The user template Edit

occu-27.png
Ser Blue says at 13:43, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

The recent deletion for the Template:User walkthrough ffiv and its reasoning beckons me to ask:

So, since the template was deleted because it is applied to only a user and his userpage, should the rest of the usermade templates for userpages and walkthrough namespaces also be deleted/moved somewhere else?

Awaiting reply.

It depends on how many pages a template is going to be used on. If a template is only going to be used on one page, then there's no need to make it, but if it's going to be used on even five pages, then it stays. Most userboxes are used, or are intended to be used, by multiple users. This particular userbox was designed by one user in a way that would really not apply to anyone else. You can read what it said. And if you feel like you want to restore it, go ahead.

If either are interested, I made a generic walkthrough userbox. But a userbox for a specific walkthrough for a specific game seems something that should be kept to custom boxes.

Ah, thank you then. It's no biggie, designing Userboxes is my thang now. :p

So I suppose this also applies to all of the templates in the Category:User templates? Because I'm not talking about userboxes only. I'm pointing to usermade infoboxes for walkthrough use, random templates for userpages and such and such, because as far as I'm concerned, your walkthroughs use the pseudo-templates. —BLUER一番 10:48, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Ah, I see. Well many of the user templates there are talk boxes, but others just seem to be custom user boxes that can be moved to the user's page and don't need their own templates. As for walkthroughs, is that not okay anymore? Because Blue Highwind and myself both use Boss templates for our walkthroughs, and many people use Navs. Drake Clawfang 15:09, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Don't mind ILHI too much. Albeit his hard work, he's our resident douchebag.

Censorship because of the overall low quality or even relevance of many comments around the forums is hardly something nobody has ever pointed out. You are more than welcome to express your views on the matter. Keep in mind, though, that if you delete comments other than your own (and sometimes even those) you are bound to get into trouble.

I emphasise: Remember you are not allowed to touch other people's comments (unless they be spam) no matter how idiotic you may think they are.
Aah, but you see I am right. Piss-taking of other people who appear to be not as intelligent as yourself is my fun. Someone who creates a topic asking for a superior class to be put in place, and then immediately asks himself to do the job is someone... who isn't rare enough. Arghh, that kind of a person is a real pain. Joining here not that long ago and asks to be among those who work extremely hard to keep the place in place, and have done so for longer than many can remember. The answer would be no, but lent to them in a way that does not seem so harsh. I just laugh at them, and then my views of them from then onwards will always be... well, idiotic.

Also, your comment elsewhere in regards to me not just being remembered for my writings in talk pages not always making sense... seriously, what-else would I be remembered for? It's like you are trying to make me think what they could be, and yet giving me no idea to your implications, just something associated with antagonising. Well, you is wrong because you're one of few who see me in that way. Or aren't as courageous in saying it as you and I, possibly because my reverse would end the thing in my favour. Anyway, douchebaggery, it's an insult that's not even funny. Hell, if people actually used insults that made sense. If people's insults were direct and made-sense, rather than "your Mum" comments and insults where they call a person the name of something else. I am not a douchebag nor dickhead -- possibly an idiot but that actually makes sense.

In real forums, moderators delete spam, only so they don't get boosts in their post count for crap. We don't have post counts here, and removing messages does not lower their edits to forum-space. People taking the piss in a joking way is not against..... I actually can't be bothered, an admin deals with behaviour when they see it necessary, though they don't read all forums. But what I think you are referring to Blackheart is just for the person's mutilated humour.

BTW, I don't wish for you to reply Fae. Do so but this isn't going anywhere happy.  ILHI 17:41, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

I would never do this, and neither would most other users. For example, three/four of our users are Australian, and are young. Now, a plane ticket from Australia to the UK/US is expensive. I'd guess £500 (a ticket from Scotland to Japan is £600, so that's what I'm basing this on). I'm 20 and I only have £200, so not even I could afford such a trip, nevermind people still in school.

The way you talk about all this makes it seem like you think this is jsut something people throw together on a whim. Conventions take a lot of time and money, and no one on our relativly small site would put that much investment into it.

Well, "The Fierce Battle", aka, megaboss theme (Atma Weapon/Statue music), is Kefka's normal theme, but apparently Dancing Mad is an unlockable track, so it is there. And Forsaken, yes. In that video, Kefka got the three button commands perfect, so he performed "Light of Judgment". But if you get the commands wrong, he uses Forsaken instead.

