Hi^^
Edit
hello you are a administrator right? can you answer a question? I want to write an article about the architecture of the cities of the Final Fntasy but i do not know if this is allowed, if is authorized where I put it? thank and apologize for disturbing you with such basic things. Sindra The Fire Angel 23:21, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- That's a really good idea, actually. I've always loved the architecture of the series as well. The page you have in mind can be constructed like the Music of Final Fantasy page, and be called Architecture of Final Fantasy. Maybe you'd like to bring the idea up on the forum topic you created? Create a new section and ask if people have ideas for this article, or you can start it yourself and people can discuss it on the talk page. 8bit 01:46, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

It's no problem at all XD Did you multiple upload them? I always forget something when I multiple upload ><
| |||
Yeah, I used the multiple upload for em. Funny that I did it with this batch and not the earlier batch before em....and yeah, it's a good thing that you caught the error when you did, since I have like a good 50 some more images to upload. As you could probably tell, I tried to get images of like....EVERY ability attack thing in FFV. It was more of a....put the game away forever type of thing that I'm doing. Just getting as many images out of it as I can before I say goodbye to the game forever ^^;;

I absolutely love ability images, so keep it up ^^ You know, I almost bought FFV advance at a gamestop, but opted for Echoes of Time instead. Is it a pretty good game? It's the only game between I and VII that I don't have...
It's about the same as the other versions of FFV. Moderately difficult at best if you don't know what you're doing, but overall it's a fun game imo. Optional dungeon is pretty rough though...and Omega Mk.II and Neo Shinryu are a bunch of crap I must say. First time in a FF game I've EVER been so frustrated (well, not including Ozma, but that's a different story ^^;;

Whoa, I just realized you're uploading all the ability images from literally every spellset in the game. Nice job 8D
| |||
Like I said, it's like my "I'm putting the game away forever" thing. I WOULD do that with FFVII, but I still have one last thing to do with it....a video walkthrough on it, now that I can do it on my computer, and a 100% Perfect Game walkthrough at that (as well as possibly *gasp* IMAGES from the game!). I don't think there's anything else for me TO get from FFV in terms of images (except for Odin's Gungnir....) unless anyone has any idea on what else to get ^^;;

Yay! Intelligent computer user! \(^_^)/ Save meh from teh pitfalls of complicated setup procedures. Well, there's a specific Security CD I need to install on the laptop. It's a long story, but I can't get internet on the laptop yet because I don't want to unplug my desktop (which I'm using now; I spent two hours on the Dell Studio already and my computer-illiterate brain needs a reprieve). So yeah, if I want to access the Internetz at my house, I guess I need something called a router. Which makes the internet at my house wireless. Um, is there a difference between "reboot" and "restart"? There were some files that required a reboot, but I'm sure if I accomplished that. Thank you for volunteering to help; let me know if my questions grow increasingly obvious/nonsensical ^^ And yes, it's SHINY.
| -- | ||||||||||||||||
| Eric Ryan Jones, Master Epopt — 20:41, 14 August 2009 (UTC) | ||||||||||||||||
| "Reboot" and "restart" are the same thing. Reboot is just the "more technical" term in computing.
If you go looking for a router, make sure you get a list of the routers supported by your internet service provider. The ISP's website should have that list somewhere, but you can call them if you don't find it. Fortunately, when you have the router and it's plugged into everything, your laptop's wireless NIC should find it automatically. Don't fear asking obvious questions. When I was younger, I asked my grandfather and stepdad every one of them.

