Bangaa Trickster.

Tricksters spin a web of deception, twisting the flow of battle to their advantage.

The Trickster (トリックスター, Torikkusutā?) is a job for the bangaa in Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift. They use cards as weapons, allowing them to attack from a long range, and their skills primarily revolve around inflicting statuses. Unusual for bangaa, the Trickster job features an excellent Speed and Magick growth, but with the downfall of very low MP. A popular secondary A-Ability is the Gladiator's Sparring moveset, which grants elemental damage and the bangaa's Ultima attack.

Since Ultima's damage is based on the Magick stat, Tricksters can do higher damage than most of the bangaa's other classes, and with a better range and Half MP as support, the Trickster can deal massive damage at long range every two turns. This class has a disadvantage against units immune to debuffs (via Cachusha, Barette, Ribbon, or the Impervious passive ability). The Trickster is also the only Job that is able to wield cards.

One of the four bosses of Duelhorn, the Night Dancer, is an androgynous bangaa Trickster.

Pygmalion is a clan of Tricksters that not only bestows this unique job class after the player defeats them but also appears in auctions and a Bonga Bugle quest, time and again proving a nuisance.

Final Fantasy Trading Card GameEdit

Trickster TCG

Trickster appears with an Ice-elemental card.

In mythology and the study of folklore and religion, a trickster is a god, goddess, spirit, man, woman, or anthropomorphic animal who exhibits intellect or secret knowledge and uses it to play tricks or otherwise disobey normal rules and conventional behavior.

  • This Job class is reminiscent of Gambler Nobodies from the Kingdom Hearts series. Both Tricksters and Gamblers use cards as weapons, and the emblem on the Tricksters' trousers somewhat resembles part of the Nobody emblem. They have a similar white-and-purple color scheme.
  • The Trickster's abilities make use of the nocebo effect, the opposite to the placebo effect.
  • Pygmalion means a concept of psychology describing the behavior of individuals as people expect them to behave.
  • Among all the history from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance that states the bangaa are a race with high valor and endurance, but slightly low in swiftness or wisdom. The Trickster is the first bangaa Job ever that the Speed growth is rated A+.
