An avid, if young, historian in the Royal Archives, and Dr. Mog's top student. Entering the Record Realms via Dr. Mog's magic, he relives the struggles of the past in order to restore the faded records.
Tyro, known as Deshi in Japan, is the main character of Final Fantasy Record Keeper.
Tyro is a young boy with short, light brown hair and light blue eyes. He wears blue robes and a blue academic cap with yellow tassels. He also wears a yellow cravat, dark blue pants and brown shoes. As his mentor, Dr. Mog, wears the same outfit, it can be inferred to be the standard uniform for all Record Keepers.
Tyro is an apprentice Record Keeper, a group that maintains the paintings that store the history of the world, who studies under Dr. Mog. Although he is the youngest member of the group, Dr. Mog views him as his most promising pupil. Thus, when a mysterious force begins to cause the records to disappear, he is chosen to investigate the cause and to restore the records by entering the paintings to reenact famous battles alongside prominent figures from the history of the Final Fantasy series.
Tyro, who has the unique class of Keeper, has generally below-average to average stats across the board, yet his Attack growth is slightly better than that of Defense, Magic, Resistance, and Mind despite his in-game role of a librarian, usually a person untrained in combat.
As a Record Keeper, Tyro can use all released skills such as Black Magic (Black magic, Summon and Witch schools) up to rarity rank 5, White Magic up to rarity rank 5, Physical (including Combat, Support, Shooter and Celerity schools) up to rarity rank 5, Summoning up to rarity rank 5, and Other (including Spellblade, Dragoon, Monk, Knight, Samurai, Bard, Dance, Darkness and Ninja) up to rarity rank 5.
Tyro also gains access to unique Soul Breaks when equipped with various weapons. Judgment Grimoire is Tyro's default soul break: it calls forth a giant sword to strike all enemy targets. The book weapons "Sentinel's Grimoire", "Healing Grimoire", and "Cyclone Grimoire" all grant him access to unique soul breaks named after their respective weapons. Sentinel's Grimoire summons a giant shield which reduces damage taken to the party, Healing Grimoire restores HP to the party, and Cyclone Grimoire deals non-elemental magic damage to all enemy targets whilst reducing their resistance. All of Tyro's Soul Breaks consume 1 segment of the Soul Gauge, save Healing Grimoire which consumes 2.
Tyro can equip all released weapon types, including the following: balls, books, bows, daggers, fists, hammers, instruments, rods, spears, staves, swords, thrown, guns, gun-arms, hair ornaments, gambling gear, and whips. Three of the books, Healing Grimoire, Sentinel's Grimoire, and Cyclone Grimoire allow Tyro to use unique Soul Breaks named after their respective weapons.
Tyro is able to equip accessories.
Tyro has appeared in the following Final Fantasy media:
