An avid, if young, historian in the Royal Archives, and Dr. Mog's top student. Entering the Record Realms via Dr. Mog's magic, he relives the struggles of the past in order to restore the faded records.

Tyro is a young boy with short, light brown hair and light blue eyes. He wears blue robes and a blue academic cap with yellow tassels. He wears a yellow cravat, dark blue pants and brown shoes. As his mentor, Dr. Mog, wears the same outfit, it can be inferred to be the standard uniform for Record Keepers.

Tyro is an apprentice Record Keeper, a group that maintains the paintings that store the history of the world. He studies under Dr. Mog. Although he is the youngest member of the group, Dr. Mog views him as his most promising pupil. When a mysterious force begins to delete the records, Tyro is chosen to investigate the cause and to restore the records by entering the paintings to reenact famous battles alongside prominent figures from the history of the Final Fantasy series.

Tyro has unmatched versatility in battle: he can equip any equipment piece and equip any ability up to Rank 5, and he is able to acquire the ability to use Rank 6 abilities in the standard ways, completing his Empowered Spheres or completing Nightmare Dungeons. This allows Tyro to comfortably slip into any combat role the player needs. His versatility is further accentuated by a variety of Soul Breaks, which include myriad effects such as healing the party, raising the party's stats, casting buffing magic on them, or attacking enemies.
