Completely random quote- I made this template for the intros in my FFXII walkthrough, so I decided I'd throw it in here too. By the way, this template also makes an appearance on my FFXIII walkthrough (notice how subtly I slipped that link in there?)
"Maturity is a bitter disappointment for which no remedy exists, unless laughter can be said to remedy anything."
Like many people, I was introduced to the FF series and the RPG genre by FFVII way back in the late ‘90s. I’ve since played every game in the main series (except FFXI), but I only play the original versions, no remakes or sequels. The painfully outdated graphics and often hilariously awful translations of the older games take me back to a simpler time, when I was innocent and carefree. I feel like the process of polishing and modernizing these classics removes a part of their soul, and diminishes what made them great in the first place. (I’m aware of the irony that my user name is taken from a retranslation). As for the sequels and spinoffs, they seem to be nothing more than shameless money-grabs. Anyway, I’ll get off my soapbox now and say that although each game had some elements that I found annoying, I enjoyed all of them, and there isn’t a single one that I probably won’t end up replaying again. I especially enjoy games where I can tinker with my characters' abilities and equipment to make a “perfect setup,” such as the junction system in FFVIII, the class system of FFV, and materia in FFVII.