And now you code brilliantly 8D There was an option on the laptop to "transfer files" from my old desktop to the laptop. Do you think that's worth the time? Perhaps I can save some files on a gigstick and use that to manually choose what I'd like to bring over to the laptop?
| -- | ||||||||||||||||
| Eric Ryan Jones, Master Epopt — 18:46, 15 August 2009 (UTC) | ||||||||||||||||
| I prefer the gigstick method, because there are often things that either only need to be one one computer or simply aren't needed anymore. It may be wise for the sake of speed to zip (right click | Send to | Compressed file) the files before you put them on the stick. It will make the transfers to and from the stick faster, then it should only take a second or two to unzip them on the laptop. This can also turn multiple trips into one. | ||||||||||||||||

Hmm, is there anything speshul about Internet Explorer 8 that would make its downloading a priority? Also, are you a "Firefox is better!!!" user? I remember trying to download it on this deskyop about a year ago, to no avail. Thank you for the zip tip ^^
| -- | ||||||||||||||||
| Eric Ryan Jones, Master Epopt — 02:31, 17 August 2009 (UTC) | ||||||||||||||||
| I used to be one of those Firefox people, but I have since seen the light. I consider Internet Explorer 8 a priority, as it spots and responds to over 60% of malicious Web content. By comparison, Firefox 3 can only stop 30% and Internet Explorer 7 only gets 4%. You're in luck when it comes to getting IE 8. It is a free update in Windows, so at some point the computer will just go ahead and get it and not waste any extra space when it does.
Speaking of the differences between IE and Firefox, if you use IE 8 you will notice that some buttons on Wikia (and a lot of ILHI's code) look off-center. This is why some people think IE is bad. The truth is that, in return, IE 8 can display and play more types of files (such as BMP and wiki sound files) than Firefox can, without any space-stealing add-ons. I hope that helps with the browser decision.

Huhuhu, free upgrade? It did prompt me to install IE8 when I first accessed the internetz, but as usual, paranoid me clicked the "ask Me Later" button. Nice, though. The leptop view is a bit odd compared to what I'm used to (desktop), so some IE8 twiches hopefully won't be that strange. Do you recommend an external hardware drive? The people at the college tech store strongly pushe dme to buy one, but with the router I'm planning to buy I'm not so inclined to dish out more cash for another computing aid, at least not yet.
| -- | ||||||||||||||||
| Eric Ryan Jones, Master Epopt — 02:57, 17 August 2009 (UTC) | ||||||||||||||||
| You can probably wait to get an external drive. It only serves two general purposes. On one hand, it gives you more than a couple of GB of portable memory, so you can take projects with you. I find that having a laptop pretty much kills this purpose. The other is for backing up your computer. Saving backup files to an external harddrive is eventually much more cost-effective than buying mountains of DVDs to save onto. You have two computers, so this it is less useful in this respect, too. As long as you keep your most important files on both computers and keep your laptop stored away from your desktop (in case a fire takes half of your house or something), your files should be fine in most plausible cases. | ||||||||||||||||

Well, my laptop is for college in another city and the desktop is my family's, so unless there's a dual strike of arson, I should be okay. Thanks for helping out. I actually haven't touched the laptop since yesterday morning (don't have the router yet), so it may take a while before I can find somethign I don't understand again. I may message youz on your talk page when that happens 8D

| Eric Ryan Jones, Master Epopt — 03:13, 17 August 2009 (UTC) | ||||||||||||||||
| Sounds like a plan. A word of advice for the college computer before I go to sleep: a good way to keep school files safe is to use an HTML mail service (like hotmail or gmail) to send your homework to yourself as an attachment, then save the email. This keeps your assignment locked in a password-protected pocket of cyberspace from which you can load it anywhere. I know a few people who were saved by this after hastily deleting an assignment they actually still needed. | ||||||||||||||||

