"Some say he's been helping the resistance.
All we know is... he's called the Stig!
"
—What Balthier would have said if I were the script writer

Hey guys! I'm known as Jeppo. This is neither my real name nor a name given to any character from any of the Final Fantasy games. If there is someone if FF called Jeppo then this is merely a coincidence and I certainly don't know about it. If this is the case then please tell me about it.

I live somewhere in Great Britain and am frequently frustrated when Square doesn't release any of their FF games here until 5000 years* after it was released in Japan and America. For example I'm still waiting for them to release the PSP version of FF1 and 2 over here. Maybe they think PAL stands for "Publish Agonisingly Late" or something.

My first FF game was Final Fantasy X, which is very good and I even took the liberty of making it into a link. The next game I bought in the series was Final Fantasy X-2, which wasn't that good, which is why it isn't linked. Then I bought Final Fantasy VII, which was good, Final Fantasy VIII which was pretty awful and Final Fantasy IX which is so good I've made it into bold type. Then Final Fantasy XII came along so I bought that. Afterwards Final Fantasy Tactics FINALLY came to our shores under the moniker War of the Lions so I bought that. Finally Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- came out over here eventually so I bought that, even though I now wished I hadn't, it was that bad. I've also played Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, but I don't own it so that doesn't count.

(* slight exaggeration)

I'm an Aries, which makes me a White Mage, apparently. I find this hilarious due to the fact that I rarely look at the bright side and the fact that I usually wear dark clothing. If I was born a few days earlier, I would have been a Ninja, which probably better suits me.

[edit] Current Projects for this wiki

  • Complete My Walkthrough of Final Fantasy X - That remains my no. 1 priority on this wiki at least. Balancing these out with the revising of exams in January will be a bit tricky so this may go on hold until they are out of the way, but I'll see how things turn out. At the time of writing I'm in the middle of Bevelle, but since I only update my userpage about once a month I may be further than that.

[edit] Final Fantasies I own/played

Final Fantasy (from Origins (don't own but borrowed)) - Status: PWN'D! (Killed Chaos, creamed Warmech (he wasn't even tough!) and I was only level 33 when fighting both, I dare you to beat that.)

Final Fantasy II (again from Origins (don't own but borrowed)) - Status: Finished. (Killed the Emperor. Again. I can add him to the list of final bosses that I have beaten first time!)

(long gap, since III-VI is unbuyable for the moment, especially at the prices people are asking for)

Final Fantasy VII - Status: Finished (Killed Safer Sephiroth but haven't tried tackling the WEAPONs (except Ultimate))

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- - Status: PWN'D! (killed Genesis, creamed Minerva, that game is far too easy)

Final Fantasy VIII - Status: Finished (Killed Ultimecia and Ultima Weapon but haven't tried tackling Omega Weapon because I'm just bored stiff with the game)

Final Fantasy IX - Status: Unfinished, bizarrely. I've got up to the crystal and everything but I haven't took on the final bosses or anything. Maybe I should go back and finish it someday.

Final Fantasy X - Status: Finished, verging on pwning. (Killed Yu Yevon, Creamed Nemesis, but I'm stuck on the Dark Aeons. I've killed all up to Dark Shiva, but struggling against Dark Bahamut. Given up for the time being and starting over as I'm doing my walkthrough)

Final Fantasy X-2 - Status: PWN'D! (killed Shuyin, the crybaby and Trema, got 100%, very disappointed with the perfect ending. Come on, Square! You can do better than that!)

Final Fantasy XII - Status: Finished, verging on pwning. (Just Omega Type XII to go, killed Undying and creamed Yiazmat)

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions - Status: PWN'D! (Killed Ultima, creamed Elidibus. It was all right, I suppose but I don't think it was the Best FF ever like many others had said)

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (don't own, but borrowed) - Status: Unfinished. (Had to give my friend his GBA back before I had finished it. Just unlocked Bervenia.)

[edit] Final Fantasies I've Watched

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within - Just finished watching it on Channel Five (as I'm writing this). What a load of rubbish.

