About Me: Edit

Firstly, I will tell you I am interested in many things, perhaps we share some in common?

I greatly enjoy reading, especially tales of magical worlds/fantasy/adventure, (such as the “Harry Potter” series) and my favourite series are “Dragonkeeper”, and “His Dark Materials”. I also like the “Narnia” series. I also enjoy mystery novels (I am a "Sherlock Holmes" fan). I am a also a fan Steven King’s books (why do films suck so bad compared to the books?). Finally, my favourite single books (books not in a series) are “The Paperbag Princess”, “The Snow Queen”, and “The Lovely Bones”. I have also read and enjoyed the “AIR”, “KANON”, “School Days”, “Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni” and “Umineko No Naku Koro Ni” Sound Novels. The “Haruhi Suzumiya” books are great too (Yuki Nagato is my favourite character. I love her. She is smart and badass! What could be better?). Finally, I enjoy the works of William Shakespeare. My favourite plays are “Twelfth Night” and “As You Like It”, but my favourite quote is from the famous tragedy play "Macbeth":

I like this quote as it make you think about the brevity of life, and if you are doing as much as you can with life. Another play I like is “Gregory’s Girl”.

My favourite TV shows are "Doctor Who" (my favourite Doctors are the First, Fourth, Fifth, Eighth and Tenth and Eleventh. My favourite companions are Susan Foreman, Barbara Wright, Jamie, Leela, Sarah Jane Smith, Ace, Donna Noble, and Amy Pond), “Torchwood” (why did everyone except Gwen have to die?!), “Merlin” (Despite the terrible writing from some episodes. My favourite episodes are “The Poisoned Chalice”, “The Moment of Truth”, “The Lady of the lake”, “A Servant of Two Masters”, though I wish Arthur had saved the day, and “Lamia”. I can forget the anachronisms, it being based on a legend. My favourite characters are Guinevere, Merlin, and Morgana. Why did the writers have to turn Morgana evil so poorly? And I wish Arthur had saved Merlin more. And the series ending…what the hell…), "Lip Service" (Instant favourite! Well, that is despite the copious fanservice), “Leonardo” (I find it has the same appeal as “Merlin”, even if the anachronisms range from niggling to downright unforgivable, such as there being no Duke until 1532, and it and was Piero's great-grandson, Alessandro de' Medici, as the Medicis had been de facto rulers of Florence since 1434. Despite this, my favourite character is Lisa/Tomaso. I just love Girl-Masquerading-As-Boy characters), “Wolfblood”, "Being Human", “Once Upon A Time” (it has replaced “Merlin” for me nicely), “The Big Bang Theory”, “How I Met Your Mother”, “The Simpsons”, "Futrurama", "American Dad", and any nature shows featuring David Attenborough or Bill Oddie. I also like watching documentaries.

My favourite Manga are "Card Captor Sakura" (It was the first manga I read and it will always be my very favourite no matter what. I prefer the manga to the anime and movies, but they are still OK), "Sailor Moon" (Ami Mizuno is my favourite character out of the whole of the series), “Claymore” (one of few feminism-friendly shonen, though I wish Raki had remained a Non-Action Guy), “Black Lagoon”, (Fabiola, Roberta and Gretel are my favourite characters), "Elfen Lied", “Soul Eater”, “The Rose of Versailles”, “Naasuca of the Valley of the Wind” (so rare to have a female protagonist in such a story), “Absolute Boyfriend”, “Chobits”, “Barefoot Gen” (such a harrowing and effective semi-biography), and “Cutey Honey” (notable for being one of the first Shonen series to feature a female as the main character…and the beginner of fanservice).

My favourite Anime are "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya", “Seirei No Moribito” (This is the kind of stories I love, the rare ones with a female main character fiercely and truth protecting a male character, and it is made even better with a feminine male. I hope to find the novel series on which it was based), “Jigoku Shoujo”, “Neon Genesis Evangelion” (the gender flip of this great series, I just love it! The characters are engaging, the story is interesting, and well, it is just an truly...thoughtful anime), “Puella Magi Madoka Magica”, Bee Train’s “girls with guns” trilogy, “Paranoia Agent” (May Satoshi Kon R.I.P. He was one of the greatest minds in anime).