Admin! Help!
Edit
Okay Point of No Return: Can you do these things:
- Delete the article (but not talk page)
- Restore all edits from HenryA's edit on the 18:24, 13 August 2009: (Point of no return is not the place or event that triggers the final battle!) up (and including).
- Move the page to "Unrevisitable Locations" (but not talk page) --Suppress redirect
- Go back to the (now dead) Point of No Return article
- Restore all remaining edits of the article before initial deletion
Now we have two articles with all the correct histories! You can see why I want this done on Talk:Point of No Return (tl;dr: HenryA revamped the page wrong).
If there's an easier way to split an article I don't know it. ILHI 16:10, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
- Alright, so all edits from Henry's edit changing the page to "unrevisitable locations" is moved to Unrevisitable Locations, and everything before that is retained in the same place as Point of No Return. Sounds good before I start pushing buttons? 8bit 16:24, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
- So all revisions after HenryA changed the definition of the page are moved to Unrevisitable Locations, and all edits up to the revision before Henry's are restored and left at "Point of No Return". Yes. It hurts my head to think about it.
- I had to test everything to make sure it would at my own wiki earlier. It did. ILHI 16:27, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Yay! Everything you did was perfect. ILHI 16:38, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Can you delete Dungeon so I cans work? There are two uses of Dungeon, the "Location", and the "Theme". The theme is the piece of music played in the location so therefore the theme is a child, already mentioned on the locat article.
Delete plz. ILHI 14:45, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey there 8bit, I'm having some problems uploading over old images, basically when I try to upload a new one I get a message saying the image is corrupt but if I just upload my image seperately it goes up fine, I don't really know why it happens but because of it there are now two Garuda images. Sorry for the hassle mate but I didn't know how else to get the image up >:(.

Whoa, the image is "corrupt"? I've never received that message before. Hmm, I see your image, File:GarudaDS.png (btw, III DS transparent enemy images are win 8D), and it is far superior to the other one. I really don't know why it lets you upload the image seperately as png but not over jpg. Maybe the transparent image you have cannot be in jpg format? It's a long shot, but it's all I can think of.

Yo, howdy disciple, guess who this is. :p. I bring you tidings of good cheer - Zidane and Kuja sound alright. Kuja sounds good, Zidane is tolerable, but overall they didn't fuck it up as much as they could have. 64.228.216.113 01:17, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Hmm, you're right, it isn't fantastic, but it isn't horrible XD Kuja probably sounds more like his old arrogant self when he isnn't dissolving into space, so look for the other cutscenes for even more Kuja-ish behavior, methinks ^^ At least Zidane isn't all broody like Cloud/Squall. - But I no likes your wanting of Monk to be deleted T-T Same with Dark Knight; if there are enemy pages to be linked, the (Job) tag should exist. 8bit 20:05, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

@ILHI: The Monk in TAY is not a job class. Read our (Job) articles; their primary purpose is to give links to pages such as Monk (Final Fantasy III). IV and TAY are not games where the job class system is present. The reason I am against this is that creating the Monk page by moving Monk (Job) info there and adding links to the IV and TAY enemies/characters makes the page a mash of consistent Job) articles with random enemy/character info in. That was redundant. @Tenza: I'll check it out.
"The monk in TAY is not a job class" Yes they are. The Monks in TAY are just Monks. They are a generic class of characters, who are all Monks. It's almost exactly the same. If you're going to allow this, then go on, disambiguate at Dragoon. The Dragoons in II aren't a job class. It also has a IX section, which isn't a job class. So, I've just given to you a much worse situation WHICH WORKS FINE.
"The reason I am against this is that creating the Monk page by moving Monk (Job) info there and adding links to the IV and TAY enemies/characters makes the page a mash of consistent Job) articles with random enemy/character info in." -Monk in TAY IS NOT a character. He is, at most, three people at any one time. They are not random enemies. And LOOK at the Monk (Job) page. IT'S FINE. And it's been fine the whole time, yet it's all linked up, and ready to be moved back to its tagless name. It links to the TAY job class, and even to the IV boss, though it shouldn't need to cuz there's already a Yang link. The TAY boss doesn't need to be linked because it's the child of the TAY job class. We don't disambiguate Ramuh because you fight him in IV and TAY. ILHI 20:29, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I needed to reply to both of you and I opted for the lazy @ version ^^ Although I could have done that with colons. ehe. Hmm, pointing out that Dragoon exists puts me in a failboat. I still disagree with your portrayal of the poor TAY monks; they are still not job classes. They are characters: faceless, emotionless characters, but they are not jobs player characters can switch to. But you're right; really, is there a problem with Monk (Job) not existing? If Monk can exist and cover the job and minor enemies all at once, perhaps the loss of Monk (Job) doesn't mean much at all, especially if Dragoon does the same. I think that was me just being "OMG, Black Mage (Job) has (job) tag but Monk doesn't?! Does not compute!" obsessiveness. And in the Black Mage case, a seperate race and actual band exists, so the Black Mage (Job) page is definitely needed. Monk does work fine. I guess the mash of enemies/jobs works fine, as you put it, though it isn't necessarily consistent. But then, the Dragoon page isn't either. And I suppose there's not.... much of a difference between the characters in TAY, the boss defined by job class in IV, and the job class as a whole. Oh, dur, the page won't have a job tag anyway. Okay. Also, this doesn't mean anything anymore, but Ramuh isn't a job class. Most of my opposition to this revolved around the isolation of (Job) pages.

