. I had to shorten the Poison/Stone element to Poison due to space constraints, but I could change it to Poi/Sto or something. Anyway, are you happy with it? Jeppo (Talk) 15:49, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
Looks quite good, but in FFI there is also an Earth element (that I forgot to mention) that affects the hit rate of QAKE and the special attack of Chaos CRACK, which only appears in the NES version (and PS version, but I don't really know). ScatheMote 16:44, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
OK, I've added Earth in. I've also added the Earth element in for PS but not for GBA and PSP. I seem to recollect in the PS bestiary that enemies can be immune to Quake anyway. How does it look?
Looks good to me! I can help with the NES part of it when I have time, if you need it. ScatheMote 18:24, September 3, 2009 (UTC)
I'd best put the template up. I don't know how much I'm going to do tonight but I'll try my best. Jeppo (Talk) 18:29, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

I'm a little bit confused. How can I word this... For the GBA/PSP version, does the Mind, Body and Dimension affinities have anything to do whether it is immune to status effects? For example, Does Mind tell you if it is immune to, say, Confusion or not? I thought that for the NES and PS versions, Status, Poison, Earth, Time and Death tells you whether it resists certain statuses or not. That was why I removed the Resistance field. Am I wrong? Jeppo (Talk) 19:35, September 3, 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, Mind/Body/Dimension/Death replaced Status/Poison/Earth/Time/Death in the GBA version. However, we should probably keep the fields in both the NES/PS and GBA/PSP as the fields aren't self-explanatory on what they actually protect the enemy from (well, the NES/PS names are almost self-explanatory, but not really). So hey, not sure exactly what just happened, but am I Ok with my pictures now?
ScatheMote - 01:45, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
Yes, all of the pictures are fine. The only problem was that you made the Our appearances in the mainspace, when it really should be titled User:Biggs&Wedge/Our appearences (don't worry, I've already fixed all this).

It's what Cerberus says when you fight him in the Dawn of Souls/20th Anniversary versions of Final Fantasy.

TALK - {{{time}}}
hello.thanks for the tips.Now for the election!listen, of these 3 characters who do you think is cooler:leon from 2, edge from 4 or shadow from 6?.
ScatheMote - 22:24, October 27, 2009 (UTC)
Erm, I like Edge the most, followed by Shadow, with Leon bringing up the rear.
Progmansp - ...your time is at end
TALK - {{{time}}}
why does everyone underestimate leon!He was awesome!I admit he dosint have as good a backstory as the others but come on he was the first anti hero heroish person.
ScatheMote - 18:09, October 28, 2009 (UTC)
He may have been the first anti-hero in the series, but he didn't have a noticeable personality (nor did Firion…odd). And Leon was totally useless in battle. Also, I don't particularly like Shadow either, and Edge is pretty unlikable as well. However, Edge is first on the list because I can actually remember him having lines, and some of them were moderately good.
Progmansp - ...your time is at end
TALK - {{{time}}}
useless in battle?leon was awesome!when he joins your party he comes with all his weapon levels on 6-7 or higher.Also characterwise at the end of the game when every ones supposed to be rejoicing he leaves and firion swears they will meet again.Come on that was awesome.Its been done but not before finalfantasy 2.
ScatheMote - 18:51, October 28, 2009 (UTC)
In the PS version, Leon was terribly useless. He had pathetically low HP, and his weapon skills weren't very high. And for the fact that Leon left the party in the end; I can barely remember the ending of Final Fantasy II. Clearly it didn't leave any impression on me. Josef and Gordon had much clearer personalities than Leon, though they did stop speaking when they joined your party.
Progmansp - ...your time is at end
TALK - {{{time}}}
even if thats true as a character he rules he has just the right amount of mystique to be awesome and he will always be awesome in my book.

and another thing. the ending from 2 was pretty cool. after beating the emperor in hell your teams meets everyone in fyn, hylda thanks them, litlle kain says he wants to be a dragoon and leon leon leaves.then you see your soul of rebirth party as spirits or whatever.but it was pretty cool and the whole time your listening to the rebel army theme cuz your in fyn.The rebel army theme rules!

