Uhh... I'm running if you are!
—Rikku, when entering battle against Ultima Weapon

Ultima Weapon is a boss in Final Fantasy X fought in the Omega Ruins. It is the by-product of Omega Weapon's hatred for Yevon and his banishment.

BattleEdit

Ultima will continually cast a variety of status effects at the party: Darkness, Sleep, Silence, Break, and Confuse. The abilities can be reflected back at it, although Ultima Weapon is only vulnerable to Darkness and Silence. Ultima Weapon's normal physical attack hits for around 2,500 HP damage, and as usual for most bosses, will shatter a petrified character.

Core Energy is a magical attack that hits for anywhere between 3,000 and 9,999 HP; Ultima Weapon can also cast Holy, which has similar variation in damage. Ultima Weapon's only group attack is Shimmering Rain, which will hit everyone for about 2,500 damage.

Ultima Weapon is one of only two bosses (Lord Ochu being the other) who can be bribed; for 1,400,000 gil it can hand over up to 99 Pendulums (because its max HP is higher in the HD Remaster, it typically gives only 56~72 for this gil amount; soft resetting often must be utilized to attain 99, or the player can bribe for approximately 1,999,980 gil, which is the original bribe increased proportionally for Ultima Weapon's HP increase). The Pendulums can be used to give an armor the ability Master Thief, which makes it easier to steal rare items.

StrategyEdit

Shell will protect against Core Energy and Holy. Holy can be reflected.

TriviaEdit

  • The words "Ultima Weapon" are inscribed in Ultima Weapon's tail in Spiran script.

EtymologyEdit

Ultima is Latin, and in many of today's Latin-based languages, for "The Last", in its feminine sense. However in the Spanish versions of many Final Fantasy games the spell name is "Artema", a closer transliteration of the original Japanese katakana.