Yes, that was what I was looking at about the Monk: they are jobs, technically, in the storyline sense, but not in the gameplay sense. What would this parent Dragoon page be like? Because something that I always found odd was that the (Job) pages were supposed to be "gameplay only!" yet there was the gratuitous "Notable Dragoons include Ricard, Kain, Freya, etc.", in games where jobs weren't gameplay elements. Now, we aren't doing this for Dark Knight solely because of FFII Leon, yes?
What I don't like is having a disambig when things are actually the same thing. I've said this before. In fact, you were there. Some of the Ivalician summons, we have disambigs because the summon appeared as a character in FFT. But they're actually the same thing, so why should there be a disambig? I mean, there's no parent where you can right things that apply to both. The childs then split the article to focus on separate things and go more in-depth.
Sky Pirate. The recurring job class, and the Sky Pirates from XII are both still Sky Pirates. So why don't we have a proper Sky Pirate page?
A "Dragoon" page would have the opening paragraph saying the recurring features of a Dragoon. Then there could be a section for "As a job class". And then there could be an "Appearances" section. Some of them would be simple like II, IV, and IX. Although a VII section, where Cid's a dragoon, but he's the only dragoon in the entire game, won't work so well. Notice how on our articles, say Black Mage, we'll say their job class is "[[Black Mage (Job)|Black Mage]]"? Well, it links to the Black Mage job class page, which isn't the correct page to link to. Because Vivi has nothing to do with the job system.
Which then brings to mind summons. When I want to link to a summon page, what do I link to? I can't link to "List of Summons", because that's a list, and not a page to tell you about summons. I can't link to "Summon (Command)", because that's a page about the gameplay command. So unless a game has an article for their summons, I can't do anything. I remember suggesting we do it this way in "Talk:List of Summons". We didn't. Now there is no article to link to when you want to link to a page about summons. ILHI 21:12, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Okay, bit by bit: Hmm, I know that Ivalice is a unified world, and that all the games link to each other some way. One common link is the summons, but I've never really thought that the Lucavi in FFT are the exact same Scions that rebelled against the gods in XII and returned in RW and TA2. I think the reason that pages exist seperately as a disambig and as (Summon) is because in FFT, the Lucavi are not summonable. Non-Lucavi, such as Famfrit, have a full parent page because in all of Famfrit's appearances, he is a summon. Beings that have appeared in all Ivalice Alliance games, such as Adrammelech, have a (Summon) page, which includes everything except the FFT Lucavi. Now, in order to fuse these, we would need to assume you are correct and say that the FFT Adrammelech and Summon Adrammelech are one and the same. I'm of the opinion that they aren't, but I could see why someone would say that they are. I think we would need to draw in other well-versed Ivalice gamers like Diablo and AJDurai and talk about this before pages are moved. But nonetheless, the disambig page is tedious in one aspect: On Adrammelech's disambig page, the first link directs to the (Summon) page, which has a section on the Tactics Advance Totema. But there's also a link on the disambig page to the Totema, implying that TA Famfrit is not a summon from Ivalice. Should we remove the Totema link from the disambig? I haven't played XII, but I guess in that game the term Sky Pirate is used to label any rogue airship operator, or something. In Revenant Wings, the label still holds true, but now you fight actual Sky Pirates. Same compilation, so fusion could be a possibility, but the other links to the Den and the Unlimited character would be lost. I like your idea for the Dragoon Page. It wouldn't work for, say, Berserkers, but the Dragoon legacy throughout the series is enough to chronicle thorugh a Dragoon parent page with a seperate (Job) page. Hmm, okay, with Vivi, even though the introductory paragraph links to the appropriate race article, IX player tables have a section for respective "Job". But making Black Mage a parent page describing Black Mages leaves out the musical group. Maybe we should just do this on the (Job) page.... but then that would contrast with the Dragoon objective. So for summons, you want a basic overview of what summons are in general, how the magic usually works, and how it's evolved through the series from a one-attack command to the evoking of a temporary ally that replaces other allies? Maybe that could just go on Summon (Command)... I thought of "Summon Magic", but that's a redirect to the command page.