Lol, wow. Okay, quick tutorial, CSM. What Kefka pulled off there was "EX Mode", achieved when the purple bar next to the HP meter fills. When you enter EX Mode, your appearance changes and you gain new attacks. But, when you damage HP successfully, you can perform an "EX Burst", which is yeah, a Final Smash sorta move, where you input button commands or tap a button rapidly, etc, to power your attack up. EX Mode/Burst is basically, Dissidia's Limit Break system.

Here's the original magazine scan, comparing Dissidia "Forsaken" to FF6'as "Goner": here

character infobox Edit

Hey, CSM. I'm using the FFVI character pages to test trial an infobox idea I got. Inspired from Earthbound's Wikia no less. You know I do this only to... as I always put it... improve layout and design for the wiki. Hope you're okay with me using the SD artwork as the main image - I always thought they were the closest to portray the characters. I got nothing against Amano, but...ah... those SD images are so standardized that it was kinda neat to see them all in the same pose in all their article. And of course sprites go back into the infobox; sorry for kicking them out last time, I realized it wasn't such a good move after all. Course, I hope you let me finish it for all the character articles later. —BLUER一番 16:40, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

I think I can see some of what happened. There's a misunderstanding between all of you. ILHI thinks that the three accounts might be run by the same person, which we call "sockpuppets." Unfortunately there's no way to prove whether you guys all have three accounts that are legit, or whether or not they're all sockpuppets. The whole argument is disjointed, so I'm going to bring this up on the forum and I will only believe independent observers, not you guys or ILHI. And we don't tolerate harassment here, and right now until I hear a story I'm implied to block everyone involved, including ILHI.
It's sorted now. Because they didn't seem to give information which explains all my points to believe they were a part of sockpuppetry until the end, and later on my talkpage. My question is why do people like to bring this up after I had said I'll shut up on Grl's talkpage? My talk page is now filled with people telling me to shut up after I already said I would.  ILHI 15:16, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Blue, I think he's asking for the ROM, not the patch. Unfortunately there's a gag rule among video game sites about linking to sites that have downloadable ROMs because of copyright issues. It's complicated, and at times it's unfortunate (and there are lots of sites that have admins that are much more threatening than I am about it, ie "answer this question and you'll be banned," type thing, or "we don't care that you can't find a ROM,"), but unfortunately that's the way it is. The best I can legally help you with is Googling it, and it's not as hard as you think. Also, I highly recommend importing the game so you own a legal copy which would make any case against you harder to pull. I imported a legal copy myself (and it's sitting on my dresser in its celophame!), and I don't regret it. Think of it as a way to say "thanks" to the creators, who busted their balls doing this. Good luck!

Not only is he the superior character, but after subbing Squall's story and watching it, Seifer would have also had much better character dynamic with Squall too. Ultimecia is just...bleh. She's as unimpressive a villain in Dissidia as she was in FF8.

I actually agree with that. Seifer would have been far better than Ultimecia, because she was only a real enemy for THE LAST DISK. At least Seifer and Squall have a HISTORY. Golbez and Cecil makes sense, of course.

I missed Diablo's comment before. Yeah, early on Kain was being considered to represent FF4 on the villain side, but he ultimately got cut for Golbez. I know you don't like Nomura, CSM, but apparently he really wanted Kain in the game. There's no plans for a Dissidia sequel yet, but Nomura's said if there is a sequel, as far as he's concerned Kain is guaranteed to be in it.

@Goldberry - Exactly. In Squall's Dissidia story, Ultimecia is nothing. She manipulates and deceives Squall for no real reason, and Squall fights and opposes her...for no real reason. Their dialogue is bland, typical "foolish hero!" and "evil villain, I will defeat you!" stuff. Nothing like the interaction from Cecil and Golbez, or Terra and Kefka. Hell, I hate Sephiroth, but he and Cloud have a reason to fight each other, their dialogue is good at least.

Ultimecia and Squall have nothing to work off of, no story or history at all. Had Seifer been in the game, with his history with Squall and their rivalry, there could have been an awesome storyline there. Oh well.

Dissidia FF6 Edit

I've subtitled Parts 1 and 2 of Terra's storyline, if you want to watch. Kefka is much fun as ever - he tells a combination of lies and truth, pisses off the heroes doing so, then loses his patience for that and starts laughing and blowing up shit. Oh, BTW, I found this - it's the script for Terra and Kefka's final battle in Dissidia's final stage. See if any of it sounds familiar....