[edit] Images

Biggs&Wedge - are the Red Wings - the pride of Baron!
TALK - 22:35, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
Okay, what did you just do to my images and how do I do it? I have the tools to remove simple backgrounds from pictures really easily and I can drift around and do that but I have no doubts that you don't want to be fixing everything I do. I can Imagine that that would not put me up very high in your estimates.
ScatheMote - 22:41, November 8, 2009 (UTC)
I simply put your images in the proper category. You can do this by writing [[Category:<Category name>]]. For example, for the Luca Goer image you just uploaded goes in the [[Category:Final Fantasy X Images]]. You can put the category name after you upload the image or in the summary box when you upload it (preferred).

[edit] Templates (Which I'm starting to think is a waste of time to make...)!

Xenomic
TALK - 02:01, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
Alright, so I've done all that I can think of for the FFIX Ability Template on my Sandbox, and was wondering how it looks to you? I don't think we want to list every individual Auto-Ability that can go there (I'm hoping not...), though I'm starting to feel like this is a waste of time making them....just wanna know yer input ^^;;
ScatheMote - 02:08, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
I'm divided. Does each Auto-Ability have its own page? If yes, most definitely add all the auto abilities. If not or if less then half have them, then no. And also, I'm don't really like the magic section. If you are going to make ability templates for each game (I'm assuming), then the current magic template will be have to be shrunk to only recurring magic. And also, if you are going to make one for every game, I think 15+ navs at the bottom of Fire a little excessive. So, if you are going to make the IX ability template, I suggest doing so if most of the Auto-Abilities have pages, and skip the magic section of it.
Xenomic
TALK - 02:12, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
I agree on the magic, but that's how the FFX Abilities template is already (and like I said, it feels like a waste even doing these templates to me in a way. I don't mind each ability having its own page, but an entire template just for them is a bit excessive, especially if we add those templates to the abilities pages too...).

As for the Auto-Abilities, oi vey. I think at least half of them has pages, though that would mean we'd have to make a page for each of the abilities that do not have a page yet (which apparently ILHI wants to do....though I'm still a bit against having an ability page just for an ability that's appeared in one game and isn't that significant x_x)

ScatheMote - 02:16, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
Well, we do that for FFT. A insane amount of abilities that only appear there have their own page. And FFT has a nicely organized template (which is a template just for them). So, I'm with ILHI on this one.
Xenomic
TALK - 02:20, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
Well....I suppose that's fine for that I guess...though does that mean that we're going to have 2 templates for some games then if less than half of the abilities only appear in said game??
ScatheMote - 02:24, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
Actually, we're probably going to have to do this with V and VIII (and other games that have many support abilities) if we're doing it with FFT and IX. So, this is going to be a moderately large project. :/
Xenomic
TALK - 02:26, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
Well...how about we try this. I can work on the templates that I'm currently working on, and you work on the Abilities templates per game? Up to you though....I have NO idea how the heck it'll be done for anything non-Job class related.....THAT'S the real issue here....
ScatheMote - 02:29, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
I don't think we have to do it for any game that doesn't have many support and command abilities. So probably we should do it for V, VIII, IX, X, T, TA, and A2.
Xenomic
TALK - 02:33, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
Hm.....not a bad idea. Well, IX and X's Ability Templates are pretty much done (save for me adding Auto-Abilities, though they aren't on the X Ability Template soo.....dunno....). I'll leave those off for the time being, and move onto...hmm....possibly V or VIII for the Abilities Template. Oi vey this is ridiculous to me lol x_x.
ScatheMote - 02:36, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
And I'll get started on the pages. ._. And this must have been the shortest wikibreak you've taken so far, with you wikibreaking for about 3 hours. :D

TALK - 04:18, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
User:Xenomic/Sandbox What do you think of the templates thus far over there? I'm still working on FFVIII's right now (gotta add the Magic spells to the list....)?

[edit] Why...

Are you adding the FF9 ability template to pages that already have the Ability template on them? Drake Clawfang 22:05, November 11, 2009 (UTC)