? How is Tactics not an Ivalice game? Maybe if Square left it with its 1997 incarnation, isolated from any other game like Vagrant Story. But Tactics spawned two "sequels" (in gameplay terms only, really) and was remade in the Ivalice alliance. Plus... it takes place in Ivalice. o.O

8Bit, I found something on Bulbapedia I think we can use here at the Wiki. A wonderful little foot-note sort of coding that could be quite handy. Check this out. Run your cursor over the asterisk*. What do you think? Like I said, we could use something like this for footnotes or something. Or for text like "Exclusive to -version-", we could use this for that sort of thing. No? OooOoOooOOOO.... is shiny o.o I definitely like this feature, and am trying to determine some other ways in which we could use it. We don't really... use footnotes, hmm. An equivalent to this is the <!--lulzchemistryisfun--> code that only appears when in edit mode. This is like the pageview version of that, so that means we can use it for the same functions as the aforementioned !-- thing does. Let's see. Images are already covered. What I think this would be awesome in is in the Help pages; people could move their mouse over a certain part of a template or a large batch of code and see what the function does. Like in the talk bubble, if one scrolls their mouse over the "TALK" link, it could say "this link takes you to the user's talk page." Or for huge enemy templates, we could surround more ambiguous fields with it to clarify what exactly should go it that space. Although using it for templates may not be the most fun thing to do. Please give me an idea of how you would like possible footnotes to work?

Edit conflict: Sorry, electronegativity and ion attraction force homework trumped you for a little while there :P Ah, nice, I forgot that in certain table we use those asterisks for footnotes. I like that method; a lot of the TA2 enemy tables could be cleaned up that way. The only downside is that the space to see the little drop-down thing is so small, and for repetitious asterisks (say ten or so were in a table), it might be better to have the footnote at the bottom. However, this would infer that people cannot memorize the property of the asterisked thing; if the little message hidden in * was "gives +2 Jump", you would hope that people could remember that and not need to look on every single *. Plus, it gives more flexibility if there's a lot of little quirks within the stuff in the tables, so we can give each thing its own sticky ntoe and not have a long list at the bottom.

For the first part, the problem with all asterisks IMO, is that when you see one you have to scroll down to the bottom of the table and read the note, with this you just highlight it. Just looks neater to me to have a single little asterisk than to make a reference system using them. And the template wouldn't be used for obvious things like that, it would be used for things that are important to note, but can't be fit in the table, like Rydia's spell things. Also consider how many page tables have the version differences noted in brackets after the main info. This template could replace those brackets. Okay, take something like Relic (Final Fantasy VI). You wouldn't use this for the "WOB/WOR" notes, that would pepper the entire page with the template. But things like "FFVI-A only", or "save Lone Wolf the Pickpocket, note that this comes at the cost of Mog not joining", we can use it for notes like that. EDIT - I've gotta go for a half hour, I guess, think it over. In the end though, if we did create a template for it, what harm could it do? The worst I see is that it gets rarely used, which isn't really a problem. Come vote in the Soul Shrine and take one of my Final Fantasy quizzes.