[edit] The Future

The next FF along is the long awaited Final Fantasy XIII. I have a horrible feeling the series is going to go tits-up. You just have to look at the number: 13. That's got to be a bad omen. The opposing "lucky" number is the number 7, and Final Fantasy VII was a global success. And before you say that it's a Japanese game and therefore Western superstitions do not count, let me remind you that FFIV (4 is unlucky in Japan) was apparently a pretty good game and that FFVIII (8 is lucky in Japan) was crap.

Superstitions aside, I've noticed that Square have started adding PS1 games onto the PlayStation Network. FFVII is already on there but I've already got that on disk so I'm not getting that. I highly doubt the original Tactics is coming out because it was never released in Europe in the first place. If the War of the Lions ever goes Platinum then that could go on download, but I've already got that game. Possibly FFs VIII and IX are to be going on the Network too (that's not confirmed yet so you haven't heard it here first). Now if this trend continues, hopefully they are going to put Anthology and FFVI up for download as well and if so I will seriously consider downloading it. I always wanted to play those.

[edit] I don't just play FF, ya know!

Game series that I also enjoy playing are:

  • Gran Turismo
  • WipEout
  • Anything that Naughty Dog produces

[edit] Jeppo's Challenges

This is where I post challenges and ask you to beat them. I've completed all the challenges set out below myself so they can be done. When you beat a challenge, inform me on my talk page and you'll earn a award on your template that you can show off to your mates or... something. If somebody else has beaten a challenge, you can still attempt it. New challenges are being added with each passing day so remember to look back!

[edit] Challenge #1: Final Fantasy

As you may have read above, I have borrowed my friend's copy of Final Fantasy Origins for the PlayStation. He never finished either of them, saying that it was "boring". So I played it and I beaten it, on Normal difficulty. I finished with what I think is a pretty low average level.

The Challenge: By using the following four characters: Warrior, Thief, Black Mage and Red Mage, beat the game with no party member above level 33. Use any version of Final Fantasy you have (preferably Origins), but make sure you play in Normal Difficulty if given the choice.
Beaten By: ScatheMote

[edit] Challenge #2: Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-

I have always said that Crisis Core was too easy, so I tried to make it challenging for myself. I played it without participating any of the missions (apart from the mandatory mission at the beginning of the game). This is actually a lot harder than it sounds, as not only you'll level up as much as you would normally do, you'll also won't be able to equip more than two accessories, use items in Materia Fusion (therefore stat building will be very tough) or have any of the Summons or Chocobo Mode on the DMW (except Phoenix). This makes the game much more fun so this challenge is worthwhile!

The Challenge: Beat the game without playing any missions (except the first mandatory one) in Normal difficulty. Power-levelling (running between zone to zone just to encounter enemies and level up) is not allowed for this challenge!
Beaten By: Naruto195

[edit] Challenges #3 & #4: Final Fantasy X

Blitzball. You either love it or hate it. Remember way way back when you first played Final Fantasy X, you got to Luca and played that mandatory match against the Luca Goers? You probably got beaten very badly, however once you understand the rules and developed a few strategies, you replay the game and you beat them. I thought about setting you guys a challenge of beating them, but I thought that's too easy so I decided to raise the stakes a little...

The Challenge: In the mandatory blitzball match (i.e. the match just before the fiends attack the stadium), beat the Goers with a goal difference of four or higher.
Beaten By: Yuffie2211, Immune to stop, TenzaZangetsu, Zerohope2survive, Biggs&Wedge

Not content with setting one challenge, I thought I should set another. This is another tricky yet attainable challenge, but with the right players, strategy and opponents, you can do it.

The Challenge: Score at least 12 goals in one match against any team.
Beaten By: ScatheMote, Sorceror Nobody, Zerohope2survive, FF74EVA!, Biggs&Wedge

[edit] Challenge #5: Final Fantasy Tactics

There are few FF games that have such a steep difficulty curve as Final Fantasy Tactics (and the War of the Lions version), so you would expect the difficulty to be high all the way through the game. Well, not really. As soon as you get one specific character, the rest of the game is rendered ridiculously easy, which is a shame because it did taint the game slightly. Yes that person I was referring to is Count Cidolfus Orlandeau. So how would you fare if you, say, didn't use him once you acquired him. Or even better, how would you fare if you didn't use any characters with special jobs at all?

