Guided by my love of Nomura artwork, I followed my nose to this Wiki, wherein I sifted and sniffed my way through various pages of characters drawn and sketched by Nomura. As I perused, smiling pleasantly at familiar works and occasionally sucking short breaths at works never-witnessed, I happened upon this little gem:

My gosh, I'd always wanted to know how he was conceived in the artist's mind. You know, before being blocked together with pixely-polygon messiness. Here he was! I didn't know such a thing existed! I saved it immediately of course. But the size and clarity of the image...

Now, I am not ungrateful. I bow my head to you humbly, in the last few hours of your departure. I cannot find a bigger or clearer image ANYWHERE. I've searched the bowels of the internet, going places that one of my class and breeding should never go. But nothing. I battled with myself. Should I ask? Dare I risk being disrespectful by posting where it was asked that none should post? 		Its a scan from the FFVII Ultimania. While I was on this wiki I spent a great deal of time scrounging the entire Internet looking for FFVII artworks, so forgive me if I'm going to have a bit of trouble remembering where each specific thing came from. Some good scans I've found are: [1] here. I don't know if that one is there, but try your best. I couldn't find a better version of that picture myself. I could only ever upload what I could find, and I never once held out on this wiki. Artwork hunting is a difficult task that may or may not lend out any success. For example, I once saw a Bugenhagen artwork, cut in half thanks to the poor scanning. I spend months looking for a full version, no luck at all.

		I've just started playing FFX with your walkthrough, and i was surprised to see that you actually missed Valefor's Secret Overdrive, Energy Blast. After obtaining Valefor, you can talk to the girl in the Item Shop and she will say her dog found something, then run over to Wakka's Hut(just across the road) and talk to her dog to make Valefor learn Energy Blast. It's a lot more powerful than Energy Beam and looks a lot cooler!

		Huh, I thought my criticism of "Where the Wild Things Are" was well-thought and almost insightful. As a sign of my maturity, I've tried to make clear my opinions are just opinions, thus the constant use of the phrase "I think" in that review. The old Blue would have said "Where the Wild Things Are kicks ass and anybody thinks otherwise is either a communist or a Vaan-lover (you decided which is worse)". But I guess I was wrong... =(

NGE Edit

Hi Blue, I know you left, but I found something cool with NGE and wanted to share it. The manga adaptation is now running through the movie, except there's a very important scene change. You know when Shinji is almost shot, and Misato runs in and saves him? Well, in the manga version of the movie, Gendo saves him. What follows is a very interesting multi-page rant from Gendo that reveal his entire goal and motivations point-blank. And honestly, he's more or less a fusion dance of Kefka Sephiroth.

Gendo tells Shinji his entire life was a miserable hell, until he met Yui, the one light in his life. Then, she died. Gendo cursed out God, wondering "why do you give and why do you take?" Gendo believes everything exists only to be taken away, to make people miserable. Third Impact will destroy humanity, and as the leader of Nerv, Gendo is meant to be a savior from god and same humans. But Gendo is aiming a bit higher - he wants to become God, not serve his will. Gendo (by merging Adam in his hand with Rei as in the film) will become a God, and recreate the world in his own image where no one has to experience the pain and loss he has, and he'll rule this world with a reborn Yui at his side.

So yeah, that's Gendo's deal, stated outright for once. There's also a sequence where Gendo shows how cold he is once and for all - Shinji refuses to pilot the Eva with Gendo being a dick. Gendo says to that: "....I beg you. I believe in you. I love you...is that what you want to hear? Would you pilot the Eva if I said that to you?" He then grabs Shinji's shirt, hauls him up to eye level and tells him "I could say those things, but it wouldn't mean a thing. I never loved you Shinji. You took my Yui from me."

Aye. Misato goes out with a bang in the manga, soldiers find her as she's wounded and she just smirks at them and holds up a grenade. So she still dies, but the kiss and promise are still there. As the manga scans have ended for now (ie, next bit isn't up yet), Asuka is fighting the mass-prpduced Evas, and Shinji is at Unit-01 who just activated on its own and broke free of its constraints. So maybe in this version, Shinji will get to the surface in time to save Asuka. Doreiku Kuroofangu 21:04, February 12, 2010 (UTC)