Kefka: It's not enough...More! More destruction!
Terra: Stop it already! Any more destruction is meaningless!
Kefka: Meaningful destruction is boring! Meaningless destruction is fun! If people know everything will eventually be destroyed, why do they continue to build? If they know that they will eventually die, why do they continue to live? Once you're dead, it all becomes meaningless!
Terra: Because there are things we must protect. Isn't it enough to search for meaning during your life?
Kefka: It's all futile. The world and all of you will soon be eradicated! Life...Dreams...Hopes..Where do they come from? Where do they go? All of these things are empty and unsatisfying! I'll destroy them all.... I'll spend my brilliant life destroying them all!

"I can detect matter down to one atom in a vacuum the size of the moon, and apparently, this guy doesn't exist" -- Foaly
Hey, CSM. You may recall some time ago you deleted the USERNAME template, citing as the reason that it doesn't work without modifying the js codes on the wiki. Well... I think I've found the necessary code on Uncyclopedia. Obviously, I can't edit the Wiki's copy of the MediaWiki:Common.js file, nor would I dream of doing so without approval. My point is, I think that if you put this code into it, the USERNAME Template would work.
/** Username replace function (template:USERNAME) *******************
  * Inserts user name into <span class="insertusername"></span>
  * Originally by Splarka
  * New version by Spang
  */

function UserNameReplace() {
    if(typeof(disableUsernameReplace) != 'undefined' && disableUsernameReplace |
| wgUserName == null) return;
    var n = YAHOO.util.Dom.getElementsByClassName('insertusername',
'span', document.getElementById('bodyContent'));
    for ( var x in n ) {
       n[x].innerHTML = wgUserName;
    }
}
addOnloadHook(UserNameReplace);

I also have the template archived in my userspace, so if it does work, it's there ready.

DISCALIMER: I know nothing of javascript, and not much of html, so if the above does not work, well, I can't help. But if there by some freak chance happens to be anyone who does know it, they could possibly go to the Uncyclopedia one and maybe see what else is needed.

Category: Suggestion

I could have told you all that ages ago: but where would we ever actually need this template? The odd joke here and there, but I never saw a need here.  ILHI 16:59, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Why does it have to have a particular use? When is any wiki likely to have a need for it? The closest thing to a "need" is surely the "You" article on Uncyclopedia. The ability to insert the viewer's username seems to be pointless in itself, yet it still exists. So why shouldn't the function, and by extension, the template?

In fact, I have another point. If you think we shouldn't have it because it's useful only for entertainment, then let's also erase non-factual userboxes. That's basically all but the wiki-related, personal and completed/fandom/hatedom/etc.

Category: Reasoning

Some wikis find it more entertaining to templates. Star Wars wiki has the quote "[username], I need you" on one of their maintenance templates.. That's the only place I've seen it used. Uncyclopedia is clearly about the "jokes" so that's why, it can be used as a humourous tool. As for userboxes without a use, that is irrelevant. I'm asking where will this template be used, said userboxes are already being used. So, where can we use the username code or are we just adding it so we have another tool at our hands?

I was just questioning your motives, that all. I'm not saying it shouldn't be done. You should probably ask another admin to add it to the js though. It's not like having it will effect the wiki in a negative way.  ILHI 18:05, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

My personal motive is to have a welcome message on my userpage that is addressed to the viewer, but my general motive is for it to be available to anyone who wants it. So, yes, basically we'd be adding it just for the sake of having another tool, albeit one which I would immediately implement on my userpage.

The reason I raised the issue on CSM's talk was just because he was the one who deleted the template last time it was attempted. If I need to ask a different admin, you'll have to direct me to the most appropriate one.