As well as these, I am also partial to the following, which are manga unless otherwise indicated. "Fullmetal Alchemist" (almost a favourite, though I have some sexism-related issues regarding the original manga), “Zettai Karen Children” manga (“Soul Eater” and “Zettai Karen Children” are the two of the VERY few Shonen series I know of which have female main protagonists/leads), “Zombie-Loan” (one of the many anime adaptations “Xebec” failed on), “Maho Sensei Negima” (Chisame Hasegawa resembles me when she is wearing her glasses, and has a similar personality to me, which is why she is my favourite character), “Tokyo Mew Mew” (I like both the manga and the anime equally. Lettuce Midorikawa is my favourite character), and “Renkin san-Kyuu Magical Pokaan” (sometimes I need to aside my from my usual, plot-driven manga/anime, in favour of a more amusing, comedic one. Aiko is my favourite character. As you see I am a fan of Meganekko characters _).

My favourite films are mostly series: “Kill Bill” (A woman getting revenge with a katana and martial arts while NOT wearing revealing clothing? Great!), the “Pirates of the Caribbean”, and the “Nightmare on Elm Street”.

As for individuals, there are, “Pan’s Labyrinth”, “Mulan” (the live-action version), Tim Burton‘s version of “Alice in Wonderland” (I love how Alice is an Action Girl and that her suit of armour is actually a suit of armour and not a chain mail bikini or some sexist, revealing rubbish like that).

I am a great fan of Studio Ghibli and most of its films (by Miyazaki mainly, of course, but I do not like “Castle in the Sky”) with my favourites ones being “Naasuca of the Valley of the Wind”, “My Neighbour Totoro”, “Grave of the Fireflies”, (although it was not the intended purpose, it is the best anti-war film I have seen), “Kiki’s Delivery Service” (even if the author of the Kiki books hated it), “Princess Mononoke”, and “Spirited Away”.

In addition, I am a fan of the films by Satoshi Kon, my favourites being “Tokyo Godfathers” and “Paprika” (which was the inspiration for “Inception”).

The final anime films I love are “Metropolis” (It is one of my very favourites, even if the ending did sadden me. The manga, although much different, is good too, but I do not know which I prefer). The two robot characters are very different in the film and manga), “Voices of a Distant Star” (A wonderful, emotional film, with a great gender-reversal of ‘I will wait for you’, which I hate when the female is waiting), “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time” and "Blood: The Last Vampire".

I also enjoy playing video games, though I see nothing special with being female and a game player. My favourite are “Final Fantasy”, my favourites being II (Frioniel is one of my favourite FF main protagonists, and the game is good for having the ONLY non-sexist male White Mage...if only he had not died...) V (Bartz is another of my favourite main characters, though I feel Lenna should have been such, as the story is more centred around her. Good for one of the only female-dominant parties in an RPG), VI (if only Tina/Terra was the true main character and not so weak and a Damsel-in-Distress, though I still like her), X (Tidus is my last favourite male main protagonists, and Rikku is one of my favourite FF characters of all), X-2, XIII (Lighting is my most favourite FF main protagonist and character of all. However, I hate Hope and his sexist, cliché story with his parents), and XIII-2 are my favourites. However, I hate IV and VIII for being the worst in sexism, along with Squall (IV being one of the most sexist, borderline misogynistic games I have ever played, which is saying something. It is completely undeserving of its critical acclaim), and “Kingdom Hearts” (even though it, too, is quite sexist at points, the gameplay and mix of characters/story is something I quite enjoy), the “Parasite Eve” series (the third game…not so much), “Beyond Good and Evil (Jade is such a great protagonist and of course I love Distressed Dudes, especially being saved by females. And Jade is my name _), the “Portal” series and the “Spyro the Dragon” series (I particularly like the “Legend of Spyro” trilogy). I also causally play the “Super Mario”, “Legend of Zelda”, “Kirby”, and “Sonic the Hedgehog” series, mainly because “Mario”, and “Zelda” and “Sonic” are, again, one of the many series with the sexist and constant Damsel-in-Distress stories.

I love comedians/comedic game shows. My favourite comedians/funny men/funny woman are Russell Howard (brilliant), Michael McIntyre, Jo Brand, Gina Yashere, and Miranda (she is the best female comedian there is).

I enjoy learning about history. I am also interested in Politics.

Like most sane people, I hate Fascists, Racists, Homophobes, Sectarians, Sexists, people who think it is ok to hunt animals, people who do not respect animals. I, unlike most people I have met, care about the environment and really like animals, and I believe they deserve the same respect and treatment humans have, and believe killing them or using them for human benefit is wrong, as pets, fine, but not in work, unless it is for the benefit of the animal.

I despise the Military (especially the British and American ones, as they are the worst of the lot. I mean it is THEIR and the GOVERNMENT’S fault we are being attacked, NOT the other countries. THE ARMIES and GOVERMENT decided to invade for no good reason).

I do not like the British Royal Family.

I do not consider myself British; I am Scottish.

Finally, I am fiercely anti-war and I want world peace.
