Umbral Vise (ヘビーストライク, Hebī Sutoraiku?, lit. Heavy Strike) is a recurring ability in the series. It is an ability used exclusively by Bahamut's Final Fantasy XIII incarnation.

XIII Umbral Vise is an ability used by Bahamut, which costs 1 ATB to use and inflicts major physical non-elemental damage to one target. It is also used as an enemy ability during the battle with Bahamut, which is always used after attacking with Whirlwind.

EtymologyEdit

Umbral is derived from the Latin umbra, meaning "shadow".

A vise is a mechanical apparatus used to secure an object to allow work to be performed on it. Vises have two parallel jaws, one fixed and the other movable, threaded in and out by a screw and lever.