Not to sound argumentative, but I think you missed my point on the userboxes. Yes, they are being used, but (if available) the USERNAME template would be by now as well, not least because it was my attempt to use it that led to this discussion, making me living proof that someone has a use planned. It was just that you seemed to question it having any purpose besides entertainment, and I pointed out that many of the userboxes have no purpose besides entertainment, so the principle is the same. Besides, you may find that quite a few people have wanted to use it in the past, and I'm just the first one to be this persistent rather than give up when it didn't work :P

It's hard to update things when you have a full time job. I'll definitely get around to doing it; I just need a decent amount of time and that's hard to find these days. Although I have a four day weekend coming up, and no vacation, so I may try to finish that section. Also, I sort of need inspiration or something like that that would make me think about something in order to write about it. I don't want to write a bare-bones walkthrough; the kind of walkthroughs I write require a serious investment of not just time, but also thought. I promise you if you had about 50 other responsibilities to worry about (my job, my attempts at a social life, and a new willingness from me to spend time outdoors) you wouldn't be able to write very well; I've tried that, trust me. When it gets cooler and there's less willingness from me to be outdoors, I very well may go back to it.

I just wish I had more time. You should invent a time machine and give it to me.

A new Final Fantasy Answers site has just opened. 1500 Final Fantasy questions from Wikianswers are being moved there. If you have enabled the Wikianswers widget, you'll now see questions about Final Fantasy taken from this new site instead of from the Central Answers site. If you would like to customize the widget, you can edit the text at MediaWiki:Answers widget user note. You'll find more help with the widget at Help:Wikianswers widget. If you'd like to be involved and join the admin team at Final Fantasy Answers, please let me know on my talk page there. Angela@Wikia (Help Forum, Blog) 01:52, May 26, 2010 (UTC)

Final Fantasy VI Ultimania? Edit

Hi CrazySwordsman. I think I may have an FFVI Ultimania. I can't read a single kanji, but I have a small book that has a picture of Relm on the front. It looks to be an Amano piece. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I figured I'd at least let you know. I have a web cam and I can take a picture of it, but I have no experience with Wiki pictures and their rules. Anyway, my point is, I have this and I'm hoping it can help you. TheBlueDragoon 03:56, June 1, 2010 (UTC)

I have no idea what's inside. Is there a page with a profile on the Blackjack? If that's the case then that's it. We need translators. --Crazyswordsman 02:49, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

Auror Andrachome! Today's victim.. is you!

So, should we get started now?

Hi there Crazyswordsman. I came to speak that I was blocked on the Final Fantasy IRC Channel. I've only been there twice and I'm not entirly sure why I was blocked, so I don't mean to complain and I have good intentions, but I'm not sure why I was blocked.

You aren't blocked, simply there is a flag that prevents users who aren't logged into Freenode from speaking. A guide on how to sign up/log in is here.

Hi, I was looking through you're page and noticed that Basch shares the same voice actor as Bloo. Well, you may or may not know that Coco, Madame Foster and Cheese from that very same show were all voiced by Candi Milo, none other than the voice actor of Shantotto from Dissidia! Just a little tidbit ;). I think it is shown quite well in this video :)

Final Fantasy Wiki in 2011Edit

Hey there! Wikia is trying out something new this year where we are trying to make a "yearbook" for the biggest wikis, and we want to know what big things happened this year at Final Fantasy Wiki! Can you check out this blog post and either give some details in the comments, or just write on my wall if it is easier. We're looking for fairly detailed information, such as what the community's favorite game/character/item is etc. If you have any questions, shoot me a message! Thanks so much! Final Fantasy Answers Wiki Edit

Ok seeing as i do not know who are the admins on the FF answers wiki i decieded to contact you. For every day now i have been answering many questions on the FFA wiki but something i have notcied is idiots asking stupid questions like "Am i gay?", "I would go gay for Zack" and "Did Rydia have a penis?" now i have marked some of this idiotic questions with the delete template but some Wikia Contributor keeps removing the. If i knew who the admins are on the FFA wiki i would ask them, hell if i had the power to do so i would just delete this stupid questions my self so if you can help me i would realy appreciate it. Idiotic beginner question, help? Edit

Sorry to sound a fool, but, how do i change my avatar? All i have to choose from is a starfish, goldfish, the earth, or some flowers. Surely there's a way to have a better one? -Highwind_Leviathan

Couple things. Don't worry, all beginners make these mistakes:
  • Click "Choose File" above the starfish.
  • Sign posts with ~~~~
  • CSM is no longer on this wiki. C A T U S E00:58, December 6, 2011 (UTC)
Hmm, I don't have a "choose file" option

Highwind Leviathan 01:08, December 6, 2011 (UTC)