One more thing, because I don't remember this from the anime, the manga has a very epic scene. It's immediately after the dummy plug incident, and Shinji and Kaji are in Gendo's office. Gendo is being, well Gendo, and Shinji loses it and tries to slug him. Kaji holds him back, but his fist comes in inch from connecting, and Gendo looks pretty stunned that Shinji actually tried to hit him. If Kaji hadn't held him back, Shinji would have landed it too. One other thing I just remembered. There's another manga of NGE, it's basically an alternate universe story. Shinji, Asuka, Rei and Kaworu are students in "Nerv Academy" when the Angels begin to appear. Except they're literal angels, winged humanoids that possess other humans as hosts, and are intelligent and speak. Underneath the academy is SEELE, led by Gendo (who Shinji thought was dead), who have the kids fight the Angels because they use the cores from the Angels to strengthen Yggdrasil, the Tree of Life that supports the world. To fight the Angels, the kids of course have "Evas", except that the Evas in this story are empathetic weapons that manifest at will, and take form depending on the user's personality. Asuka gets a whip, Kaworu a sword, Rei has the Lance of Longinus, and Shinji's manifests as a handgun. Oh, and Kaji is a reporter and Shinji's guardian, Misato and the other Nerv staff are teachers at the academy.

So....yeah. I know, it's an interesting spin, but it isn't as good as the original story. The characters are the same though, same personalities and relationships with each other, and there's still mind rape and Shinji's inner monologues. But it just isn't the same. 		Don't worry about the boss templates, they're about the most complicated code on this wiki (and it isn't even my code, I just tweaked TacticAngel's Talk Template work). It took me years of work here before I was even close to trying something like that. I'd stick with just a basic box without curved corners, like the tables we use on pages all around this wiki. Look at that code, and you should be able to customize it further to fit your needs.

I assume you'll be the only person making the MMII forums.

So I'll post this here instead of in the forum itself. You can move it if you want, or do it manually yourself. Basically, the top of every MMII topic has to have "{{subst:Template:Forumheader/Magicite Madness II}}", and the above thing is just a quicker way to do it. I've (as an IP of course, just so you know) made MMII its own subforum to keep it all together. Firstly, I know you're not the only one running this. But it's easier for one person to create the topics, while both of you can do management. The only time the second person would create topics is if the first person is too busy to do so. Alternating is just pointless (and doesn't plan for times where the first person is too busy to do so) unless it's something like Featured Image, but this isn't, the weeks would look the same no matter who makes them. SO, I was under the assumption that only you would create the topics, since it looks far more like you're forefronting this than Drake anyway. And also, I still wouldn't put this in the forum anyway because it's not for any random user to make, only one of three people are managing this.

Secondly, because I only have the account to upload images. I still prefer to edit under an IP. The "of course" was just so you know the IP was me.

• Well firstly, the only decision was forums.
• Secondly, previously I had explained how it would work better as a subforum in the topic. It was the argument I was making against project pages. You decided forums over project pages, which was as a subforum, it's what I was saying.

  • Firstly, yes, all of the MMII forums will cloud over the far more important topics meant for Rin's. MMII is so completely pointless to the wiki, it's not even funny. MMII is hardly Rin's worthy anyway. Voting topics is not what Rin's is for.
  • Secondly, it keeps all of the MMII forums together. So you won't get the far more important Rin's topics in between MMII topics.
  • Thirdly, it means we won't have to individually edit each topic to move them to the Labyrinth at the end. It does mean we'll have to lock each one still, but then it doesn't mess up the "last edit" things. And Labyrinth isn't then clouded with a large number of pointless MMII topics. I mean he's young but usually younger ones have more energy to complete the tasks set before them. and you said in your Final Fantasy XII walkthrough when vaan attacked Vayne near the end of your run on playing the game "he didn't even do any damage." Why he diddn't do any damage is because YOU didn't continue leveling him up past Lv. 12 which is when you got every one in your party(Balthier,Fran,Ashe,Basch).Heck you didn't even use Penelo they are much more tougher than they look. 		About Zero's cheating ... He only cheated because he did not want Cloud to lose, as Cloud is one of his favorite characters. Question about the bot ignoring you. Edit

Since this is the most reliable way I have of contacting you, I'd like to ask a question. I know you didn't want the bot seeing you in the channel, but it's just undergone a significant restructure with its presence in the channel. I made the learned responses require the bot to be addressed, leaving only the random responses and Sorceror Nobody's l'Cie function active as automatic. It's been asked that the "Seen" function somehow bypass the ignore list, but that's just not possible. I was wondering if you'd be willing to look over the remaining automatic terms and see if you'd still like to keep being ignored by the bot, or if you feel any trigger phrases would be a problem. Sherlock Holmes Edit

In a word - awesome. They say better than the first, I don't know about that but for sure it's just as good. The banter between Holmes and Watson is always amusing ("Holmes, how many times are you going to kill my dog?"), the action good, Robert Downey is in top form. Irene was wasted though, might as well have not appeared. I hope she comes back for the third one. Mycroft didn't do much, he has a really funny scene with Mary but otherwise is mostly just there to provide a way for Holmes and Watson to be at the scene of the climax. Also, the train sequence is one of the best in the film IMO, Holmes being insanely prepared as ever and proving it here.