The Challenge: Beat the game without using characters that use special jobs in the main storyline battles, except when they are guests. These characters are Mustadio, Agrias, Rapha, Marach, Orlandeau, Meliadoul, Beowulf, Reis, Construct 8, Cloud, Byblos, Balthier or Luso.
Beaten By: Werefang, Immune to stop

[edit] Challenge #6: Final Fantasy II

Ah, Final Fantasy II, the series' first attempt at producing a story-driven game. I found this game to be quite hard, despite what other people said. Mind you, it got a hell of a lot easier when I got Osmose as beforehand I was running out of MP halfway through the dungeon. But anyway. When I played I foolishly sold my Blood Sword over at Fynn, meaning I had to beat the Emperor the hard way. My Protect spell (or whatever it was called in my version) was a lowly level 1 so that was useless. So the Emperor was just smacking Leon and Gus dead with one hit and regaining all his HP while he was at it. So I took the risky step of leaving them dead and just played with Firion and Maria. He was only smacking Firion for 500 damage at a time, which was bearable, and Maria was the healer so I had to keep her alive. Firion had the Masamune. Eventually the boss knocked out Maria with a well placed Flare but thankfully, Firion kills him in the next turn. So all in all it was a highly unconventional way of beating the final boss of the game, and with the help of this challenge, you too can follow in my footsteps and beat the Emperor.

The Challenge: Beat the Emperor (the final boss, not the one at the Cyclone!) using just two characters of your choice. The Blood Sword is banned in this challenge.
Beaten by: Chocolancer, Alexalibur

[edit] Challenge #7: Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-

This challenge is based on the powerful superboss Minerva. If you have fought her, you probably used the overpowered Costly Punch attack to deal 99,999 damage a shot, use a Phoenix Down every time your Raise status disappears after every Judgment Arrow (and Death) and beat her within 10 minutes without breaking much of a sweat. I challenge you to defeat Minerva without relying on everything I have just mentioned.

The Challenge: Beat Minerva without dying (and ReRaising) and without using Costly Punch for the duration of the battle. You may equip the Costly Punch materia if it gives you the necessary stat boosts, however you may not use the ability.
Beaten By: 9th Judge Gabranth, Alexalibur

[edit] Challenge #8: Final Fantasy X

This is the hardest challenge I have set to date. I'll cut straight to the chase and tell you what to do. If you manage to beat this, I will be very impressed.

The Challenge: Defeat Braska's Final Aeon without breaking the following rules.

  • You must use the Standard Sphere Grid.
  • You are only allowed to use Red Spheres (Power, Mana, Speed, Ability and Fortune) on the sphere grid. That means no Key Spheres, Yellow Spheres, Blue spheres, Yellow Spheres or Purple Spheres. If a character has used even one of these spheres, they are not allowed to participate in battle.
  • Characters must not leave their section of the sphere grid, "their section" being the section they inhabit which are enclosed by locks. If they do, they are not allowed to participate in battle.
  • You are not allowed to use Celestial Weapons during battle.
  • You are allowed to summon aeons, however aeons are not allowed to damage Braska's Final Aeon or the Yu Pagodas.

That is all. Have fun!

Beaten by: ZEROX (C)

[edit] Challenge #9: Dissidia Final Fantasy

Unlike many of the above challenges, this should only take a day for you to complete. Thing is, you have a lot to do in that day. This doesn't require much skill to complete, more like a test of endurance. Just remember, after every hour of play, take a 15 minute break.

The Challenge: Using the Hardcore play plan, get the chocobo to reach the treasure chest twice in a single day. That's 120 battles in one day. You don't have to win all the battles, but don't cheat by messing with the PSP clock.
Beaten by: ZEROX (C), Daiton, Alexalibur, FF74EVA!,  Silver Mage , +DeadlySlashSword+, Biggs&Wedge, BlankTH, Malevolence Crystalised