Can't help there, but I will say this: pretty much NOBODY on this wiki uses the "New Wikia Look" which is the only skin/theme that uses avatars. That said if you'd like to switch yourself to "Monobook" (it makes the use of this wiki easier) simply go to Special:Preferences and scroll to the bottom.C A T U S E01:53, December 6, 2011 (UTC)

In your userpage you have your personal infobox at the top, and the "edit avatar" button below your avatar. There you can upload your own avatar from your computer by using the "browse" option.Keltainentoukokuu 02:26, December 6, 2011 (UTC)

Your/AuronKaiser's VIII Walkthrough Edit

I'm guessing it's abandoned, and so I'm marking it for deletion. Lemme know if it's not, thanks.C A T U S E21:52, December 23, 2011 (UTC)

Missing Band Edit

Hey just FYI, there is a band missing on the Band page. It is called "A Little Black Magic." It is a band between Leonora and Palom when they both input Black Magic.

Thanks for letting us now. :) All articles have talk pages where these kinds of things can be pointed out. WB. Edit

I dunno if this is just you protecting your walkthrough, or you're really back, but nice to see you. - BlitzballArtTidus357 01:36, July 16, 2012 (UTC)

I'm replaying the game right now (blame HCBailly LPing the game right now for getting me back into it) so expect me to make some real edits to that walkthrough when I get to the Paramina Rift (which was where I last left off; I'm a little worried because I want to include some sort of funny intermission comedic play as an "intermission" of sorts at the halfway point and I don't know what to do). Right now I'm just protecting my walkthrough though; I will be back whenever I get that far. Sorry I'm not around much; I have a job and grad school, plus I'm now in a running club so I don't get to do this much anymore. And like I always say, this is probably the most complex, least straight forward game in the series to write for so I warned at the beginning that this walkthrough would be something I would come on and off of. But yeah, I want to keep Penelo's name misspelled as Panelo in my walkthrough because she's just so damn pointless; it's an inside joke that I have. --Crazyswordsman (talk) 01:42, July 16, 2012 (UTC)
Welcome back! Now I'm glad the admins didn't delete your FFVIII walkthrough after I put up a bunch of abandoned walkthroughs for deleton. :\ C A T U S E 03:02, July 16, 2012 (UTC)
Well, in any case, welcome back to the Final Fantasy wiki, bro. I'm sure you'll log onto the IRC and get a storm of "WELCOME BACK =D" :P - BlitzballArtTidus357 03:21, July 16, 2012 (UTC)
So you also watch HCBailly! I just checked the FF12 walkthrough to see if it had progressed. Bailly will be playing the whole Dragon Quest Zenithian Trilogy in the name of love and retrogamers like you. BTW Bianca.Discordius Erisianus (talk) 00:21, August 7, 2012 (UTC)

Square Enix ConnectionsEdit

Hello Crazyswordsman,

In case I haven't introduced myself, my name is Jorge and I am on Wikia's Community Development team. Square-Enix recently reached out to us about working closely with you, the Final Fantasy wiki community, up to and possible including make you an "official wiki community." In support of such an effort, Square would commit to exclusive asset drops (including concept art) for future games, including FFXIV and FFXIII-3 , beta access for FFXIV, developer interviews, etc.

I'm reaching out to Diablocon as well to see if this is something you all would be interested in. Of course this is a long way off and nothing solid has been discussed, but we'd love to gauge your interest. Let me know your thoughts or if you have any questions by leaving me a message on my talk page.

Thanks! Jorge @Wikia(profile)•(talk) 00:49, February 23, 2013 (UTC)

Question Edit

Why do you hate FFX? I understand if you hate X-2. But why X? I mean it has a great story. And good bosses. While I do admit, Tidus does suck, Auron, Wakka and Jecht are all good characters. If you haven't played the HD Remaster version,it is great. I've played both. And the international has more to do. If you like challenge, there is Nemesis, Dark Aeons and Penance.

Although I agree with X-2, even though it sucks SO MUCH!! I still did have fun beating Vegnegun, and capturing monsters in the HD Remaster.

Crazyswordsman has been inactive for a number of years now. There is a template at the top of this page stating as such. I doubt he'll be back to answer you. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle 23:56, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
probably because he prefers the classic FFs (1-6) more than the newer ones. But I do agree with him about Tetsuya Nomura. I guess he stopped playing FF after he had enough of Nomura's character designs and I bet he's not buying FFXV. Monterossa (talk) 05:12, June 21, 2014 (UTC)