I thought at first Moriarty was a less interesting villain that Blackwood since his goal is much more simple than Blackwood's desire to take back the US for the British - without going into specific spoilers on his scheme, Moriarty wants money and power. And he isn't on-screen as much as Blackwood, mostly we deal with his minions. But during a scene I was on edge waiting for Moriarty or one of his minions to spring on Watson, and I realized that while his goal is simpler, Moriarty is better at the villain game because they establish early on he can outwit Holmes, he does so several times, and so you never know what he's got up his sleeve for them next. I knew the second I saw the site of the climax what would happen eventually, and I was absolutely right. The final action sequence is awesomeness incarnate, and I would tell you about it but I know you hate spoilers, and it would ruin the shock of the twist in said action sequence. So I'll just say it's fitting, and one of the most creative sequences I can recall in recent films.

That's not what I said. I predicted the LP would be a BlueHighwind LP over an FFWiki LP-- and the renaming of Squall was the first and last straw.

It's nothing to do with you. If Drake did an LP where named the main character "Drake" then I wouldn't watch that either. Even if that's the only imprint Drake had on the LP. It's treating it as a personal project because it just shows no consideration for who the LP is credited to: Not just you, but the wiki. The wiki isn't for the wiki, it's by the wiki.

For clarification, the exact reason I stopped watching the LP was because of the reasons everyone is now stating they have a problem with the LP. And I made this decision without any input from others, and I had assumed up until the hour Faethin made that post, that no one else even cared.

But apparently they did care. So I hope you don't have a special grudge against me, because my opinion was the same as everyone else, I just acted on mine first. And unlike most other people, I actually presented a problem I had to you when we were in the IRC (even though I didn't know that anyone else cared at the time because I had not been in the IRC while people had complained). If more people had done that (the ones who were in the IRC and participated in complaints) then maybe we wouldn't be in a situation where we have hours worth of recording that is potentially unusable, at least on the wiki.

Apologies for the wall of text, but I really want to make it clear that the reason I don't watch is not because of you, it was because of how I saw you handle the LP after I gave it a chance. JBed (talk) 18:48, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

So you didn't find it at all entertaining, meaningful, or even watachable at all? That's still about as rough of a review as anybody could give to anything. Everybody else, as far as I can tell, has a generally positive opinion of it (despite this very confusing haggling over how much of a personal stamp I've put on it, most of which I couldn't help even if I tried, and some of which I am trying to help), but you solely find it completely worthless and not worthy of your time.

Well, that's one way you could look at it. I didn't watch it long enough to get anything from it-- to gauge whether it would be entertaining or meaningful. I started watching FFWiki LPs with an expectation, and that expectation was not met.

In reality, I watch/ed the FFWiki LP out of a sense of duty: It's a wiki project, and I am part of the wiki. Sure it's entertaining, but there are other uses for my time--if I was not interested in the wiki I would not have watched.

Ergo, I expected an FFWiki LP, but from what I saw, I thought I was going to get a personalised LP featuring members of the FFWiki. I'm a man of principle. JBed (talk) 14:35, April 13, 2013 (UTC)

Recall Edit

Hey Blue, the Recall page says that you can cast a random spell with NO MP cost. But in the version that I have, there's a MP cost if Recall works, no MP cost if it doesn't. In your walkthrough you mentioned that when Recall doesn't work, it just sucks away the MP. Its been about five or six years since I've played FFIV DS and wrote that walkthrough, I'm sorry, I don't remember this ability at all. I do remember that Tellah was completely worthless in every way, and that none of his abilities were worth their weight in Dirge of Cerberus discs. Well, I don't remember what happened, but luckily I know myself pretty well. The way I assume it went was that I was desperately out of MP, as happens horribly often during Tellah's section, and I used Recall because the wiki probably told me there wasn't an MP cost. Just out of desperation since a character picking a random spell seems horribly dangerous to me. But I guess he did the spell and still an MP, that's my best guess. Or Tellah did something endlessly stupid and used Fire on a Salamander or something. (I don't even know where I put my copy of FFIV, sorry.) --BlueHighwindツ 13:49, April 21, 2013 (UTC)
